  • Quintin Morris TE | JAC

Bills' Quintin Morris: Bumped up from practice squad

Morris was elevated to the Bills' active roster Saturday.

Morris, who was undrafted out of Bowling Green, will likely make his NFL debut Sunday against the Jaguars. With Dawson Knox (hand) still unable to play, Tommy Sweeney is the only sure thing in front of Morris on the tight end depth chart.

  • David Wells TE | TB

Cardinals' David Wells: Bumped up from practice squad

The Cardinals signed Wells to the active roster Saturday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.

Wells joined the Cardinals' practice squad Oct. 20. With Demetrius Harris now on the reserve/COVID-19 list, he'll be called upon to add some depth at tight end. Assuming Wells suits up and plays Sunday against the 49ers, it will be his NFL debut.

  • J.P. Holtz TE | NO

Bears' J.P. Holtz: Won't play in primetime

Holtz (concussion) won't play Monday against the Steelers.

Holtz was never able to practice this week after entering the concussion protocol during Sunday's game. With the Bears entering a bye for Week 10, Holtz will try to recover and clear protocols for Week 11 against Baltimore.

  • Browns' Miller Forristall: Elevated to active roster

Forristall was elevated from the practice squad Saturday.

With tight end Harrison Bryant questionable with a thigh injury, the Browns have called up Forristall to serve as a third-string tight end behind Austin Hooper and David Njoku. The undrafted free agent out of Alabama may see some action since the Browns utilize the tight end position quite a bit.

  • Miller Forristall: Ready for call

Forristall could be added from Cleveland's practice squad to the active roster if Harrison Bryant (thigh) is unable to play Sunday, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Of the five players listed as questionable entering Week 9's matchup against the Bengals, the Browns expect all but Bryant to play. More will be learned come game time, but if Bryant can't go, the team could have Forristall, an undrafted free agent out of Alabama, serve as the third tight end in an offense that uses the position heavily. Even as a third-string tight end, Bryant has played nearly 40 percent of the offensive snaps this season.

  • Jonnu Smith TE | PIT

Patriots' Jonnu Smith: Listed as questionable

Smith (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers after practicing in a limited fashion this past week.

The tight end was also limited in practice last week before suiting up for the Patriots' Week 8 win over the Chargers, en route playing 49 of the Patriots' 77 snaps on offense and catching both of his targets for 13 yards. We'd expect him to suit up this weekend as well, though in the context of working in a timeshare with Hunter Henry, Smith continues to profile as a hit-or-miss fantasy option.

  • Taysom Hill QB | NO

Saints' Taysom Hill: Backing up Siemian in Week 9

Hill practiced fully Friday and has cleared the concussion protocol, but head coach Sean Payton said that he'll be available in a backup capacity Sunday against the Falcons after Trevor Siemian was named as the team's starting quarterback for Week 9.

Though Hill missed the Saints' last two games due to the head injury, he returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant and looked like he might be an option to start Week 9 after top quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the Week 8 win over the Buccaneers. However, Siemian was ultimately awarded the starting nod after he performed capably as a game manager in relief of Winston last week, but that doesn't mean he'll have a long leash atop the depth chart. In fact, Payton intimated that the timing of Hill's exit from the concussion protocol played a factor in the decision to go with Siemian, and the coach left the door open for the quarterback situation to be revisited Week 10, per Jeff Nowak of The Big 870 New Orleans. Payton added that Hill and rookie fourth-round pick Ian Book will both be available as reserve options behind Siemian, and Hill should have at least a small role in Sunday's game plan in goal-line or short-yardage scenarios, just like he did when he backed up Winston in the Saints' first five games.

  • J.P. Holtz TE | NO

Bears' J.P. Holtz: Misses practice Friday

Holtz (concussion) did not practice Friday.

Holtz entered concussion protocol on Sunday and has yet to be cleared. He has an extra day to prepare since the Bears don't play until Monday, but time is running out. If Holtz is unable to get cleared in time, it's likely Jesper Horsted would pick up some extra snaps.

  • 49ers' George Kittle: In line for Week 9 return

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Kittle (calf) will return from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The 49ers may wait until Saturday before officially adding Kittle back to the 53-man roster, but the 28-year-old tight end is on track to return to the lineup following a three-game, four-week absence due to a calf injury. Kittle rejoined the 49ers for practice Wednesday and apparently checked out well in his workouts in each of the past three days, so he looks like he'll be ready to immediately reclaim duties as the team's top tight end. Through his first four outings before landing on IR, Kittle recorded 19 receptions for 227 yards and no touchdowns on 28 targets.

  • Brevin Jordan TE | HOU

Texans' Brevin Jordan: Cleared while Brown's out

Jordan (ankle) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Jordan was limited in practice Thursday, but he was cleared following a full practice Friday. Meanwhile, fellow tight end Pharaoh Brown has been ruled out for a second consecutive week due to a thigh injury. Jordan took advantage of Brown's absence last week to score a touchdown in his NFL debut, and the rookie fifth-round pick will have the opportunity to do the same against Miami while splitting work with Jordan Akins.
