  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Aggravates ankle in loss

Breida (ankle) ran 10 times for 18 yards before leaving Monday's loss to Seattle with an ankle injury.

Breida carried a questionable tag for an ankle injury heading into the contest, and it appears that he re-injured that same ankle. The speedy back is sure to undergo an MRI this week to determine the severity of the injury. If Breida is unable to go, Raheem Mostert would enter the two-man rotation in a soft matchup against the Cardinals on Sunday.

  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Giants' Saquon Barkley: Dealing with shoulder injury

Barkley underwent an X-ray on his shoulder after Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Jets, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Barkley sat out Weeks 4 through 6 due to a high right ankle sprain. In four games in the meantime, he's been bottled up on the ground, posting increasingly worse YPC marks, with the nadir a 13-carry, one-yard performance versus the Jets. Despite the less-than-stellar work as a rusher, he's made his usual contributions through the air, averaging 5.5 catches for 46 yards per game. While his shoulder appears to be what's hindering him at the moment, Barkley will benefit from the Giants' Week 11 bye, with the team next taking the field Nov. 24 at Chicago.

  • 49ers' Raheem Mostert: Gets seven touches

Mostert rushed six times for 28 yards and caught his lone target for seven yards in Monday night's 27-24 overtime loss to the Seahawks.

Mostert was forced into a larger role after fellow tailback Matt Brieda was removed from the game due to an ankle injury. Although Mostert's overall production wasn't anything special, he was still efficient with his touches, as he usually is. With a season average of nearly 5.5 yards per rush, Mostert could gain value in Week 11 versus the Cardinals if Brieda's status is impacted by injury, as he'd then profile as San Francisco's top alternative to Tevin Coleman in the backfield.

  • Buccaneers' Dare Ogunbowale: Records three catches

Ogunbowale did not log any carries but secured all three of his targets for 24 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-27 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Ogunbowale saw T.J. Logan take the only running back carry that didn't go to Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones, but he was once again a modest presence in the passing game. Ogunbowale notched multiple grabs for the sixth time this season, and he continued to see his snap count from scrimmage remain over the 20-mark. Ogunbowale is slated for a similar third-down/pass-catching role against the Saints in Week 11.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Questionable to return

Breida is dealing with an ankle injury and is questionable to return to Monday's contest against the Seahawks.

Breida was limited all week in practice with an ankle injury and he seems to have aggravated the injury once again Monday night. Before exiting the contest, Brieda recorded 18 rushing yards on 10 attempts. Should he not return, Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert will be the only active running backs on the roster.

  • Zach Zenner RB | NO

Cardinals' Zach Zenner: Plays only special teams Week 10

Zenner played 13 special teams snaps during Sunday's 30-27 defeat at Tampa Bay.

In David Johnson's return to action, he split the work out of the backfield with Kenyan Drake, with the latter producing 41 yards from scrimmage to the former's 10. Meanwhile, Zenner didn't get involved in the offense at all, even with Chase Edmonds (hamstring) sidelined. The Cardinals haven't indicated when Edmonds will get back to full health, but Zenner doesn't appear to a part of the offensive game plan in the current setup at running back.

  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

Cardinals' Kenyan Drake: Solo runner down stretch Sunday

Coach Kliff Kingsbury admitted he went with Drake as the Cardinals' only running back during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 30-27 loss in Tampa Bay, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. "The last couple weeks, practice, games [he] has brought a little pop to the run game, the pass game, and we felt like he was the guy to try and close the game out with," Kingsbury said Monday.

Drake outsnapped (64 to 43 percent of the offensive plays) and got more touches (16 to six) than Johnson, who didn't take the field following his fumble late in the third quarter. As mentioned by Kingsbury, the decision seems to be a temporary thing, but he also wouldn't delve into how the RB reps will break down moving forward. The Cardinals were without Chase Edmonds on Sunday, and if/when he gets past his hamstring injury, Kingsbury may have a quandary on his hands as it pertains to his backfield.

  • Chiefs' Darwin Thompson: Two touches in Week 10

Thompson rushed just once for minus-1 yard and caught his only target for eight yards Sunday versus the Titans.

Thompson has come nowhere close to living up to his preseason hype, owning just five carries for eight yards through the first 10 games. Barring a rash of injuries in the backfield, Thompson is unlikely to see the field offensively for much more than a few snaps.

  • Chiefs' Darrel Williams: Three touches in Week 10

Wiliams rushed twice for six yards and reeled in his only target Sunday against the Titans.

Williams served as the team's No. 2 back Sunday with LeSean McCoy serving as a healthy scratch for maintenance purposes. Consequently, the second-year back saw a six-snap increase from the 11 he logged in Week 9. If McCoy is cleared to return next week, Williams should settle back into the third-string role.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Healthy scratch Monday

Wilson (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's game versus the Seahawks.

Raheem Mostert continues to play through a knee injury, but roster restrictions elsewhere seem to have forced coach Kyle Shanahan's hand. With Wilson sidelined, the 49ers will ride Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida out of the backfield while Mostert mostly is contained to special teams.
