  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Logs three carries in preseason debut

Irving rushed three times for 14 yards in the Buccaneers' 16-15 preseason win over the Chiefs on Saturday.

Irving was one of the healthy Buccaneers offensive starters to suit up Saturday, and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson appeared intent on making sure the third-year back got his work in during his brief time in the game. Irving handled the ball in each of Tampa Bay's first three plays from scrimmage, with 12 of his 14 rushing yards coming on his first pair of touches. Following an injury-plagued 2025 season that saw him miss seven regular-season games, Irving is healthy ahead of the 2026 campaign and projected to handle a significant workload as both a runner and receiver following the replacement of free-agent departure Rachaad White with Kenny Gainwell, who's likely to vulture fewer rushing touches than the latter used to.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: To play in preseason Week 2

Coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Buccaneers starters, such as Irving, will play in Saturday's preseason game against the Chiefs, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Both Irving and fellow RB Kenny Gainwell were held out of Friday's preseason game at the Jets, but the pair are slated to get some run in Tampa Bay's second exhibition. After reeling off 1,514 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns in 17 regular-season games as a fourth-round rookie in 2024, Irving fell back to 865 total yards and four TDs in 10 appearances last regular season, mostly due to a cascade of health concerns. With Rachaad White moving on to Washington this offseason, Irving has a new running mate in Gainwell, and the breakdown of reps between the two remains to be seen.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Making impression on new OC

Irving has impressed new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson throughout training camp, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Irving is coming off of an injury-riddled sophomore campaign in 2025, being limited to just 10 regular-season contests. The running back compiled 588 rushing yards and one touchdown over 173 carries, which was rather disappointing after he registered 1,122 yards and eight scores on 207 rushes in 2024. He was also able to secure 30 catches for 277 yards last year, including the first three receiving scores of his career. Robinson has been impressed by Irving's ability to stay connected to the ground, allowing him to leave defenders in his dust. "He's always able to change direction and that keeps him so balanced to be able to break tackles," said Robinson. The OC spent the last two seasons calling plays for Atlanta's superstar running back Bijan Robinson, and Irving will look to elevate his performance within that system.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Full-go for training camp

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Irving (shoulder) is a "full-go" for training camp and looked good at practice, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

Irving won't require a ramp-up period to begin camp, per Bowles, which is highly encouraging after offseason shoulder surgery limited the 2024 fourth-round pick during spring activities. After injuries forced Irving to miss Weeks 5-12 last season and hampered him after his return, the third-year pro is now looking to reestablish himself as the clear top option in a Tampa Bay backfield that also includes Kenneth Gainwell and Sean Tucker.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Says he'll be ready for camp

During his annual youth football camp, Irving (shoulder) told Mark Skol, Jr. of FOX13News on Sunday that he will be good to go for training camp.

Irving is bouncing back from offseason shoulder surgery, but it looks like the running back will be ready to go once training camp begins, with the Buccaneers potentially easing him back into the mix. Once Irving is deemed full-go, he'll have a chance to reestablish his standing as the top option in a Tampa Bay backfield that also includes Kenneth Gainwell and Sean Tucker.
