JaMycal Hasty RB | NE
JaMycal Hasty: Joins Fins' practice squad
The Dolphins signed Hasty to the practice squad Thursday, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Hasty was unable to crack the Patriots' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he'll remain in the AFC East with the Dolphins' practice squad. With Jaylen Wright (leg) expected to miss multiple weeks, Hasty and Jeff Wilson are candidates to be called up to the active roster for Week 1 against the Colts on Sunday, Sept. 7. Hasty appeared in 15 regular-season games for New England in 2024 and logged 20 carries for 69 yards while adding 10 catches (on 12 targets) for 59 yards and at touchdown.

Ollie Gordon II RB | MIA
Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Facing early-season opportunity
Gordon looks set for a chance to immediately contribute on offense Week 1 versus the Colts, with De'Von Achane (calf) expected to play but Jaylen Wright (leg) a candidate to miss multiple weeks after undergoing surgery, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Gordon is fresh off an impressive preseason and is currently the only healthy running back on Miami's active roster, though Achane is expected to be ready for Week 1 despite not having practiced since Aug. 16. The team has added a pair of depth backfield options to the practice squad in Jeff Wilson and JaMycal Hasty, but after looking like the Dolphins' best running back in three consecutive preseason games, Gordon should be the favorite to handle any additional available backfield reps Week 1. If Achane ends up limited in practice leading up to the regular-season opener, it's possible Gordon is tasked with a significant workload.

Jaylen Wright RB | MIA
Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Recovering from surgery
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Thursday that Wright (leg) is recovering from surgery and is expected to miss multiple weeks, including the team's Sept. 7 opener versus the Colts, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
McDaniel said Wright underwent a "small procedure," adding that the running back is expected to return to action around "Septemberish," per C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald. As such, the Dolphins seemingly don't consider Wright to be a candidate for injured reserve, which would force him to miss at least four games of the season. De'Von Achane (calf) remains on track for Week 1, and rookie sixth-round pick Ollie Gordon will be in position to kick off the season as the clear No. 2 backfield option with Wright unavailable. The team also signed Jeff Wilson and JaMycal Hasty to the practice squad.

Donovan Edwards RB | MIA
Donovan Edwards: Lands with Commanders
Washington signed Edwards to the practice squad Wednesday, Commanders writer Ben Standig reports.
Edwards spent the preseason with the Jets and flashed potential. He fell short of a roster spot in a crowded backfield, but he'll have a new opportunity with the Commanders, who have a less settled running back depth chart.

Carlos Washington Jr. RB | ATL
Carlos Washington: Back with Atlanta
The Falcons signed Washington to the practice squad Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Washington was unable to play in any of the Falcons' three preseason games due to a hamstring injury, but he'll stick around in Atlanta on the team's practice squad. He spent most of the 2024 season on the Falcons' practice squad but did play 11 snaps on special teams in Week 18 against the Panthers.

Brittain Brown RB | CHI
Brittain Brown: Heads to practice squad
Brown signed to the Bears' practice squad Wednesday.
The running back got waived Tuesday after spending about two weeks in Chicago's training camp. Brown, a seventh-round pick of the Raiders in 2022, last saw regular-season action that same year, though he didn't play on any offensive snaps.

Xazavian Valladay RB | MIN
Xazavian Valladay: Sticking around Minnesota
Valladay was signed to the Vikings' practice squad Wednesday, Craig Peters of the team's official website reports.
Valladay went unclaimed on waivers after being cut by Minnesota on Tuesday, and he will now stick around as a member of the team's practice unit. The running back will look to earn an elevation to the active roster at some point this season.

Pierre Strong Jr. RB | GB
Browns' Pierre Strong: Reverts to IR
Strong (undisclosed) cleared waivers Wednesday and reverted to injured reserve, per the NFL's official media site.
Strong was evaluated for a concussion during the team's final preseason game, but there was never a confirmed diagnosis. The 2022 fourth-round pick will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Browns. Ahead of Week 1, the Browns have running backs Jerome Ford, Dylan Sampson and Raheim Sanders in the mix while Quinshon Judkins remains unsigned.

Jermar Jefferson RB | ARI
Jermar Jefferson: Signed to Titans' practice squad
The Titans signed Jefferson to the practice squad Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Jefferson was unable to make the Titans' 53-man roster after finishing the preseason with nine carries for 59 yards and one touchdown along with an 11-yard catch in three preseason games. The 2021 seventh-rounder will stay in Tennessee as part of the team's practice squad, but he could be elevated to the active roster for the Titans' regular-season opener against the Broncos on Sunday, Sept. 7 if Kalel Mullings (ankle) is not cleared to play.

Darrynton Evans RB | BUF
Darrynton Evans: Reaches injury settlement
Evans (hamstring) was released from injured reserve by the Bills with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Evans played in just one preseason game for the Bills before suffering a hamstring injury. The 2020 third-round pick has struggled to find a home and stay healthy in the NFL, spending time with the Titans, Bears and Dolphins since entering the league but never playing more than seven regular-season games in a season. Once he's healthy, he'll be able to sign with another team, although a practice squad is his most likely destination.
