Felton carried seven times for a team-high 36 yards and caught all three targets for 12 yards in Thursday's preseason game against Philadelphia. He also returned two punts for four yards and one kickoff for nine yards.

Felton and John Kelly alternated series in the first half, as neither Nick Chubb nor Jerome Ford (hamstring) played. On results alone, Felton had the better game. Kelly rushed eight times for 20 yards and lost a red-zone fumble on Cleveland's opening drive. The two are battling for the third running back job, which takes on significance in light of Ford's injury.

Scott rushed once for minus-1 yard and did not draw a target in the Eagles' 18-18 preseason tie with the Browns on Thursday night.

Scott's forgettable showing may have done significant damage to his chances of securing a roster spot, especially with Trey Sermon having put together an impressive performance that included a 33-yard touchdown run. The 28-year-old has the experience edge on Sermon, but he may need a standout performance in next Thursday's home preseason finale against the Colts to vault over his teammate in the minds of the coaching staff.

Gainwell rushed twice for six yards in the Eagles' 18-18 preseason tie with the Browns on Thursday night.

Gainwell was the first Eagles back to record a touch, but that carry went for a two-yard loss that resulted in a safety. The 2021 fifth-round pick saw one of his competitors for a reserve running back role, Trey Sermon, outperform him by a wide margin with a five-carry, 54-yard, one-touchdown tally on the ground and a 14-yard reception, so the pressure could be on Gainwell during Philadelphia's preseason finale against the Colts at home next Thursday.

Penny rushed twice for 18 yards and wasn't targeted during the Eagles' 18-18 preseason tie with the Browns on Thursday night.

Penny was the third Eagles running back to record a touch in the contest despite the fact D'Andre Swift got the night off, and he gained 16 of his yards on one carry. The workload was much more abbreviated than Penny's nine-carry tally in the exhibition opener against the Ravens, and it could well be the 2018 first-round pick doesn't see action in Philadelphia's preseason finale at home versus the Colts next Thursday.

Kelly was stymied on the ground as his final line indicates, and his fumble at the Eagles' three-yard line that short-circuited the Browns' opening drive was naturally a critical mistake. The 2018 sixth-round pick of the Rams has now had poor outings in back-to-back preseason contests, and Demetric Felton appears to be clearly ahead of him in the battle for the No. 3 running back role heading into Cleveland's preseason finale against the Chiefs on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Penny is in uniform ahead of Thursday's preseason contest against the Browns, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports.

After Penny and fellow offseason addition D'Andre Swift played in the Eagles' exhibition opener, Swift is expected to get the night off Thursday, while Penny is not. Meanwhile, Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott appear to be available along with Penny after the first two sat out this past Saturday's game. Penny opened the preseason with nine carries for 34 yards and no catches (on one target) in Baltimore.

Swift isn't in uniform ahead of Thursday's preseason game versus the Browns, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.

Meanwhile, Rashaad Penny, Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott and Trey Sermon are suited up, per Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal. Both Swift and Penny played in preseason Week 1 at Baltimore, while Gainwell and Scott did not, so Swift's absence this time around may be indicative of his standing in the Eagles backfield. Swift had two carries for 24 yards, including a 22-yard run, versus the Ravens.

Chubb isn't slated to play in Thursday's preseason contest against the Eagles.

With Chubb and fellow RB Jerome Ford (hamstring) among the Browns' key players not in line to see action Thursday, Demetric Felton, John Kelly, Hassan Hall and Jordan Wilkins are available to log carries. Chubb's final opportunity to see preseason work arrives on Saturday, Aug. 26 against the Chiefs.

Pierce expects to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Pierce didn't play in last Thursday's preseason opener against the Patriots, but it appears as though the 2022 fourth-rounder will log some playing time this weekend. As the coming season approaches, Pierce is poised to continue to head a Texans backfield that also includes veteran newcomer Devin Singletary, as well as Mike Boone, Dare Ogunbowale and Gerrid Doaks.

Coach Pete Carroll said Walker (groin) participated fully at Thursday's practice, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Walker has been dealing with a minor groin strain since the first day of training camp. After returning to practice this past Saturday, he was spotted working in individual and blocking drills Wednesday, but team drills weren't on the docket for him until Thursday, per Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle. It's unclear if the Seahawks will clear Walker to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys, but such a decision may not beome known until shortly before the 10:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
