Geno Smith QB | NYJ
Seahawks' Geno Smith: Two TDs in Week 1 upset win
Smith completed 23 of 28 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's 17-16 win over the Broncos. He added 14 yards on five rushing attempts.
Smith sent the amped-up Seattle crowd into a frenzy when he found wide-open tight end Will Dissly for a 38-yard touchdown to cap the game's first drive, but he failed to get any push on a 4th-and-inches sneak attempt inside Denver's 10 to stall Seattle's second possession. The veteran QB completed his first 13 passes and was undeterred by his first incompletion, bouncing back with a 25-yard touchdown to Colby Parkinson to put the Seahawks up 17-10. The offense cooled off after halftime, but Seattle held on for the upset win. Smith looked comfortable and had complete command of the offense despite his modest final numbers, which should give him some job security heading into a Week 2 visit to San Francisco after he narrowly held off Drew Lock for the starting quarterback role this preseason.

Russell Wilson QB | NYG
Broncos' Russell Wilson: Takes loss in Denver debut
Wilson completed 29 of 42 passes for 340 yards and a touchdown while rushing once for two yards in Monday's 17-16 loss to the Seahawks.
Wilson's first three passes of the game all went to fullback/tight end Andrew Beck, and he completed two of them for 52 yards to set up a field goal on Seattle's first drive. His first throw to a wide receiver didn't come until there were less than six minutes left in the second quarter, but he made up for a lack of quantity with quality, as that pass was a 67-yard touchdown to Jerry Jeudy. Denver had no trouble moving the ball but two fumbles by running backs inside the five-yard line and poor clock management down the stretch culminated in the game coming down to a 64-yard Brandon McManus field goal, which narrowly missed. Wilson will have a nice opportunity to bounce back from this loss to his former team when the Texans come to town for his Denver home debut in Week 2.

Dak Prescott QB | DAL
Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Undergoes surgery Monday
Prescott underwent surgery on his fractured right thumb Monday and is facing a 6-8 week recovery, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Prescott sustained the injury when his right hand hit the hand of Buccaneers pass rusher Shaquil Barrett on a pass attempt during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 19-3 loss. While Prescott stayed in the game for one more snap -- a screen pass to Ezekiel Elliott -- the quarterback then left the game due to his inability to grip the football. Considering the aforementioned timeline, Prescott may be able to return as soon as a Week 7 matchup with the Lions, but the Cowboys could opt to wait until after the team's Week 9 bye. In the meantime, Dallas will turn to Cooper Rush under center, with Will Grier as the No. 2 QB.

Jeff Driskel QB | WAS
Jeff Driskel: Reverts to practice squd
Driskel reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Driskel was expected to be Houston's No. 3 quarterback, but he suited up ahead of Kyle Allen against the Colts on Sunday. The veteran quarterback saw the field two times in short-yardage situations, and he carried the ball once for five yards.

Zach Wilson QB | NO
Jets' Zach Wilson: Won't do team work this week
Wilson (knee) will work with receivers in individual drills ahead of Week 2, but he won't do any full-team drills, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
Wilson had an outside shot at playing Week 1, but after he was ruled out, the team said he likely won't suit up until at least Week 4. It's an encouraging sign to see the young quarterback returning to practice, but he still has some rehab ahead of him. Joe Flacco drew the start in the season-opening loss to the Ravens, and coach Robert Saleh said the veteran would "more than likely" start again Week 2 with Wilson sidelined.

Mac Jones QB | SF
Patriots' Mac Jones: X-rays negative, could play Week 2
Jones (back) is believed to be dealing with spasms and received negative X-ray results Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Jones appears to have a shot at suiting up for Sunday's road matchup against the Steelers, but the final word on his status likely will come down to what the second-year quarterback can do in practice. Whatever the case, it's a positive development for New England that Jones has dodged a major injury. The team has veteran Brian Hoyer and rookie Bailey Zappe waiting in the wings if Jones needs to spend any amount of time on the sideline.

Jordan Love QB | GB
Packers' Jordan Love: Sees late action in Week 1
Love completed four of five passes for 65 yards in Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
With just over a minute to go and the Packers trailing by 16 points, Love replaced starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers and handled the final drive of the game. Love completed all four passes he got off, with the lone misfire coming on a spiked ball to stop the clock. The efficient outing bodes well for Love's confidence but does nothing to change his status as the backup behind Rodgers.

Jeff Driskel QB | WAS
Texans' Jeff Driskel: Active for Week 1
Driskel was active for Week 1 against Indianapolis, getting on the field for two plays and carrying the ball once for five yards in a 20-20 tie.
In a slightly surprising move, Driskel was the backup to Davis Mills instead of Kyle Allen. As a quarterback capable of being used in a variety of situations by the Texans, Driskel presents a dual threat to a defense and was on the field for a couple of third-and-short situations, and his lone carry produced a first down. It's unclear if his activation was a stratagem specifically designed for the Colts or a permanent shift on the quarterback depth chart. Driskel is currently on the practice squad and can only be elevated three times on gamedays before needing to be signed to the active roster.

Cooper Rush QB | BAL
Cowboys' Cooper Rush: Next man up with Prescott out
Rush is expected to step in as Dallas' starting quarterback beginning with Sunday's game against the Bengals, as Dak Prescott is likely to miss 6-to-8 weeks after undergoing surgery Monday to address a fractured right hand, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Prescott exited in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys' season-opening 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay after suffering the injury when he struck the outstretched hand of Buccaneers defender Shaquil Barrett while attempting a pass. Rush stepped in to finish the contest, completing seven of 13 passes for 64 yards while taking two sacks. Once Prescott officially is placed on injured reserve in the coming days, Rush -- who was elevated from the practice squad Sunday -- is expected to be formally added to the 53-man roster. Will Grier is another candidate to be promoted from the practice squad to provide depth at QB, but during Prescott's absence, expect Dallas to look outside the organization to add at least one more quarterback to the 53-man roster or the practice squad to restore numbers at the position. Over 11 contests (but only one start) during his six-year NFL career, Rush has been a capable game manager with a 60.3 percent completion rate (38-for-63) for 7.7 yards per attempt, three touchdowns and one interception, but he doesn't present much of a threat as a scrambler and is likely to preside over a run-heavy offense led by Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Rush's fantasy appeal will be limited to two-quarterback and superflex formats, and he may be only a low-end lineup option even in those formats while he's serving as Dallas' starter.

Dak Prescott QB | DAL
Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Projected to miss 6-8 weeks
Prescott is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday to address his fractured right thumb and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, multiple sources tell Todd Archer of ESPN.com.
The Cowboys are expected to place Prescott on injured reserve in the coming days after he sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay, when he struck the outstretched hand of Buccaneers defender Shaquil Barrett while attempting a pass. According to Archer, Prescott's upcoming procedure will involve the insertion of a plate and a pin to stabilize a joint in his hand, and he'll likely be limited to cardio work over the next few weeks before he's healed up enough to resume throwing. Cooper Rush came on in relief of Prescott and is the prime candidate to take over as the starting quarterback beginning Week 2, when the Cowboys host the Bengals this Sunday. A firm target date for Prescott's return won't come into focus until he's further removed from surgery, but if he meets the short end of the projected recovery timeline, he could miss as few as five games and resume playing in the Cowboys' Week 7 home game versus the Lions on Oct. 23.
