  • 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo: Not returning Sunday

Garoppolo (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's divisional-round contest against the Cowboys, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Having said that, coach Kyle Shanahan told David Lombardi of The Athletic on Friday that Garoppolo was able to resume working out on the side at practice this week, while adding there's an "outside chance" the quarterback is active if the 49ers advance to the NFC Championship Game. Garoppolo has entered the late stages of his recovery from a broken left foot that he sustained Week 13 against the Dolphins, which has caused him to miss the last six games. In the meantime, San Francisco's offense will continue to be directed by Brock Purdy, with Josh Johnson backing up the rookie seventh-round pick.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Has support of Harbaugh, DeCosta

Ravens coach John Harbaugh and GM Eric DeCosta both said Thursday that they expect Jackson (knee) to remain with the team, Hayes Gardner of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rumors have been swirling about Jackson's potential departure from Baltimore, with the 26-year-old scheduled for unrestricted free agency this offseason after a PCL sprain kept him out for the final month of the 2022 regular season and a playoff loss in Cincinnati. Harbaugh said he "200 percent" wants Jackson in Baltimore for years to come, while DeCosta was a bit measured but still said the focus remains on signing Jackson to an extension (rather than trading him). If Jackson does return to Baltimore in 2023, it'll be his first time in an NFL offense that isn't either directed or heavily influenced by Greg Roman, who announced Thursday that he's parting ways with the Ravens after four years as their offensive coordinator. Neither Harbaugh nor DeCosta said anything about a timeline for Jackson's recovery from the knee injury or if surgery might be needed.

  • Dolphins' Teddy Bridgewater: Ends season as backup

Bridgewater completed 49 of 79 pass attempts for 683 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions across five appearances with the Dolphins in 2022. He also carried the ball three times for 27 yards.

Bridgewater served as the backup to rookie Skylar Thompson during the Dolphins' final game, a wild-card playoff loss against the Bills, as a dislocated pinkie finger on his throwing hand continued to hamper him. The 30-year-old veteran was mediocre in limited action during his one-year contract with Miami, though he did battle injuries, so it remains to be seen whether the team will be interested in re-signing him during free agency. Bridgewater only saw significant action in three contests during the 2022 season, but the Dolphins lost each of those games.

  • Kyle Trask QB | TB

Buccaneers' Kyle Trask: No action until Week 18

Trask completed three of nine passes for 23 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in one game during the 2022 regular season.

Trask didn't see action until the final half of play in the regular season, taking the field after Blaine Gabbert in Week 18 against the Falcons. The soon-to-be third-year quarterback could be making a big leap this offseason, however, considering impending free agent Tom Brady may very well play elsewhere in 2023 and the team likely needs to see what it has in Trask, which it invested a second-round pick in back in 2021.

  • Buccaneers' Blaine Gabbert: Another quiet season

Gabbert completed six of eight passes for 29 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in one game during the 2022 regular season.

The veteran didn't see action until the regular-season finale against the Falcons, when Tom Brady exited the game for good during the second quarter. Gabbert played on a one-year deal in 2022, and despite the fact there appears to be a good chance Tom Brady plays elsewhere in 2023, it's unlikely Gabbert is a serious contender for the starting job even if he's re-signed.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Listed as questionable for Saturday

Lawrence (toe) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Kansas City after practicing in a limited fashion this week.

The Jaguars' QB has been a steady presence on his team's injury report since hurting his toe back in Week 13, but Lawrence has continued to play through the issue since then, and there's no reason to expect that to change this weekend. However, official confirmation of Lawrence's availability for the divisional round of the playoffs won't arrive until Jacksonville's inactives are posted ahead of Saturday's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Jalen Hurts QB | PHI

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Set for divisional round

Hurts (shoulder) hasn't been listed on Eagles injury reports in advance of Saturday's divisional-round game against the Giants, Sage Hurley of the team's official site reports.

Hurts was sidelined Weeks 16 and 17 due to an SC joint sprain in his right throwing shoulder, but he returned to action for the regular-season finale Jan. 8 versus the Giants. In the process of eking out a 22-16 victory, he completed 20 of 35 passes for 229 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while running nine times for 13 yards. With a first-round bye in his back pocket, Hurts has put the injury further in the rearview mirror and even noted Tuesday that he's "feeling good." While his health may not be at 100 percent, the third-year quarterback nonetheless is ready to direct Philadelphia's offense in its playoff opener.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Limited in practice Tuesday

The Jaguars listed Lawrence (toe) as a limited practice participant Tuesday.

For the past several weeks, Lawrence's practice reps have been managed while he tends to the sprained left big toe he sustained in a Dec. 4 loss to the Lions, but the injury isn't anything that will seriously threaten his availability for Saturday's divisional-round game in Kansas City. After struggling out of the gate this past weekend in the wild-card round with four first-half interceptions, Lawrence showed poise in the second half and guided the Jaguars to a 31-30 come-from-behind victory over the Chargers. He finished the night with 28 completions for 288 yards and four touchdowns on 47 attempts to go with an eight-yard run in the thrilling win.

  • Dak Prescott QB | DAL

Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Stellar in wild-card win

Prescott completed 25 of 33 pass attempts for 305 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in Monday night's 31-14 wild-card win over the Buccaneers. He also rushed seven times for 24 yards and another score.

Coming off an interception-laden second half of the season and a particularly abysmal regular-season finale, Prescott came out of the gates Monday night like a player focused on atoning for that stretch. He finished off the Cowboys' third drive with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Schultz before putting Dallas up by two scores with a one-yard run just past the midway point of the second quarter. Another touchdown toss late in the second quarter to Schultz, this one of 11 yards, followed before he added strikes to Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb in the second half. The five-touchdown effort absolved Prescott of his recent struggles for the time being, but an unenviable test awaits Sunday in a divisional-round matchup versus the 49ers at Levi's Stadium.

  • Drew Lock QB | SEA

Seahawks' Drew Lock: Never plays in 2022

Lock didn't play an offensive snap during the 2022 season.

Lock lost a close battle with Geno Smith for the starting job during training camp. Smith left no doubt with his performance in the regular season with 4,282 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Lock will be a free agent in March, and it's uncertain whether he'll stay with the team. He's still a credible backup quarterback, but his chances of starting in Seattle are slim, even if Smith ends up leaving in free agency.
