The Lions waived Sokol on Saturday, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.

Sokol competed for a run-blocking role with Detroit, but he lost to undrafted rookie Hunter Bryant (leg), who likely has more pass-catching upside. If Sokol clears waivers, he's likely a practice squad candidate with the Lions carrying just three tight ends.

Sweeney (foot) was placed on the reserve PUP list on Saturday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

The second-year tight end will miss several games and won't be able to start practicing with his teammates until the start of Week 7 at the earliest. Dawson Knox, Tyler Kroft and blocking specialist Lee Smith with make up the tight end corps for Week 1 and beyond.

The Bears waived Horsted on Saturday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Horsted came in handy last season when the Bears' tight-end depth took a hit, as he played in six games and caught eight of 10 targets for 87 yards and a touchdown. The Bears brought in reinforcements at tight end this offseason, though, signing Jimmy Graham and drafting Cole Kmet in the second round, so Horsted will look for a new opportunity elsewhere.

Parkinson (foot) was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list Saturday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Parkinson -- a fourth-round pick in April -- underwent surgery in June to repair a broken foot, and the rookie has yet to practice with the team. He won't be able to rejoin the team for six weeks as he rehabs the injury, and once he gets healthy, he may need to beat out Luke Willson for the No. 4 tight-end role.

Sullivan was waived by the Seahawks on Saturday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

The Seahawks selected Sullivan in the seventh round of April's draft with hopes that the 6-foot-5, 245-pound wide receiver could be converted to tight end. However, the LSU product couldn't effectively make the switch, so the Seahawks opted to keep four established tight ends. If Sullivan clears waivers, expect the Seahawks to continue to develop him on the practice squad.

The Giants released Tomlinson on Saturday, Michael Eisen of the team's official site reports.

Tomlinson played eight games with three different teams last season, but he couldn't beat out Levine Toilolo or Kaden Smith for a reserve role behind Evan Engram. If one of those three endures an injury, though, Tomlinson could rejoin the team.

The Eagles waived Togiai on Saturday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.

The undrafted free agent apparently had a solid training camp, but the team opted to keep just Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert as its tight ends to start the season. If Togiai finds another landing spot, it'll likely be in a depth role, where he can prove his run-blocking upside.

The Jets waived Cager (knee) on Saturday, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

It's likely Cager is still carrying an injury tag since he had an MRI last week, so if he clears waivers he could land on the Jets' injured reserve. Regardless, the Jets' willingness to let Cager go signals that their receiver corps may not be as injured as it appears.

New York waived Dickerson on Saturday, Matt Lombardo of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Dickerson was held without a catch across four appearances in 2019, but he reportedly looked good as a receiver in training camp. He played in eight combined games with the Giants over the last two seasons and also spent time on the practice squad.

The Chiefs waived Helm on Saturday, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.

Helm was claimed by Kansas City mid-August. The team remains in need of quality tight end depth, so if he goes unclaimed on waivers Helm could find himself back on the Chiefs' practice squad.
