  • Hassan Haskins RB | LAC

Chargers' Hassan Haskins: Scores touchdown in win

Haskins caught both of his targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in the 34-27 win over the Broncos on Thursday.

Haskins isn't known for his receiving prowess. In fact, Thursday accounted for the second-year back's first two receptions of the 2024 campaign, and he now has just 13 total across his career despite playing 216 offensive snaps. While the 25-year-old showcased his impressive footwork by juking out a Denver defender en route to 34-yard checkdown touchdown where he effectively went untouched, that type of result isn't likely to occur again.

  • Patriots' Terrell Jennings: Gets roster spot with New England

The Patriots signed Jennings to their 53-man roster Saturday, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports.

New England originally gave Jennings a look by signing him as an undrafted free agent in mid-May. The Florida A&M product didn't make the Pats' roster out of training camp, but he has been on the team's practice squad and was elevated for Week 6 against Houston, when he carried five times for 13 yards. Jennings will provide running back depth Sunday against Buffalo due to JaMycal Hasty being ruled out with an ankle injury, and given New England's current 3-11 record, the team may elect to give Jennings a longer look before the regular season is over.

  • Kimani Vidal RB | LAC

Chargers' Kimani Vidal: Used sparingly in win

Vidal carried the ball five times for 24 yards in the 34-27 win over the Broncos on Thursday.

It was Gus Edwards' time to shine Thursday, as the bruising back helped the team complete a feverish second-half rally, finishing with 14 carries for 68 yards and two touchdowns. This very much felt like the Chargers acknowledging Edwards was the hot hand Thursday, as game script wouldn't necessarily suggest the power back being a focal point. As such, Vidal was simply an afterthought. The rookie did rip off a 19-yard run, his longest of the season, but otherwise was just used sparingly. Given the wide degree of variance week to week from this platoon backfield, it's hard to assume Vidal will be a fantasy factor Week 17 against the Patriots.

  • Browns' Pierre Strong: Elevates to No. 2

Strong will serve as the backup running back Sunday against the Bengals.

With Nick Chubb (foot) on season-ending injured reserve, Jerome Ford becomes the lead runner, with Strong and D'Onta Foreman getting evaluation opportunities over the final three weeks, per Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Strong is under contract for next season while Foreman is not. When both Chubb and Ford were healthy over the last six games, Strong had just four carries for 13 yards and two catches (two targets) for nine yards.

  • Michael Burton FB | DEN

Broncos' Michael Burton: Finds end zone in loss

Burton caught all three of his targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 34-27 loss to the Chargers.

Burton's touchdown was his first score through the air this season and second trip to the end zone overall in 2024. The veteran fullback played just 10 of the Broncos' 64 offensive snaps Thursday, playing in his usual part-time role in Denver's offense. Despite the score in Week 16, Burton remains far off the fantasy radar due to his extremely limited usage. Next up for the Broncos is a matchup against the Bengals in Week 17.

  • Blake Watson RB | TEN

Blake Watson: Reverts to practice squad

Watson reverted to the Broncos' practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Watson was elevated to Denver's active roster for the second time this season ahead of the Week 16 loss to the Chargers, taking four carries for 10 yards while catching one of his two targets for 13 yards over just 10 offensive snaps. The Memphis product could be elevated again for the Broncos' Week 17 matchup against the Bengals if Jaleel McLaughlin (quadriceps) is sidelined for the second consecutive game.

  • Lions' Craig Reynolds: In line for more carries

With David Montgomery (knee) out multiple weeks, Reynolds is expected to see an expanded role on offense Sunday against the Bears, Jared Ramsey of the Detroit Free Press reports.

As Ramsey notes, Reynolds played behind Jahmyr Gibbs in a game against the Raiders last season when Montgomery was sidelined and rushed 14 times for 74 yards. Montgomery and Gibbs have stayed relatively healthy this season prior to Montgomery's MCL injury last week versus Buffalo, and Reynolds has mainly been glued to special teams while handling garbage-time carries on offense. Reynolds has compiled a 12-51-0 rushing line on 39 offensive snaps all year. While Gibbs should be a candidate for 20-plus touches versus Chicago, Reynolds also may be involved and could even see double-digit carries. Rookie Sione Vaki also is in the mix for playing time, but Reynolds has operated as the RB3 much of the season. Reynolds is worth picking up in deeper fantasy leagues.

  • 49ers' Patrick Taylor: Favorite to replace Guerendo

Taylor is preparing for a larger role with fellow running back Isaac Guerendo (hamstring/foot) ruled out for Sunday's game at Miami, 95.7 The Game reports.

Taylor briefly handled the lead role when Guerendo suffered a foot injury in the second half of a 38-13 win over Chicago in Week 14. Taylor played 10 consecutive snaps right after Guerendo's early exit, taking six carries for 18 yards and a TD in that span, before the 49ers pulled a bunch of starters in garbage time and let Ke'Shawn Vaughn take the final two carries. Guerendo made it back for Week 15 to take 75 percent of snaps and all 20 RB touches, but he injured his hamstring along the way and now will miss at least one week, leaving Taylor, Vaughn (practice squad) and Israel Abanikanda as the healthy RBs for an offense that's typically been extremely friendly to the position. Of course, this year's version of the San Francisco offense hasn't been nearly as powerful as the pre-2024 version, and star left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) will join Guerendo on the inactive list ahead of Sunday's road matchup with a solid Miami defense.

  • Tony Pollard RB | TEN

Titans' Tony Pollard: Questionable after another missed practice

Pollard (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts after not practicing this week, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Fortunately for those who would normally consider Pollard in fantasy lineups, the Titans kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, a scenario that would in most cases allow fantasy managers to turn to Week 16 pivot options if he's sidelined. If Pollard ends up limited or out versus Indianapolis, Tyjae Spears would be in line to see an expanded backfield role for Tennessee this weekend.

  • Bucky Irving RB | TB

Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Ready to play

Irving (back/hip) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Dallas, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Irving has been playing through the hip injury all month and made an early exit Week 14 due to the back injury. He still hasn't missed a game this season, coming back last week to take 15 carries for 117 yards in a 40-17 win over the Chargers. Rachaad White and Sean Tucker also got carries in the blowout win, but both padded their stats late in the game, especially Tucker. Prior to the final two drives, Irving took 53 percent of snaps and 17 of the 30 RB touches, which is probably a reasonable expectation for his share of Tampa Bay's backfield in Week 16.
