Austin Traylor TE | DET
Broncos' Austin Traylor: Plays in preseason game
Traylor (shoulder) failed to record a catch in Denver's loss to Chicago on Saturday.
Traylor returned to the field after dealing with a shoulder injury for about a week. He brings a nice mix of experience and youth in his bid for a roster spot, but the team's final two preseason affairs could prove particularly important for the Wisconsin product's chances of making the team.

Troy Fumagalli TE | MIN
Broncos' Troy Fumagalli: Out for Friday's preseason contest
Fumagalli (sports hernia) won't play in Friday's preseason contest against the Redskins, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
The rookie out of Wisconsin has been battling the sports hernia ailment for a couple of months now, and it seems like it's going to be a gradual process towards full health. Given the lingering nature of such an injury, it wouldn't be surprising if Fumagalli is sidelined for part of the regular season. In the meantime, Fumagalli's absence provides Jake Butt with another chance to separate himself from the rookie on the depth chart.
-
Dwayne Allen TE | NE
Patriots' Dwayne Allen: Back at practice
Allen (undisclosed) has resumed practicing this week, Kevin Duffy of the Boston Herald reports.
There was some thought that Allen's $5 million cap hit might cost him his roster spot, but it looks like he'll stick around, given that his blocking is valued by the Patriots. As long as starting tight end Rob Gronkowski is healthy, Allen's fantasy value is minimal. In any case, in the event of a Gronkowski injury, it wouldn't be surprising if it was Jacob Hollister that stepped into a greater pass-catching role rather than Allen.
-
Matt Weiser TE | TB
Buccaneers' Matt Weiser: Inks deal with Bucs
Weiser signed with Tampa Bay on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Weiser hasn't played an NFL snap since entering the league in 2016. His pass-catching game can't touch Cameron Brate or O.J. Howard, so don't expect Weiser to make it past final cuts if his run-blocking abilities aren't exceptional.

MarQueis Gray TE | MIA
Dolphins' MarQueis Gray: Remains in concussion protocol
Gray (concussion) is likely in the third stage of protocol but still needs to be cleared by an independent examiner, Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Gray appears to be nearing a return, but still has some work to do. He currently projects to back up Mike Gesicki at tight end this season.

George Kittle TE | SF
49ers' George Kittle: Doing individual work
Kittle (shoulder) is doing individual conditioning work at Tuesday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
The Niners were quick to rule Kittle out for the rest of the exhibition slate after he suffered a separated right shoulder in the first game of the preseason. The injury is expected to heal with rest before Week 1, but it could have a slight impact on the division of playing time between Kittle and Garrett Celek. There won't be any serious cause for concern unless Kittle is still limited to individual drills when the 49ers begin preparation for the regular-season opener. Running back Matt Breida (shoulder) suffered a similar injury in the same game and seems to be on the same recovery path.

Clayton Wilson TE | SEA
Seahawks' Clayton Wilson: Activated from PUP list
Wilson was promoted to the active roster Monday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Wilson's stint on the Physically Unable to Perform list lasted just short of a month. Buried on the depth chart, Wilson will need to start turning some heads quickly if he hopes to latch on with Seattle for the regular-season campaign.
-
Chris Manhertz TE | NYG
Panthers' Chris Manhertz: Approaching end of recovery
Manhertz (foot) is closing in on full health, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Manhertz injured his foot during minicamp in June and started training camp on the PUP list. Once he's activated, however, Manhertz will round out the tight end corps with Greg Olsen and Ian Thomas. The 26-year-old shouldn't be considered in the fantasy realm, though, as he made just three catches for 27 yards in the last two seasons.
-
Austin Hooper TE | ATL
Falcons' Austin Hooper: Developing into more complete player
Head coach Dan Quinn said Saturday that Hooper is improving as a run blocker, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
If Hooper can adequately contribute in opening up running lanes for Atlanta's talented stable of backs, it will likely increase the third-year tight end's weekly snap count. His pass-catching abilities and athleticism are a proven commodity, but improvement as a blocker will only up his fantasy value by way of enhanced playing time. Hooper has potential low-end TE1 value within the high-powered Falcons offense, as he'll frequently be facing single coverage given all the other weapons that opponents have to account for. The concern would be that with such an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions, Hooper might not get the requisite number of targets to be a starting-level fantasy asset in standard leagues.

Ryan O'Malley TE | NYG
Giants' Ryan O'Malley: Back in action Sunday
O'Malley (undisclosed) participated in Sunday's practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic New York reports.
O'Malley was sidelined for Friday's preseason game against the Lions, but it looks like he is over whatever was bothering him. However, missing Friday's game still did not do any favors to O'Malley's chances of making the Giants' final roster.
