  • Jordan Mims RB | TEN

    Jordan Mims: Staying in Tennessee

The Titans signed Mims to the practice squad Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

Mims finished the preseason with 28 carries for 98 yards and six catches on as many targets for 33 yards, but he wasn't able to crack the Titans' 53-man roster Tuesday. He'll stay in Tennessee as a part of the team's practice squad, and he could be elevated to the active roster for the Titans' Week 1 contest against the Broncos if Kalel Mullings (ankle) is unable to play.

  • Corey Kiner RB | ARI

Corey Kiner: Waived with injury settlement

Kiner (ankle) was waived from injured reserve by the 49ers with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Kiner suffered a high-ankle sprain during the 49ers' second preseason game and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. Due to his injury settlement, he'll be free to sign with a new team once he's healthy. The undrafted rookie posted 1,153 yards and four touchdowns on 204 carries (5.7 YPC) through 12 games at Cincinnati.

  • Jacardia Wright: Stays on practice squad

Wright signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Wednesday.

At times Wright looked like the best running back during the preseason with 21 carries for 147 yards (7.0 YPC) and a touchdown, including a 61-yard run. However, George Holani also excelled against tougher competition and secured the No. 3 role. Wright will join fellow rookie running backs Damien Martinez and Anthony Tyus on the practice squad.

  • Phil Mafah RB | DAL

Cowboys' Phil Mafah: Officially lands on IR

The Cowboys placed Mafah (shoulder) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Mafah suffered a shoulder injury during the preseason finale and will now be sidelined for a minimum of the first four games of the regular season. He'll likely be buried on the depth chart when he returns, but the Cowboys' running back situation is quite uncertain entering the season.

  • Nyheim Hines: Goes to Bolts' practice squad

The Chargers signed Hines to their practice squad Wednesday.

Just a day after being waived by the Chargers, Hines is already back with the club on their practice squad. His last regular-season action came back in 2022, when he turned 54 touches into 274 scrimmage yards over 16 games with the Bills and the Colts.

  • Anthony Tyus: Earns spot on practice squad

Tyus signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Wednesday.

Tyus will join fellow rookie running backs Damien Martinez (seventh round) and Jacardia Wright (undrafted) on the Seahawks' practice squad. Tyus finished the preseason with just 21 carries for 55 yards (2.6 YPC) and one catch for two yards. He's a long shot to get called up to the active roster.

  • Damien Martinez: Sticks on Seahawks' practice squad

Martinez signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Wednesday.

Martinez was highly touted even as a seventh-round pick due to a productive collegiate career during which he rushed for 2,187 yards (6.2 YPC) and 19 touchdowns over his final two seasons. However, the Miami product had an underwhelming preseason with just 84 yards on 24 carries (3.5 YPC) and was clearly outplayed by second-year back George Holani, who earned a spot on the active roster. Martinez is still just 21 years old and will have time to develop in a system that's favorable to running backs. If one of Holani, Kenneth Walker or Zach Charbonnet gets injured, either Martinez or Jacardia Wright will likely be brought up from the practice squad.

  • Jacob Saylors RB | DET

Jacob Saylors: Gets spot on practice squad

Saylors signed with the Lions' practice squad Wednesday.

Saylors is entering his third season in the NFL but has yet to play in a regular-season game. He was highly productive over his past two seasons at East Tennessee State, but he'll need injuries to pile up before he gets a shot on the active roster.

  • Khalil Herbert RB | NYJ

Khalil Herbert: Lands on practice squad

Herbert signed to the Colts' practice squad Wednesday.

The running back was released Tuesday after falling short of the team's 53-man roster, and while he may have been expected to end up with another team given his experience in the league, Herbert cleared waivers and remained with Indy. The former Bengal and Bear initially signed with the Colts in March after appearing in 14 regular-season games for the aforementioned teams in 2024, but he failed to make the roster after missing the last two preseason games with an undisclosed injury. Healthy now, Herbert is perhaps a candidate for a call-up if the Colts need running back help behind Jonathan Taylor during the regular season.

  • Ulysses Bentley: Signs to practice squad

Bentley signed to the Colts' practice squad Wednesday.

The running back was waived Tuesday after failing to make the 53-man roster, but he was able to return to Indianapolis after clearing waivers. In the preseason, Bentley recorded 22 carries for 94 yards and two scores as well as two catches for 13 yards. The Colts' running back room is led by Jonathan Taylor, though it is thin behind him.
