  • Tyrod Taylor QB | GB

Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Back injury isn't serious

Coach Brian Daboll said Taylor "should be OK" after the quarterback left Sunday's preseason game versus the Jets due to a back injury, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Leading the offense in place of Daniel Jones, Taylor worked most of the first quarter before taking a hit while rolling to his right. Taylor remained on the field for a spell before heading to the sideline tent and eventually the locker room. The veteran QB returned to the bench in street clothes after halftime, and Daboll's comment indicates Taylor will be fine to serve as Jones' backup to begin the upcoming season.

  • Kyle Trask QB | TB

Buccaneers' Kyle Trask: Encouraging finish to preseason

Trask completed seven of 10 passes for 94 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Buccaneers' 27-10 preseason loss to the Colts on Saturday night.

Trask unsurprisingly got the most playing time of the Buccaneers' three quarterbacks, and he delivered a solid showing overall to wrap up his preseason. The University of Florida product should have the benefit of another low-pressure season as the No. 3 quarterback behind Tom Brady and Blaine Gabbert while also reaping the benefits of learning from both veterans.

  • Buccaneers' Blaine Gabbert: Wraps up solid preseason

Gabbert completed five of seven attempts for 46 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-10 preseason loss to the Colts on Saturday night.

Gabbert was the second quarterback in with Tom Brady making his preseason debut, and the veteran backup was able to helm a nine-play, 81-yard scoring march that culminated in a Ke'Shawn Vaughn one-yard touchdown run. Gabbert saw action in all three exhibitions and was efficient in each one, and he'll open the season in the familiar and typically low-volume role of backing up the highly durable Brady.

Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Picks up back injury

Taylor left Sunday's preseason game versus the Jets due to a back injury, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Taylor was driven into the ground after completing a 25-yard pass to Daniel Bellinger, remaining on the turf for a few minutes. The 11-year pro then visited the medical tent before needing a cart to get to the locker room. With starting quarterback Daniel Jones sitting out this contest, Taylor handed off the offense to Davis Webb.

Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Suffers injury Sunday

Taylor (undisclosed) was carted off the field during Sunday's preseason game against the Jets, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

As the first quarter was drawing to a close, Taylor unleashed a pass as he rolled to the right and immediately was driven to the ground by a Jets defender. He remained on the turf for a spell before going to the sideline tent and requiring a cart to get to the locker room. The nature of the injury is unclear, but Taylor ceded QB duties to Davis Webb with Daniel Jones sitting out this exhibition.

  • Bears' Nathan Peterman: Sees mop-up duty

Peterman completed two of four passes for 57 yards in the Bears' 21-20 win against the Browns on Saturday.

Peterman played in the fourth quarter with the third-string offense. On his 37-yard strike to Isaiah Coulter, Peterman underthrew the pass, but his receiver was able to come back to make a play on it. He'll likely retain his role as the Bears' No. 3 quarterback during the regular season.

  • Trevor Siemian QB | ATL

    Bears' Trevor Siemian: Efficient performance

Siemian completed five of eight passes for 54 yards in the Bears' 21-20 win against the Browns on Saturday.

Siemian entered the game with two minutes left in the first half and played most of the third quarter. He's been the clear No. 2 quarterback behind Justin Fields throughout the summer, and it seems likely he'll retain that role to start the regular season.

  • P.J. Walker QB | SEA

Panthers' P.J. Walker: Expected to back up Mayfield

Walker has the confidence of the Panthers coaching staff to back up Baker Mayfield while Sam Darnold (ankle) recovers from his injury suffered in Friday's preseason finale versus the Bills, ESPN's David Newton reports.

Walker entered Friday's game after Mayfield and Darnold played the first three quarters. He completed 8 of 10 passes for 50 yards but couldn't lead the Panthers to any points on his two drives. However, with rookie third-rounder Matt Corral (foot) out for the season and Darnold now expected to miss at least one month, Walker finds himself as Carolina's second-stringer heading into Week 1.

  • Anthony Brown QB | BUF

Ravens' Anthony Brown: Throws for 256 yards

Brown completed 15 of 19 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 17-15 preseason win over Washington.

A lot of the yardage came on two big plays where Demarcus Robinson beat cornerbacks on double moves. Still, the undrafted rookie QB out of Oregon made his case for a roster spot, potentially convincing the Ravens to keep a third quarterback behind Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.

  • Sam Howell QB | DAL

Commanders' Sam Howell: Plays well again

Howell completed 24 of 35 passes for 280 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 17-15 preseason loss to Baltimore, adding eight carries for 62 yards.

Howell played the entire game and took five sacks, but mostly he played well, finishing the preseason 43-of-69 passing (62.3 percent) for 527 yards (7.8 YPA), one touchdown and one interception. The fifth-round pick figures to enter his rookie season as a third-stringer, but there's a path to playing time by the end of the year given that Washington's other QBs are Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke.
