  • Cam Akers RB | SEA

Rams' Cam Akers: Not in line to practice Thursday

Akers (ribs) isn't slated to practice Thursday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Akers emerged from the Rams' Week 2 win at Philadelphia with separated rib cartilage, which is threatening to hold him out of the first two sessions of this week. Coach Sean McVay even told Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com on Thursday that Akers "isn't coming along as quickly as anticipated" in his recovery. Akers still has chances to step on the practice field before week's end, but if he's absent or limited Sunday in Buffalo, the Rams will turn to some combination of Malcolm Brown (finger) and Darrell Henderson out of the backfield.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Misses another practice

    Jacobs (hip) didn't practice Thursday.

With back-to-back absences to start the practice week, what Jacobs does Friday will be pivotal with regard to his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots. It's still possible that his reps simply are being managed, but if Jacobs ends up out or limited at all this weekend, Jalen Richard and Devontae Booker are next up for the Raiders' backfield touches.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Upgrades to full practice

Updating a previous report, Perine (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.

Head coach Adam Gase suggested prior to the practice that Perine would be a limited participant, but the Jets evidently felt that the rookie was capable of handling more work as the session unfolded. With the full workout under his belt, Perine should enter Sunday's game in Indianapolis without an injury designation, and he'll likely be in store for an enhanced role after making the most of his limited snaps in the Week 2 loss to the 49ers (three carries for 17 yards). Frank Gore is expected to remain the Jets' lead back Week 3, but expect Perine to cut into his workload after the veteran played 57 percent of the team's offensive snaps against San Francisco.

  • 49ers' Raheem Mostert: Absent from practice

Mostert (knee) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Mostert wasn't in attendance for the 49ers' second practice in a row, with Matt Barrows of The Athletic relaying that the running back left the team and headed to Cleveland to witness the birth of his second child. The 49ers may not even ask Mostert to return to the East Coast before Sunday's game against the Giants, as the running back wasn't expected to be available for the contest anyway after suffering a sprained MCL during the Week 2 win over the Jets. The injury isn't believed to be a major concern, as Mostert could be a candidate to play Week 4 against Philadelphia if he's able to get back on the practice field in some capacity. At least for the Week 3 matchup, however, the 49ers will likely lean on Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson to handle most of the reps out of the backfield.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Limited again in practice

Perine (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.

Despite having his reps capped in both of the Jets' first two practices of the week, Perine is still believed to be on track to play Sunday against the Colts. If Perine is active this weekend, coach Adam Gase hinted Thursday that the rookie could be more involved after he carried three times for 17 yards while playing nine offensive snaps in last week's loss to the 49ers, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Frank Gore still projects to serve as the Jets' lead option on the ground, though he may cede some touches to Perine and/or Kalen Ballage (ribs) after carrying 21 times against San Francisco.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Not spotted at start of practice

Jacobs (hip) wasn't spotted at the start of Thursday's practice, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.

We'll have to see if the running back officially ends up listed as limited or as a non-participant Thursday. If he does go down as a non-participant for the second day in a row, then what Jacobs is able to do on the field Friday will be telling with regard to his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

  • Zack Moss RB | CIN

Bills' Zack Moss: Not practicing again

Moss (toe) isn't on the field for Thursday's practice, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

He'll go down as a non-participant for the second day in a row, leaving his status uncertain for Sunday's game against the Rams. Before determining whether he'll carry a designation into the Week 3 contest, the Bills will see what Moss can do during their final practice session Friday. If Moss ends up missing the first game of his career, starting running back Devin Singletary -- who hasn't played more than 60 percent of the offensive snaps in either of the Bills' first two contests -- will likely be headed for a bigger workload.

  • Austin Walter: Finds new home

Walter has inked a deal with the 49ers' practice squad.

Walter came into the league with San Francisco after he was undrafted in the 2019 draft. He's spent time with the Giants as well as in the XFL with Dallas the past two years, and he has just one game of NFL experience.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: No practice Wednesday

Jacobs (hip) was listed as a non-participant on the Raiders' estimated practice report released Wednesday.

The Raiders' initial injury report of the week is lengthy, but that's not a big surprise with the team having played two days earlier. Star tight end Darren Waller (knee) was also listed as a non-participant Wednesday, but the expectation is that both he and Jacobs will be able to practice in some capacity Thursday.

  • Corey Clement RB | ARI

Eagles' Corey Clement: No practice due to illness

Clement did not practice Wednesday due to an illness.

Clement should suit up against the Bengals on Sunday as long as he's able to shake his illness before the contest. The 25-year-old didn't see any touches Week 2 with Miles Sanders back in the lineup, so Clement's status won't carry much of a fantasy impact one way or another.
