Trey Lance QB | LAC
49ers' Trey Lance: Struggles in season opener
Lance completed 13 of 28 pass attempts for 164 yards, no touchdowns and one interception Sunday. He added 54 rushing yards on 13 carries in a 19-10 loss to Chicago.
Lance had to deal with blistering winds and rain throughout the contest, so it would be unfair to project his 2022 value solely off this dud. The 13 rush attempts were a plus for fantasy owners, as part of Lance's fantasy appeal is his physical prowess as a rusher. The third-overall pick from the 2021 draft struggled with his accuracy, which was a concern even without the rough playing conditions. We should get a better idea of Lance's offseason progress in a home matchup against the Seahawks in what is currently expected to be a clear and sunny day at Levi's Stadium on Sept. 18.

Dak Prescott QB | DAL
Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Multi-week absence upcoming
Prescott will need surgery to repair the fractured right thumb he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers, and the quarterback is expected to miss several weeks, Calvin Watkins of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Cooper Rush finished out Dallas' 19-3 Week 1 loss after Prescott got hurt, but it's possible that the Cowboys will look outside the organization for a replacement at quarterback while Prescott recovers. Prescott sustained the thumb injury when his hand hit the hand of a Buccaneers defender while following through on a pass. A more definitive return timetable will likely be established soon, but Prescott can already be ruled out for Dallas' Week 2 clash with the Bengals.

Dak Prescott QB | DAL
Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Hurts throwing hand on SNF
Prescott exited in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers to have his throwing hand examined, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Prescott took himself out of the game after taking two hits to his right hand in short succession. Cooper Rush replaced Prescott with the Cowboys trailing 19-3. Prior to his exit, Prescott completed only 14 of 29 passes for 134 yards and one interception while rushing twice for 11 yards.

Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN
Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Tosses two TDs in Week 1 loss
Tannehill completed 20 of 33 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 21-20 loss to the Giants.
Both TDs went to Dontrell Hilliard, as Tannehill connected with his receiving back on a seven-yard score in the first quarter and a 23-yard strike in the fourth. However, that was just about all the offense Tennessee could muster. Tannehill didn't show much chemistry with any of his other options aside from unheralded fifth-round pick Kyle Philips, and that lack of firepower could be a big problem in Week 2 as the Titans face the Bills on Monday.

Daniel Jones QB | IND
Giants' Daniel Jones: Erratic performance in win
Jones completed 17 of 21 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns with one interception and added 25 rushing yards on six carries in Sunday's 21-20 win over the Titans.
The 25-year-old quarterback was mostly efficient when he had time to throw, but Jones was sacked five times, and his one INT was nearly a back-breaker as he got picked off in the end zone early in the fourth quarter with the Giants down 20-13. After getting chewed out by new head coach Brian Daboll on the sideline, Jones rallied and led his team to a game-winning TD and two-point conversion inside the final two minutes. The jury is still out on whether Daboll can help Jones turn his career around, but he'll take some momentum and confidence into a Week 2 tilt against the Panthers.

Kyler Murray QB | MIN
Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Two TDs in Sunday's loss
Murray completed 22 of 34 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns while adding five carries for 29 yards in Sunday's 44-21 loss to Kansas City. He also completed a two-point conversion to Zach Ertz.
While he didn't supply much yardage through the air, Murray did toss a couple garbage-time TDs in the fourth quarter to salvage his Week 1 line. The fourth-year quarterback was held below 200 passing yards only once in 14 starts last season, and he figures to post better numbers in Week 2 against a Las Vegas defense that just surrendered 279 yards and three touchdowns to Justin Herbert in its opener.

Justin Fields QB | KC
Bears' Justin Fields: Leads team to win
Fields completed eight of 17 passes for 121 yards with two touchdowns and one interception and 11 rushes for 28 yards in the Bears' 19-10 victory over the 49ers on Sunday.
Fields was unable to generate any points in the first half. However, he took advantage of a pair of coverage busts by the 49ers that left Dante Pettis and Equanimeous St. Brown open for touchdown strikes after the break. The game was played on a rain-soaked field, and Fields was able to get the winning points on the board before the rains became torrential in the fourth quarter. He'll likely have better field conditions to work with when he travels to Green Bay in Week 2.
-
Kirk Cousins QB | LV
Vikings' Kirk Cousins: Throws two touchdowns
Cousins completed 23 of 32 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 23-7 win over the Packers.
Cousins leaned heavily on star wideout Justin Jefferson, finding him nine times for 184 yards and two touchdowns. It was an efficient outing from the signal-caller, and he played a clean game in new coach Kevin O'Connell's debut. Cousins will strive to keep his squad's early-season momentum going in Week 2 versus the Eagles.

Patrick Mahomes QB | KC
Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Another dominant opener
Mahomes completed 30 of 39 passes for 360 yards and five touchdowns in Sunday's 44-21 win over the Cardinals. He added five yards on three carries.
The franchise quarterback made it clear very quickly the Kansas City offense would be just fine without Tyreek Hill. Mahomes set a new personal record by completing 12 straight passes at one point, and he found nine different receivers over the course of the game. The 26-year-old remains exceptional in Week 1 contests -- in five season openers during his career so far, he's completed 72.5 percent of his passes while averaging 308.4 yards and compiling an incredible 18:0 TD:INT. Mahomes did injure his left wrist while being tackled on his first TD pass on the day, but he played the rest of the game with his wrist wrapped, and the injury doesn't appear to be a serious one. Per Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, he'll undergo testing on his wrist before Kansas City begins prepping for its Thursday clash with the Chargers in Week 2.

Derek Carr QB | NO
Raiders' Derek Carr: Throws three picks Sunday
Carr completed 22 of 37 pass attempts for 295 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in a loss against the Chargers on Sunday.
The Chargers defense clobbered Carr all day, sacking him six times and hitting him nine times even though the Raiders weren't really attacking all that far downfield. Carr was perhaps overly dependent on Davante Adams, who claimed 17 of Carr's 35 targeted passes, and second-leading pass catcher Darren Waller (four catches for 79 yards on six targets) didn't do much until the fourth quarter. Carr and the Raiders will face Arizona in Week 2.
