  • Nick Chubb RB | HOU

Browns' Nick Chubb: Designated for return to practice

The Browns designated Chubb (knee) for return from injured reserve Monday.

Chubb's recovery timeframe puts him on track to resume practicing this week and potentially retake the field against Houston on Sunday, and being designated to return from IR is the first step in that process. A sprained MCL in his right knee has sidelined Chubb since Week 4, during which time Kareem Hunt has functioned as Cleveland's primary ball carrier. Once Chubb is back at full strength, he and Hunt stand to resume running as a lethal tandem.

  • Bears' David Montgomery: In concussion protocol

Montgomery suffered a concussion during Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Titans, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Montgomery got shaken up in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss, prior to which he had 14 carries for 30 yards and three catches for 12 yards (on three targets). The second-year pro now will need to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol before retaking the field, which puts his availability for Week 10's Monday Night Football contest against the Vikings in some jeopardy. With Tarik Cohen (knee) already out for the year with a torn ACL, the Bears only have Cordarrelle Patterson, Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce behind Montgomery.

  • D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE

    Titans' D'Onta Foreman: Role increasing

Foreman carried the ball five times for 11 yards in Week 9 against the Bears.

Foreman logged five carries for the second consecutive week, this time receiving more work than Jeremy McNichols. It's not entirely clear that Foreman has surpassed McNichols, however, as McNichols was on the field for 29 percent of offensive snaps in contrast to Foreman's 15 percent rate. Also worth considering is that Darrynton Evans (hamstring) is eligible to be activated from injured reserve as early as the team's Week 10 matchup against the Colts and would likely slot back in as the team's second back.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Could miss Week 10

McCaffrey could miss time with a shoulder injury, and his status is "very much in doubt" for Week 10 against Tampa Bay, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

McCaffrey piled up 151 total yards and two touchdowns while playing 71 percent of offensive snaps Sunday against the Chiefs, but he was injured on the final drive of the game and now needs testing to evaluate his shoulder. Depending on the results, Mike Davis could get another shot in the lead backfield role for Carolina.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Leads team with three carries

Jones rushed three times for nine yards and caught three passes (four targets) for nine yards in Sunday's 38-3 loss to New Orleans.

Jones' three carries actually led all Buccaneers rushers (Leonard Fournette received the only other carry) after the team shifted to throwing on every down after falling behind big early. The 23-year-old now has two disappointing performances in a row, although we can pretty much throw this contest out completely based on the game script. Fournette had seen his usage rise in the two weeks prior to Sunday's stinker, so a two-back system appears to be developing in Tampa Bay. Jones is still the preferred back for fantasy purposes, as he is ahead of Fournette in terms of carries and goal-line chances, while the latter has received more looks in the passing game. The rushing attack will look to get back on track against a Carolina defense that is surrendering 114.3 rushing yards per game this season.

  • Salvon Ahmed RB | CHI

Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Solid in limited action

Ahmed had seven carries for 38 yards during Sundays' 34-31 win over the Cardinals.

Ahmed had three less carries than Jordan Howard, but he managed to double the 25-year-old bruiser's rushing yardage. The undrafted rookie out of Washington could find himself worthy of fantasy consideration in deep formats if Matt Breida (hamstring) also misses Week 10 against the Chargers, though Howard seems like the clear favorite for short-yardage work around the red zone.

  • Alvin Kamara RB | NO

Saints' Alvin Kamara: TD salvages modest production

Kamara rushed nine times for 40 yards and a touchdown, adding five receptions (six targets) for nine yards in Sunday's 38-3 win over Tampa Bay.

The Saints went up big on the Buccaneers early and did not look back. Drew Brees spread the ball around to a career-high 12 receivers, which is part of the reason Kamara only received 14 touches. The lopsided game script allowed New Orleans to milk the clock in the second half, and they used the bruising Latavius Murray (10 carries for 39 yards) to accomplish that while keeping Kamara healthy. The 25-year-old was averaging 10.1 receptions per game prior to Sunday's contest, but the return of star wideout Michael Thomas (five receptions for 51 yards) could cut into the dual-threat back's target share down the stretch. That said, Kamara will remain a focal part of New Orleans' offense both as a rusher and a receiving threat out of the backfield heading into a soft matchup against the 49ers on Sunday.

  • Dolphins' Patrick Laird: Barely involved in narrow win

Laird had one carry for a loss of one yard and caught his only target for 17 yards during Sunday's 34-31 win over the Cardinals.

Laird was relegated to a reserve role behind Jordan Howard (10 carries) and Salvon Ahmed (seven carries), even on a day when both Myles Gaskin (knee) and Matt Breida (hamstring) were unavailable. He'll remain off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Chargers.

  • Tony Pollard RB | TEN

Cowboys' Tony Pollard: Sees usual role Sunday

Pollard carried the ball nine times for 57 yards and caught one of two targets for one yard in Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Steelers.

Ezekiel Elliott was a game-time decision Sunday due to a minor hamstring strain, opening up the possibility of an increased role for Pollard, but Elliott wound up getting 20 touches and his backup saw his usual volume -- Pollard has gotten 8-12 touches in each of the last five games. The second-year back did set a season high in rushing yards against Pittsburgh, but with the Cowboys headed into their bye week, Elliott should be at 100 percent for Week 11's clash with the Vikings, closing the door for now on a boost in Pollard's fantasy value.

  • Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Big workload in Sunday's loss

Elliott carried the ball 18 times for 51 yards and caught two of three targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Steelers.

The running back was a game-time decision due to a minor hamstring strain, but Elliott was deemed good to go after pregame warmups and wound up seeing 20 or more touches for the eighth time in nine games this season. He wasn't particularly productive, however, failing to find the end zone for the fourth straight contest -- in fact, Elliott hasn't scored since Dak Prescott (ankle) was lost for the year. He'll get a week to rest and heal up during the Cowboys' bye before facing the Vikings in Week 11.
