  • Gary Brightwell: Cut from practice squad again

The Browns cut Brightwell from the practice squad Tuesday.

Brightwell has bounced on and off Cleveland's practice squad with regularity this season. He's also suited up for two games with the team, contributing exclusively on special-teams in both contests. Brightwell may realistically be a candidate to resurface on the practice squad again in the future.

  • Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Concussion confirmed

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday that Tracy has entered the concussion protocol following Monday's 26-18 loss to the Steelers, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Tracy exited the contest with just over four minutes left in the fourth quarter after he appeared to slam his head on the turf. The rookie didn't return for the Giants' final possession, and Daboll has confirmed that Tracy sustained a concussion on the play. After the Monday night game, the Giants will be facing a quick turnaround ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Commanders, so Tracy could face an uphill battle to clear the five-step concussion protocol. He appeared to have solidified himself as the Giants' lead back after gaining 145 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries to go with two catches for five yards in the loss to Pittsburgh. If Tracy is unable to play against Washington however, Devin Singletary would presumably step back in as the team's starter.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Scarcely involved in Week 8 win

McNichols rushed once for minus-one yards in Sunday's 18-15 win over the Bears.

McNichols played just seven percent of offensive snaps versus Chicago, his lowest total since Week 2. Brian Thomas (58 percent of snaps) and Austin Ekeler (47 percent of snaps) remain the clear top options in the Commanders' backfield, but if either misses time, McNichols will be first in line for added opportunities. From Week 4 to Week 7, McNichols rushed for at least 40 yards in three of four contests.

  • 49ers' Christian McCaffrey: Set for simulated practice this week

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that McCaffrey (Achilles) will remain in the Bay Area during the 49ers' Week 9 bye to take part in "simulated practice stuff," Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. "It depends how this week goes," Shanahan said, when asked if McCaffrey will be available to make his season debut Week 10 at Tampa Bay. "He's had no setbacks, so it looks like we're on track, but he's going to hit it hard this week while we're gone...as long as it all goes good, hopefully we'll get him back in practice next week."

McCaffrey has been sidelined all season after tweaking his calf Aug. 6 and then battling Achilles tendinitis in both of his legs, with the latter injury being the greater concern at this time. The 28-year-old seems to have made strong progress over the past few weeks, and he'll take another step forward when he gets in some on-field work during the 49ers' bye week. Since his activity during the upcoming week won't count as official practice time, the 49ers will wait until next Monday to possibly (or likely) designate him for return from injured reserve, which will open up a 21-day evaluation window. The 49ers will then release their first Week 10 injury report next Wednesday, when it will be known whether McCaffrey is practicing on a limited basis or without restrictions. Assuming McCaffrey is able to ramp up over the next two weeks with no setbacks, he should be ready to suit up against the Buccaneers, though the 49ers may not be keen on giving him a full workload in what would be his first game since Super Bowl LVIII last February.

  • Zamir White RB | LV

Raiders' Zamir White: Logs two offensive snaps in loss

White lost one yard on two carries in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Chiefs.

White's second rush of the contest went for a loss of three yards early in the second quarter, and he didn't see the field again on offense for the remainder of the game. It's evident that Alexander Mattison has taken over the lead role in the Raiders backfield, though he also struggled to get much going on the ground with 14 carries for 15 yards Sunday. However, Mattison did add five catches on as many targets for 29 yards, and he offers more value as a receiver. A game script that involved Las Vegas trailing for the entirety of the second half meant more snaps for Ameer Abdullah than White as well, which could play out similarly on the road against the Bengals in Week 9.

  • Jaylen Warren RB | PIT

Steelers' Jaylen Warren: Produces 63 yards off 11 touches

Warren rushed nine times for 46 yards and caught two of three targets for 17 yards in Monday's 26-18 win over the Giants.

Warren continues to be one of the more effective backups in the league with another solid showing off of double-digit touches. The 25-year-old's production has taken off in recent weeks after quarterback Russell Wilson took over the offense Week 7. Najee Harris is still the bell cow of this offense, but Warren has shown that he can be effective in a limited role for those in deeper fantasy formats.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Minimal role again Monday

Singletary rushed twice for 11 yards and secured two of three targets for 12 yards in the Giants' 26-18 loss to the Steelers on Monday night.

As his scant workload indicates, Singletary took a clear back seat to rookie Tyrone Tracy (head), who excelled with 145 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries despite exiting the game twice with injuries. Singletary saw only five carries in his Week 7 return from a groin injury after Tracy impressed during the former's two-game absence, and unless the head injury that forced Tracy's second and final exit from the game Monday lingers into Week 9, the minimal role for the veteran back should continue against the Commanders in Sunday's divisional battle.

  • Najee Harris RB | LAC

Steelers' Najee Harris: Stays hot on MNF

Harris carried the ball 19 times for 114 yards while catching three of four targets for 17 yards in Monday's 26-18 win over the Giants.

Harris shined in the national spotlight for the second consecutive week after churning out another 100-plus yard rushing performance against a New York squad. The addition of quarterback Russell Wilson has helped add the threat of the deep ball to Pittsburgh's offense, lightening opposing defensive boxes for the 6-foot-1, 242-pound Harris. The bruising back took full advantage of that against the Giants and may continue to do so in the second half of the fantasy season. For now, the Steelers enter a bye week, so fantasy managers will have to find a substitute for Harris in Week 9, before reactivating the back for a Week 10 matchup against Washington.

  • Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Exits to locker room

Tracy exited Monday's matchup with the Steelers late in the fourth quarter after suffering an apparent head injury, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Tracy likely went to the medical tent to be checked for a concussion after hitting his helmet on the field. He subsequently left for the locker room. The injury comes on a big night in which he assumed RB1 duties for the Giants ahead of Devin Singletary. Tracy accumulated 145 rushing yards and one touchdown on 20 carries before exiting. He also injured his shoulder at the end of the first half but ultimately returned to start the third quarter.

  • Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Returns Monday

Tracy (shoulder) returned to start the second half in Monday's matchup with the Steelers, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Tracy was shaken up towards the end of the first half and subsequently drew a questionable designation at halftime. However, he has gotten the green light to start the third quarter. The running back had seemingly take RB1 duties from Devin Singletary in the first half, recording nine carries to Singletary's one.
