  • Ulysses Bentley: Signs to practice squad

Bentley signed to the Colts' practice squad Wednesday.

The running back was waived Tuesday after failing to make the 53-man roster, but he was able to return to Indianapolis after clearing waivers. In the preseason, Bentley recorded 22 carries for 94 yards and two scores as well as two catches for 13 yards. The Colts' running back room is led by Jonathan Taylor, though it is thin behind him.

  • Terrell Jennings: Sticking around New England

Jennings was signed to the Patriots' practice squad Wednesday.

Jennings went unclaimed on waivers after being cut loose by the team Tuesday, and he will now stick around New England as a member of the practice unit. The running back played in three regular-season contests with the Patriots in 2024, so he's certainly familiar with the organization.

  • D'Ernest Johnson: Returning to Baltimore

The Ravens signed Johnson to the practice squad Wednesday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.

Johnson joined the Ravens in early August with the aim of making the 53-man roster, but he failed to beat out Rasheen Ali for the RB4 spot. Johnson will return to the Ravens on the practice squad and is a candidate to be elevated to the active roster if Ali, Keaton Mitchell, Justice Hill or Derrick Henry are unable to play. Johnson logged 46 carries for 163 yards and two touchdowns while adding five catches (on eight targets) for 26 yards across the Ravens' three preseason games.

  • Jordan James RB | SF

49ers' Jordan James: Back on practice field

James (finger) returned to practice Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

James missed some time early in training camp due to a knee injury and then broke a finger not long afterward that required surgery, resulting in him missing the 49ers' entire preseason slate. Despite the time away from the field, the rookie fifth-round pick survived roster cuts and resides in a backfield led by Christian McCaffrey and followed by newcomer Brian Robinson and second-year pro Isaac Guerendo. As a result, James may be a regular inactive on game days, even when he's healthy enough to be available.

  • Malik Davis RB | DAL

Malik Davis: Joins Cowboys' practice squad

Davis was signed to the Cowboys' practice squad Wednesday.

Davis cleared waivers after being let go Tuesday, and he will now stick around Dallas as a member of the team's practice unit. The running back didn't appear in a regular-season game with the team in 2024 after three appearances the year before, so he'll look to earn an elevation again in 2025.

  • Cody Schrader RB | DEN

Cody Schrader: Staying in Los Angeles

The Rams signed Schrader to the practice squad Wednesday, Wyatt Miller of the team's official site reports.

Schrader will stay in Los Angeles as a member of the Rams' practice squad after he failed to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. The second-year running back logged 27 carries for 120 yards and three catches (on four targets) for 33 yards across the Rams' three preseason games.

  • Ronnie Rivers RB | LAR

Ronnie Rivers: Back to practice squad

The Rams signed Rivers to the practice squad Wednesday, Wyatt Miller of the team's official site reports.

Rivers failed to beat out Jarquez Hunter for the RB3 spot on the Rams' 53-man roster. Rivers will stick around on the practice squad and would be a candidate to be elevated to the active roster if Hunter, Kyren Williams or Blake Corum were unable to play.

  • Dante Miller RB | NYG

    Dante Miller: Staying with G-Men

The Giants signed Miller to the practice squad Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

Miller made a strong case to make the Giants' 53-man roster after logging 14 catches (on as many targets) for 135 yards and 26 carries for 80 yards across three preseason games. He ultimately didn't make the cut after the Giants opted to go with three running backs on the main roster in Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary and rookie fourth-rounder Cam Skattebo. Miller will stick around in New York on the Giants' practice squad, and he would be a top candidate to be elevated to the active roster if Tracy, Singletary or Skattebo were unavailable to play.

  • Ja'Quinden Jackson: Back in Duval on practice squad

The Jaguars signed Jackson to the practice squad Wednesday.

Jackson was unable to beat out rookie seventh-rounder LeQuint Allen for the RB4 spot on the Jags' 53-man roster, but the former will stay in Jacksonville on the team's practice squad. Jackson finished the preseason with 13 carries for 56 yards while adding two catches (on as many targets) for 13 yards.

  • Kimani Vidal RB | LAC

Kimani Vidal: Back to practice squad

The Chargers signed Vidal to the practice squad Wednesday.

Vidal couldn't earn a spot on Los Angeles' initial 53-man roster entering Year 2, but the 2024 sixth-round pick will stick around in an emergency reserve role on the practice squad. Across 10 regular-season appearances as a rookie in 2024, Vidal rushed just 43 times for 155 yards (3.6 YPC) and zero touchdowns. He also secured five of nine targets for 62 yards and one score.
