  • Taysom Hill QB | NO

Saints' Taysom Hill: Listed as QB heading into Week 1

The Saints list Hill (oblique) as their No. 3 quarterback -- and not as a tight end -- on their unofficial depth chart ahead of Sunday's season opener versus the Titans.

Hill had been listed as a tight end during the 2022 season and throughout the summer, but the Saints flipped his position designation to quarterback Monday in a move that head coach Dennis Allen characterized as "more of a clerical thing," per John Sigler of USA Today. The positional change probably won't dramatically affect how the Saints choose to use Hill; Allen pointed out Monday that despite being listed as a tight end last season, the 33-year-old still saw more than half of his snaps as a quarterback and ended up taking 96 carries and attempting 19 passes while drawing only 13 targets as a receiver. However, the change could have more of an impact on Hill's fantasy outlook depending on how site providers choose to designate him. If still listed as a tight end, he would have some utility in deeper leagues with multiple flex spots, given the uncommon rushing production he offers relative to other tight ends. Moreover, with top back Alvin Kamara serving a three-game suspension to begin the season, Hill could end up factoring even more prominently than usual in the Saints' ground attack in Weeks 1 through 3.

  • Tommy Hudson TE | NO

Tommy Hudson: Joins Saints' practice squad

New Orleans signed Hudson to its practice squad Monday.

With four tight ends already on the active roster, it's unlikely Hudson is elevated for game action any time soon. He last saw the field during the regular season back in 2021.

  • Pharaoh Brown TE | ARI

    Patriots' Pharaoh Brown: Joins Patriots

New England signed Brown to its 53-man roster Monday.

Brown joins Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki on the Patriots' tight end depth chart ahead of Week 1 versus Philadelphia. As the latter is recovering from an AC joint injury, Brown could see an increased workload in Week 1.

  • Mark Andrews TE | BAL

Ravens' Mark Andrews: Should return Wednesday

Andrews (undisclosed) is scheduled to return to practice Wednesday, with coach John Harbaugh saying Monday that he's still in "don't push the panic button" mode, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

A return to practice would put Andrews right on track for the season opener Sunday against Houston, while another absence Wednesday would warrant skepticism about Harbaugh's persistent optimism. The coach has repeatedly downplayed the injury and said he expects Andrews back in practice this week, though the tight end has been sidelined for nearly two weeks after another missed practice Monday. All eyes will be on Andrews' status Wednesday when the Ravens release their first official injury report of the 2023 season.

  • 49ers' George Kittle: Limited to side work

Kittle (undisclosed) is working off to the side during Monday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Kittle had an adductor strain in mid-August and was determined to need more rest after making a brief appearance in the 49ers' final preseason game. Coach Kyle Shanahan said last week that he expected the tight end to resume practicing this week, with a return to individual work Monday marking a step in the right direction. The team won't post an official injury report until Wednesday, four days before the 49ers start their season in Pittsburgh against a star-studded Steelers defense.

  • Mark Andrews TE | BAL

Ravens' Mark Andrews: Not practicing yet

Andrews (undisclosed) didn't practice Monday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Coach John Harbaugh downplayed Andrews' unspecified injury last week and said he was sure the tight end would be ready for Baltimore's season opener against Houston. While that may still be the case, another missed practice is cause for concern at least temporarily. If Andrews doesn't recover as quickly as the Ravens expected, they've got a capable replacement in second-year pro Isaiah Likely.

  • Darrell Daniels: Remains in Detroit

Daniels signed with the Lions' practice squad Friday.

The veteran tight end was released by Detroit on Tuesday but has since agreed to join the team's practice squad. Daniels has played six years in the NFL, with his most recent game action coming in 2021. He's recorded 133 receiving yards on 13 catches with one touchdown throughout his career.

  • Gerrit Prince: Headed to KC

Prince joined Kansas City's practice squad Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Prince spent last year with Jacksonville's practice squad before getting waived by the team Tuesday. The 26-year-old went undrafted out of UAB in 2022, making second-team All-Conference USA in his final year of college.

  • Nick Bowers TE | MIA

Nick Bowers: Added to Miami's practice squad

Bowers signed with the Dolphins' practice squad Thursday.

Bowers was waived by the Bengals on Tuesday, but it didn't take long for him to find another opportunity elsewhere. The tight end last appeared in an NFL game in 2021, failing to record a reception over five contests with the Raiders.

  • Lucas Krull TE | DEN

Lucas Krull: Joins Denver's practice squad

Krull signed with Denver's practice squad Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.

Krull will head to Denver after getting waived as part of New Orleans' final roster cuts. The 2022 undrafted free agent appeared in just one game during his rookie season and did not receive a target.
