  • J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN

Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Should have Week 1 role

Dobbins should be active for Sunday's game against Cleveland, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

The Ravens' PR staff put Dobbins fourth on the unofficial depth chart that was released Monday, which led to a bit of concern that the rookie might be lightly used -- or even inactive -- in the season opener. Zrebiec said he would be "shocked" if Dobbins is a healthy scratch, adding that the depth chart posted on the team website means nothing with regard to coach John Harbaugh's plans for Week 1. The longtime Ravens beat writer also mentions that Dobbins has seen a lot of practice reps on special teams, suggesting Baltimore is planning on the rookie being a key contributor on that unit. Mark Ingram is still expected to be the starter, but Dobbins should remain in the mix for some touches out of the backfield.

  • Jeremy McNichols: Joins Titans' practice squad

The Titans signed McNichols to the practice squad Monday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

McNichols didn't make Tennessee's initial regular-season roster, but he'll stick around as an emergency option on the practice squad. To begin the 2020 season, the Titans' only backups to Derrick Henry are Darrynton Evans (undisclosed) and Senorise Perry.

  • Miles Sanders RB | DAL

Eagles' Miles Sanders: Taking part in individual work

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson labeled Sanders (lower body) as day-to-day and said the running back would take part in individual work during Wednesday's practice, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

The Eagles' first official practice report will be released later Wednesday and will reveal how extensively Sanders was involved in the session, but based on Pederson's comments, expect the 23-year-old to be listed as a limited participant. Though the lower-body injury cost Sanders significant practice time during training camp, the Eagles remain optimistic that he'll be ready to headline the team's backfield in Sunday's season opener against Washington. If Sanders' recovery doesn't progress as expected and he ends up sitting out the Week 1 matchup or taking on a more limited workload than normal, Boston Scott and Corey Clement would be in store for heightened roles.

  • JaMycal Hasty: Joins 49ers' practice squad

The 49ers retained Hasty on their initial practice squad, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Hasty impressed the 49ers during training camp with his quickness and soft hands, but a crowded veteran backfield led to the undrafted rookie to be cut and eventually moved to the practice squad. San Francisco's current backs aren't the models of good health, so Hasty could find himself called upon (or poached by another club) at some point this season.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Makes 53-man roster

Wilson survived the 49ers' final roster cutdown over the weekend and will be one four runnings back on the team's 53-man unit heading into Sunday's season opener versus the Cardinals.

The top three remembers on the 49ers' running-back depth chart were already set in stone, so Wilson was primarily competing with undrafted rookie JaMycal Hasty for one roster spot. The former's inability to qualify for a traditional practice squad spot was likely enough to give him the edge over Hasty. Wilson should only be considered depth to begin the season, and he'll likely be one of the 49ers' healthy inactives Week 1.

  • Packers' Patrick Taylor: Added to NFI list

Taylor (undisclosed) was added to the reserve/non-football injury on Saturday, Mike Spofford of the team's official site reports.

Taylor spent all of training camp on the active/non-football injury list and will now shuffle to the NFI list for the remainder of the season as he continues to recover from an undisclosed injury.

  • John Kelly RB | CLE

    John Kelly: Joining Cleveland

The Browns signed Kelly to their practice squad Tuesday, Matt Zenitz of AL.com reports.

After the Rams selected him in the sixth round of the 2018 draft, Kelly wasn't afforded much opportunity in a backfield led by Todd Gurley. In the post-Gurley landscape, the RB group was trimmed down to a top three of Malcolm Brown, Darrell Henderson (hamstring) and Cam Akers. The Rams proceeded to waive Kelly, who now will look to work his way up to the Browns' active roster.

  • Tavien Feaster RB | JAC

    Tavien Feaster: Cut by Giants

The Giants waived Feaster on Saturday, Michael Eisen of the team's official site reports.

Feaster spent time with both the Jaguars and Giants in the offseason. In his final season at South Carolina, the undrafted rookie had 124 carries for 672 yards and five touchdowns.

  • Marcus Marshall: Done in Tennessee

The Titans cut Marshall on Sunday, Erik Bacharach of the Nashville Tennessean reports.

Marshall spent the offseason in Tennessee, but he didn't manage to earn a role on the regular-season roster. He spent the 2019 campaign on Kansas City's practice squad after having gone undrafted out of James Madison.

  • Cam Akers RB | SEA

Rams' Cam Akers: At bottom of depth chart

Akers is listed as the No. 3 running back behind Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson (hamstring) on the Rams' first unofficial depth chart of the 2020 season.

"Unofficial" is the key word here and should be taken with a grain of salt. As a five-year veteran and a player about to embark on his fourth season with coach Sean McVay, Brown had a clear path to the top job. Having said that, McVay himself told Kevin Modesti of the Los Angeles Daily News on Monday that he intends to use a three-back rotation, with touches to be handed out based on how Week 1 prep goes and how Sunday's game versus the Cowboys proceeds. Akers may have the most promise of the trio, but he'll seemingly work behind Brown and perhaps Henderson right away, based on how the latter's hamstring injury holds up this week.
