  • Devin Duvernay WR | ARI

Ravens' Devin Duvernay: Not in line to play Thursday

Duvernay is unlikely to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Titans, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Duvernay missed some time in the middle of training camp due to a thigh bruise, the result of a collision with safety Chuck Clark. The third-year wide receiver returned to the practice field this past Saturday, but the Ravens won't take any chances with their likely No. 2 option at the position this season. With all of Duvernay, Rashod Bateman and James Proche (undisclosed) not in uniform ahead of Thursday's kickoff, Tylan Wallace, Jaylon Moore and Binjimen Victor, among others, will be the wideouts available to Baltimore.

  • Seahawks' Dee Eskridge: Doubtful to play against Steelers

Eskridge (hamstring) isn't anticipated to suit up for Saturday's preseason opener against the Steelers, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Eskridge has been working his way back from a hamstring injury he suffered in June, so this news shouldn't be of great surprise given the 25-year-old has been limited all throughout camp. In 10 games played as a rookie, Eskridge accounted for 64 yards and one touchdown on 10 catches. The second-year receiver is slated to compete for Seattle's No. 4 receiver spot with Marquise Goodwin (hamstring) and Bo Melton.

  • Seahawks' Marquise Goodwin: Likely out for preseason opener

Goodwin (hamstring) isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

The veteran receiver has impressed Seattle's coaching staff with his efforts in training camp thus far, per Tim Weaver of USA Today. However, Goodwin is on track to watch Saturday's game against Pittsburgh from the sidelines after he picked up a hamstring injury in practice. The speedster signed with the Seahawks in May and figures to compete for snaps with Freddie Swain (back), Dee Eskridge (hamstring) and Bo Melton, behind usual starters DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

  • Treylon Burks WR | WAS

Titans' Treylon Burks: Playing in exhibition opener

Burks will suit up for Thursday's preseason game in Baltimore, Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reports.

This comes as little surprise after the Titans made him a first-round selection in this year's draft. Burks dealt with asthma and conditioning during the offseason program and even sat out mandatory minicamp, but he passed conditioning tests at the start of training camp and since then has looked more crisp on the field than he did in the spring. Still, he was listed as a second-team wide receiver on the team's first unofficial depth chart behind Robert Woods (knee) and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, so how Burks fares Thursday could help his case for first-team status.

  • Kadarius Toney WR | CLE

Giants' Kadarius Toney: Not slated to play Thursday

Toney (hamstring) is not in line to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

The report notes that Toney appeared to tweak his leg or knee in Tuesday's practice, and the wideout thus is on track to miss the Giants' exhibition opener. His next chance to see game action will arrive Sunday, Aug. 21 against the Bengals.

  • Steelers' Diontae Johnson: Managing hip issue

Johnson (hip) was present for Thursday's practice, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

That said, Pryor notes that Johnson was sporting shoulder pads but no leg pads Thursday, which suggests that he's still working his way back from a hip flexor. In that context, Johnson appears unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks.

  • Chase Claypool WR | BUF

Steelers' Chase Claypool: Misses practice Thursday

Claypool (shoulder) didn't practice Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Claypool, who has been managing a shoulder issue, was able to practice earlier in the week, so it's possible that his Thursday absence was maintenance-related. Though the Steelers plan to play some of their starters in Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks, it's possible that Claypool could sit out the contest as a precaution.

  • Patriots' Ty Montgomery: Could claim change-of-pace role

Montgomery is a candidate for added opportunities in the Patriots offense after running back James White announced his retirement from the NFL, NESN's Zack Cox and ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.

At this stage, Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson currently top the running back depth chart and are in line to handle the bulk of the team's early down work this season. With White no longer in the mix, though, there will be change-of-pace/pass-catching snaps and touches available, and both Cox and Reiss believe the versatile Montgomery has a chance to claim a share of them. Rookie fourth-rounder Pierre Strong is another player who could factor in on that front, with 2022 sixth-rounder Kevin Harris and returnee J.J. Taylor also competing for depth roles.

  • Bears' Velus Jones: Unlikely to play Saturday

Jones (undisclosed) isn't expected to take the field for Saturday's preseason opener against the Chiefs, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.

Jones has missed practice time due to an undisclosed injury and isn't expected to participate in Saturday's preseason game against Kansas City. The third-round draft choice is trying to secure a role as one of the top-three receivers on the team.

  • Darnell Mooney WR | NYG

Bears' Darnell Mooney: Expected to play Saturday

Mooney is expected to play along with the Bears' starters in Saturday's preseason opener against the Chiefs, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.

Although not listed by name in the report, coach Matt Eberflus informed reporters that Chicago's starters will play 15 to 20 snaps, though some will play just 10 to 15, in Saturday's game against Kansas City. Mooney is a near lock to start the season as the team's top receiver after surpassing 1,000 yards last year.
