Dillon gained one yard on one carry and caught his only target for four yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Texans.

With Aaron Jones (hamstring) getting the night off, Dillon started in the Packers' backfield alongside Jordan Love (shoulder), but the second-year RB made a quick exit after a couple possessions. Dillon is locked into the No. 2 spot on the Green Bay depth chart, but if Jones has trouble staying healthy -- he's played all 16 games only once in four seasons -- his understudy has the talent to make an impact with significant touches.

Jones gained zero yards on his only carry in Saturday's preseason loss to the Bengals.

All three of the Bucs' top running backs (Jones, Leonard Fournette and former Bengal Giovani Bernard) saw snaps on Tampa Bay's first possession of the night while Tom Brady was under center, and all three quickly came out of the game afterward, offering little clarity on how coach Bruce Arians plans to deploy the trio come Week 1. Jones racked up four 100-yard games in 2020 and just missed recording his first 1,000-yard campaign, but he took a back seat to Fournette in the postseason. If that usage pattern from last year is any indication, Arians will alternately ride the hot hand and stick someone in his doghouse, making it difficult to predict which RB might go off in any given week.

Evans carried the ball 12 times for 25 yards and a touchdown while catching all four of his targets for 33 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Buccaneers.

A sixth-round pick in the 2021 draft, Evans is competing for the passing-down role vacated by Giovani Bernard, and the rookie made a good impression in his first game action for the Bengals. Evans was the third running back into the game for Cincinnati after Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine, an indication that Evans is perhaps in the lead for that No. 3 spot on the depth chart.

Perine gained five yards on three carries in Saturday's preseason win over the Buccaneers.

The 25-year-old handled only the Bengals' second possession after Joe Mixon was on the field for the first, and the fact that Perine didn't see more snaps is a good sign he's locked into the No. 2 spot on the depth chart. Perine had a big finish to 2020 but would need another Mixon injury to see significant touches during the regular season.

Funk rushed five times for 12 yards and brought in his only target for minus-5 yards in the Rams' 13-6 preseason loss to the Chargers on Saturday night.

The rookie recently received praise from head coach Sean McVay for his work in training camp thus far, but he was unable to validate the accolades much Saturday with an inefficient performance. Funk should still have an inside track to a roster spot with Cam Akers' Achilles injury opening up a clearer path to such, and he'll look to acquit himself more impressively against the Raiders in next Saturday night's preseason clash.

Kelley rushed eight times for 19 yards and caught one of three targets for minus-3 yards in the Chargers' 13-6 preseason win over the Rams on Saturday night.

Kelley tied Larry Rountree for the team lead in carries, but he produced just 2.4 yards per rush while seeing his backfield mate rack up 7.9 yards per attempt. Kelley enjoyed a solid role early last season as a rookie with 173 total yards in the first two games, yet his production and involvement were typically both more modest from that point forward. Kelley is looking to fight off Rountree for the likely third running back role, and he'll have to make a better impression in the Chargers' second preseason game against the 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 22.

Dallas rushed five times for 24 yards, secured both of his targets for 45 yards and a touchdown, and returned two kickoffs for 55 yards in the Seahawks' 20-7 preseason loss to the Raiders on Saturday night.

The University of Miami product made an excellent impression in his bid to win the third-down back role, with his 43-yard touchdown grab early in the third quarter offering a tangible reminder of his pass-catching acumen. Dallas easily outshined one of his primary competitors in Alex Collins during Saturday night's game, while Travis Homer (calf) remains on the PUP list and is therefore missing out on opportunities to make his own case for the job. Dallas will look to put together a successful encore to Saturday's effort in the Seattle's second preseason contest against the Broncos next Saturday.

Edwards-Helaire rushed four times for 16 yards and caught his lone target for five yards in Saturday's 19-16 preseason win over the 49ers.

Edwards-Helaire got off to a hot start with a 10-yard gain on the Chiefs' first play of the game. He totaled just six yards on his next three carries, and his night was finished after just two series. The 2020 first-round pick likely will have a cap on his preseason reps if he even dresses for either of the next two games, as he has the starting role locked up.

Hasty carried 10 times for 61 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 19-16 preseason loss to the Chiefs. He also caught his lone target for five yards.

Hasty led the 49ers' backfield in yards, but he didn't receive his first touch until the third quarter, when Josh Rosen had taken over under center. While we can't draw conclusions from a preseason game, Hasty should add dependable depth in the 49ers' backfield that is already dealing with serious injuries to Jeff Wilson (knee) and Elijah Mitchell (hip).

Felton recorded four receptions on six targets for 44 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars.

Felton was drafted as a hybrid running back-wide receiver and has gotten work at both positions in camp. However, it was recently reported that he has worked primarily with the receiver group in practice, and that came to fruition in the preseason opener. The highlight of Felton's performance came late in the second quarter when he hauled in a 25-yard reception. Felton's best chance to make the roster is likely as a special teams contributor, though he performed well with his opportunity in his first game as a pro.
