  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Texans' Joe Mixon: Not practicing Wednesday

Mixon (ankle) isn't practicing Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Mixon, who has missed the Texans' last two games, thus has two more chances to practice ahead of this weekend's contest against the Bills. Meanwhile, fellow running back Dameon Pierce (hamstring) was spotted on the field during the media-access portion of Wednesday's practice but ultimately went down as a non-participant on the official injury report, per Wilson. Cam Akers will likely lead the Texans' ground attack Week 5 if neither Mixon nor Pierce is cleared to play.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Misses practice with groin injury

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that Singletary will not practice Wednesday due to a groin injury, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

The groin injury is a new concern for Singletary, though Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News relays that the running back ran on Monday, and the issue isn't considered a long-term concern. Still, Singletary now has just two more chances to get back on the practice field ahead of Sunday's road matchup in Seattle. Tyrone Tracy and Eric Gray would likely lead the New York backfield if Singletary sits out this weekend.

  • Patriots' Antonio Gibson: Could start Sunday

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday that having Gibson start over Rhamondre Stevenson in Sunday's game against the Dolphins is "under consideration" due to Stevenson's fumbling issues, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Stevenson has started each of the Patriots' first four games, carrying 65 times for 267 yards and two touchdowns but coughing up the ball four times. Given Stevenson's recent ball-security issues, Gibson -- who has logged 29 carries for 155 yards thus far -- is a candidate to see added snaps, possibly in a starting role. In such a scenario, Gibson represents a possible lineup option for those in need of help at running back Week 5.

  • Browns' Nyheim Hines: Returning to practice

The Browns designated Hines (knee) for a return to practice Wednesday.

Hines is finally ready to practice again after completing his recovery from an ACL tear, which he suffered in a jet ski accident in the summer of 2023. Considering the extensive time that he's missed, Hines will likely need close to the full 21-day practice evaluation window before the Browns bring him back from the non-football injury list. Hines shouldn't be expected to play this Sunday against the Commanders.

  • Nick Chubb RB | HOU

Browns' Nick Chubb: Cleared for practice

The Browns designated Chubb (knee) to return to practice Wednesday.

The move opens up a 21-day practice window in which the Browns can evaluate Chubb in practice before having to activate him from the reserve/PUP list. Per Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal, the Browns have no definitive target for Chubb's return to game action, but the running back's looming return to practice represents a major milestone in his recovery from the serious knee injury he sustained in Week 2 last season.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Not practicing Wednesday

Colts head coach Shane Steichen said that Taylor (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Taylor thus has two more chances to return to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars, but for now, his Week 5 status is cloudy. If he's unavailable this weekend, Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson are next up for snaps out of the backfield, with Evan Hull and Trent Pennix being candidates to be elevated from the practice squad.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Could lose starting gig

Head coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday that having Antonio Gibson start over Stevenson this Sunday against the Dolphins is "under consideration" due to Stevenson's fumbling issues, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.

Through the Patriots' first four games this season, Stevenson has logged 65 carries to Gibson's 29, but Stevenson has fumbled four times. With that in mind, it's possible that Stevenson's recent ball-security issues could affect his workload to a degree in Week 5. Even in such a scenario, Stevenson wouldn't be expected to be phased out of the game plan entirely versus Miami.

  • Bijan Robinson RB | ATL

Falcons' Bijan Robinson: Feels ready for Thursday night

Robinson (hamstring) said Wednesday he's "ready to go for [Thursday]," when the Falcons will take on the Buccaneers in Atlanta, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Robinson downplayed his presence on Atlanta's injury report, saying he's dealing with "little nicks and bruises." He's been listed as limited in back-to-back estimated practice sessions after having also dealt with a shoulder injury before being cleared for the Falcons' win over the Saints in Week 4. Atlanta will release its final Week 4 practice report later Wednesday, when it will be known whether Robinson has upgraded to full participation. While Robinson doesn't look to be in danger of sitting out Thursday, the fact that he's banged up could compel the Falcons to hand backup Tyler Allgeier an increased role on a short week.

  • Steelers' Aaron Shampklin: Gets bumped up

Shampklin was promoted to the 53-man roster from the Steelers' practice squad Wednesday.

Shampklin will receive a chance with the active roster due to Jaylen Warren (knee) and Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) tending to injuries that currently have them listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. The Harvard product was elevated for Week 4 and saw 12 snaps on offense against the Colts, which included one five-yard carry. If Warren and Patterson miss Week 5, Shampklin will be the Steelers' No. 2 man in the backfield behind Najee Harris.

  • Ray Davis RB | BUF

Bills' Ray Davis: Handles seven carries in Week 4

Davis rushed seven times for 11 yards in Sunday's 35-10 loss to the Ravens.

Davis played just 10 of the Bills' 59 offensive snaps in the contest, behind both James Cook (33) and Ty Johnson (11). In addition, Sunday's game marked the first time in which Davis didn't record a reception. Though the rookie is the clear handcuff to James Cook, the Kentucky product holds little standalone value for fantasy. Davis will look to get more involved in Week 5 when the Bills visit the Texans.
