  • Tua Tagovailoa QB | ATL

Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Sharp in preseason debut

Tagovailoa completed six of eight passes for 58 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Dolphins' 15-13 preseason loss to the Raiders on Saturday night.

Tagovailoa led a pair of relatively short drives to open the game and was able to help put the Dolphins in position for a Jason Sanders 46-yard field goal at the conclusion of the latter one. The 2020 first-round pick connected with four different targets during his brief time on the field while playing without both Tyreek Hill (coach's decision) and Jaylen Waddle (coach's decision), and Saturday night's action may have been the extent of what he'll see this preseason in the interest of keeping him healthy.

  • Malik Willis QB | MIA

Titans' Malik Willis: Inefficient passing night in win

Willis completed seven of 17 pass attempts for 80 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and rushed five times for 42 yards during the Titans' 13-3 preseason win over the Buccaneers on Saturday night.

Willis started the game as expected with Ryan Tannehill getting the night off and was consistently frustrated early, as the Titans turned it over on downs and punted twice apiece in their first four possessions while gaining a total of just 34 yards. However, Willis subsequently helped lead a 13-play, 78-yard march that ended in a Randy Bullock field goal and then threw a six-yard touchdown toss to Chigoziem Okonkwo just before halftime. The rookie third-round pick took another three sacks as well, so it's clear he has plenty of work to do when it comes to pocket awareness and accuracy while working as Tannehill's understudy this coming season. Willis should get another solid allotment of playing time with which to continue working out the kinks next Saturday night against the Cardinals in Tennessee's preseason finale.

  • Will Grier QB | CAR

Cowboys' Will Grier: To get two quarters Saturday

Owner Jerry Jones said Grier will handle "at least two quarters" during Saturday's preseason contest at the Chargers, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.

With Dak Prescott not slated to play, Cooper Rush is getting the start at quarterback for the Cowboys before handing off the offense to Grier. It will mark Grier's first action of the exhibition season, as he missed the team's first preseason game due to a minor groin strain. Once Rush and Grier are done for the day, Ben DiNucci will be under center, likely for most of the fourth quarter.

  • Cooper Rush QB | BAL

Cowboys' Cooper Rush: Starting Saturday's exhibition

Coach Mike McCarthy said Rush will start Saturday's preseason game at the Chargers with Dak Prescott not suiting up, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.

Like he did during preseason Week 1 at Denver, Rush will get the nod first under center for the Cowboys. In that contest, he complete 12 of 20 passes for 84 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while adding a nine-yard carry. Once Rush is done for the contest, Will Grier will enter for him, with Ben DiNucci working the fourth quarter.

  • Dak Prescott QB | DAL

Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Won't play Saturday

Prescott won't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Chargers, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Prescott is working out before the game but is one of the many starters that figure to be held out as a precaution.

  • Nate Sudfeld QB | SF

49ers' Nate Sudfeld: Starting at Minnesota

Sudfeld is the Niners' starting quarterback for Saturday's preseason matchup at the Vikings, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Sudfeld was San Francisco's leading passer in the team's preseason opener versus Green Bay, which evidently was enough to earn him the start for Week 2 of the preseason with presumed starter Trey Lance sitting out. Pending a potential trade to send Jimmy Garoppolo elsewhere, Sudfeld is battling 2022 Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy for a backup spot on the initial 53-man roster, and he could give himself a leg up with another solid performance against Minnesota.

  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Two drives, two TD passes

Mahomes completed 12 of 19 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 24-14 preseason win over Washington.

Mahomes played only two possessions but was dominant while in the game, capping them with touchdown passes of five and seven yards, both to Jody Fortson. The superstar quarterback looks like he's in midseason form, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Mahomes get the night off for Kansas City's preseason finale Thursday against the Packers.

  • Derek Carr QB | NO

Raiders' Derek Carr: Not dressed for Saturday's game

Carr and many other Raiders starters aren't in uniform for Saturday's preseason game against Miami, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

Carr and Davante Adams are among the players not in uniform, sitting out for a third straight week.

  • Trey Lance QB | LAC

49ers' Trey Lance: Not playing this weekend

Lance and most other starters will be held out of Saturday's preseason game against Minnesota, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Nate Sudfeld figures to start at QB with the Niners resting most of their key players. Lance did well in the preseason opener with four completions for 92 yards and a TD on five pass attempts. George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk are among the other 49ers considered highly unlikely to play Saturday night.

  • Kirk Cousins QB | LV

Vikings' Kirk Cousins: Not playing Saturday

Cousins and most other starters are not expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the 49ers.

The list also includes RB Dalvin Cook and each of the team's top three wide receivers (Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, K.J. Osborn). With Cousins out, Sean Mannion and Kellen Mond are Minnesota's two options under center.
