Skattebo left Friday's practice early and went inside with the training staff, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

The rookie reportedly made a good impression during the first week of camp, especially with his pass catching, but he's been a limited participant during the second week while seemingly faced with a minor injury, per Evan Barnes of Newsday. It's unclear if Skattebo's early exit Friday is related to the issue that limited his practice participation the previous few days. Early reports out of camp suggest he's mostly worked with backups, while Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary have gotten most of the first-team reps.

VanSumeren (ankle) did not practice Friday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The 25-year-old linebacker has appeared in 20 regular-season games for the Eagles over the last two seasons, recording 16 tackles (seven solo) while primarily focusing on special teams.

Following the recent release of Zack Moss, Perine and Tahj Brooks are in line to serve as the top complementary options behind top back Chase Brown, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox19.com reports.

Per Goldsmith, Brown -- who handled 229 carries in 16 regular-season games in 2024 -- remains on track to handle the majority of the team's RB snaps this year, while Perine figures to factor in on passing downs. For now, Goldsmith indicates that Brooks profiles as the No. 3 option in Cincinnati's backfield, but the rookie sixth-rounder has made some notable plays in training camp and it's plausible that he will push Perine for slotting behind Brown as the summer rolls along.

Allen (knee) returned to practice Friday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

Allen missed the previous three days due to knee soreness. The second-year back appears to have a big leg up on the competition for the Jets' No. 2 running back gig and could even take more of a share of the work from Breece Hall under new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, who comes from a Lions offense where both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs are prominently featured. Allen has been mentioned as the possible Montgomery side of that duo with the Jets.

Reynolds rushed 10 times for 38 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for 10 yards during the Lions' 34-7 preseason loss to the Chargers in Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game.

The veteran back got his preseason off to a strong start by leading the way for the Lions in rushing yards while also recording a three-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Reynolds continues to profile as an ideal No. 3/No. 4 back that sees very modest opportunity whenever both Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery are healthy, but that is well-versed in the offense and can contribute as both runner and receiver.

Hampton rushed twice for nine yards and wasn't targeted during the Chargers' 34-7 preseason win over the Lions in Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game.

Hampton saw his two touches on Los Angeles' opening drive, which was capped by a five-yard touchdown pass from Trey Lance to Will Dissly. Hampton actually saw three carries overall during the possession, but what would have been his first official NFL rush attempt was wiped off the books by a defensive offsides penalty. The rookie first-round pick has been drawing rave reviews since he first stepped on the practice field this offseason, and he's likely to continue getting his fair share of opportunities throughout the Chargers' exhibition slate as he prepares for a presumptive lead-back role right at the onset of his pro career.

Brooks has clearer path to backfield work behind starter Chase Brown and Samaje Perine in the wake of Cincinnati releasing Zack Moss (neck) on Wednesday, Kelly Singh of SI.com reports.

Brooks, a rookie sixth-round pick, has reportedly put together a strong start to training camp and impressed in the receiving game, per WLWT's Jaron May. With a capable veteran such as Moss around as a No. 3 option, Brooks' path to touches nonetheless looked murky, as Brown figures to dominate opportunities while Perine is a proven change-of-pace contributor. Will Moss now a free agent, however, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 reports that Brooks has become the clear No. 3 running back. If the rookie can continue to compile momentum throughout training camp, it's conceivable he could challenge Perine for the backup role.

The 49ers signed Abdullah to a one-year contract Thursday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Abdullah had a tryout with the Niners on Wednesday and things evidently went well for the veteran running back. He turned 32 years old last month and appeared in 16 regular-season games for the Raiders last season, logging a 66-311-2 rushing line in addition to a 40-261-3 receiving tally on 47 targets. Abdullah will look to win a job behind Christian McCaffrey, Isaac Guerendo and rookie Jordan James this summer.

The Bucs waived Williams (undisclosed) on Thursday.

The Bucs swapped out Williams for Owen Wright in the backfield. Williams, who was waived with an injury designation, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports, appeared in one regular-season game for Tampa Bay last season, returning a pair of kickoffs for 54 yards. He didn't see any snaps on offense.

Allen (knee) remained sidelined during practice Thursday, Susanna Weir and Eric Allen of the Jets' official site report.

Allen now has missed two straight practice with knee soreness. However, prior to that, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic relayed that the 2024 fourth-rounder had been having a strong training camp, noting that Allen -- who officially is listed at 6-foot-1, 235 pounds -- "looks bigger, faster and stronger" than he did as a rookie, when he logged 92 carries in 17 regular-season games while working behind lead back Breece Hall (209 carries).
