Kadarius Toney WR | CLE
Giants' Kadarius Toney: Four grabs in return
Toney (oblique) secured four of nine targets for 28 yards and recovered a fumble in the Giants' 34-10 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
The rookie jumped back into action for the first time since Week 11 and was busy, pacing the team in receiving yards and targets while sharing the lead in receptions. However, all of those were rather empty accomplishments for Toney, considering the Giants mustered all of 108 passing yards on the afternoon. Toney has indisputable upside in his own right, but the prospect of playing out the final two regular-season games with Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm as his quarterbacks certainly dampens his short-term outlook.
-
Keenan Allen WR | IND
Chargers' Keenan Allen: Blanketed by Texans
Allen recorded four receptions on six targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 41-29 loss to the Texans.
For the second time in his last three games, Allen was held to less than 40 receiving yards. The six targets were his lowest in a game since Week 6 and snapped a seven-contest stretch during which he got at least eight looks in the passing game. Given his track record, Allen has a good chance to bounce back in Week 17 against Denver despite a relatively difficult matchup.
-
Kalif Raymond WR | CHI
Lions' Kalif Raymond: Another forgettable stat line
Raymond caught three of five targets for 12 yards while rushing once for five yards during Sunday's 20-16 loss to Atlanta.
Playing through a shoulder injury, Raymond remained the third wheel behind Amon-Ra St. Brown (11 targets) and Josh Reynolds (seven) in the passing game. Only St. Brown managed any meaningful production with backup QB Tim Boyle, who struggled to complete passes down the field. Even if Jared Goff (COVID-19) manages to return in Week 17 against Seattle, Raymond will remain an inadvisable fantasy option.
-
Justin Jefferson WR | MIN
Vikings' Justin Jefferson: Tops 100 yards
Jefferson recorded eight receptions on 12 targets for 116 yards in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Rams.
Even with Adam Thielen back in the mix, Jefferson managed to record double-digit targets for the fourth consecutive game. He recorded a number of big catches that went for gains of 34, 21, 16 and 16 yards to notch his sixth 100-yard performance of the season. The only thing missing from the effort was a touchdown, though Jefferson had found the end zone in each of the team's last three contests. Jefferson will enter the team's Week 17 matchup against Green Bay only four receptions short of the century mark.
-
Josh Reynolds WR | NYJ
Lions' Josh Reynolds: Poor chemistry with backup QB
Reynolds caught two of seven targets for 36 yards during Sunday's 20-16 loss to Atlanta.
Reynolds caught 13 of 18 targets over the past three games with Jared Goff (COVID-19) under center, but the chemistry wasn't there with backup QB Tim Boyle under center. Instead, Amon-Ra St. Brown kept rolling in an underneath slot role that has earned him 11 targets in each of the past four weeks. While Reynolds should remain Detroit's top downfield threat down the stretch, expectations for his production should be dampened if Goff is unable to return in Week 17 against Seattle.
-
Marquise Brown WR | PHI
Ravens' Marquise Brown: Another inefficient game
Brown caught five passes for 44 yards on nine targets against Cincinnati on Sunday.
As the Ravens' smallest receiver, Brown is the easiest one for a quarterback to miss, and he tends to suffer when playing with a quarterback who struggles to throw downfield. Lamar Jackson definitely has more of an inclination to throw deep than Tyler Huntley (illness) or Sunday's starter Josh Johnson, so it's not terribly surprising that Brown's efficiency fell off with that change at quarterback. It's not clear who will be taking snaps for the Ravens when they face the Rams in Week 17.
-
Braxton Berrios WR | NYG
Jets' Braxton Berrios: Five catches, kick return TD in win
Berrios caught five of six targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jaguars. He added three yards on one rushing attempt and scored a kickoff return touchdown.
Berrios led New York's depleted receiving corps in catches, targets and receiving yards. In addition to his contributions on offense, Berrios scored a 102-yard kickoff return touchdown in the second quarter. Elijah Moore (quadriceps) -- who is also on the reserve/COVID-19 list -- and Jamison Crowder (calf) both have a chance to return in Week 17 against the Buccaneers, but even one of those two sitting should be enough for Berrios to maintain a prominent role on offense to go with his usage in the return game on special teams.
-
Kendrick Bourne WR | ARI
Patriots' Kendrick Bourne: Held to two catches by Bills
Bourne caught two of four targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 33-21 loss to Buffalo.
Damien Harris scored all three of New England's touchdowns on the ground as the passing game struggled mightily. Case in point, Bourne finished second on the team in receiving yards and tied for second in catches, trailing only Jakobi Meyers, who had six catches for 59 yards. Since his two-touchdown outburst in Week 12 against the Titans, Bourne has mustered just five catches for 77 yards in three subsequent appearances. Perhaps a Week 17 visit from the Jaguars will help Bourne get back on track.
-
Jakobi Meyers WR | JAC
Patriots' Jakobi Meyers: Six catches in Week 16 loss
Meyers caught six of eight targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 33-21 loss to Buffalo.
Meyers led the Patriots in targets, catches and receiving yards as Mac Jones mustered just 145 passing yards. Jones went the entire month of December without throwing a touchdown to a wide receiver, but Meyers continues to play a prominent role in the Patriots' passing game despite having just one touchdown catch in his three seasons with the team. A Week 17 visit from the lowly Jaguars offers a nice opportunity for Meyers to make another rare visit to the end zone.
-
James Proche WR | TEN
Ravens' James Proche: Quietly breaks out
Proche caught seven passes for 76 yards on eight targets against Cincinnati on Sunday.
Proche stepped up with Devin Duvernay (ankle) unavailable and enjoyed a breakout game in the process. He otherwise had just a 14-yard reception to his credit in the NFL, though Proche was a productive high-volume receiver at SMU in college. Proche is unlikely to project well outside of the slot and can't match the big-play ability of Duvernay, but a game like this is still a promising data point for the second-year wideout as a fringe prospect. It also supports the notion he might stay involved if Duvernay misses the Ravens' Week 17 game against the Rams.
