  • David Moore WR | CAR

Panthers' David Moore: Catches two passes

Moore caught two of four targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 21-18 preseason loss to the Colts.

Moore hauled in a couple of passes in his Panthers debut, but rookie Terrace Marshall's team-high three grabs for 88 yards evidenced why he's currently leading Moore to become the team's third wideout. Given his veteran status, however, Moore would represent a reliable fourth receiver behind DJ Moore, Robby Anderson and Marshall in that scenario.

  • Jaguars' Collin Johnson: One catch Saturday

Johnson caught one of two targets for zero yards during Saturday's preseason game against the Browns.

Johnson played 48 offensive snaps to lead Jacksonville's wideouts, but he didn't have much involvement in the offense during the preseason opener. The 23-year-old is attempting to secure the No. 4 spot on the depth chart and is dealing with a revamped group of wide receivers. Josh Hammond and Tavon Austin were the only depth receivers for the Jaguars to eclipse 20 receiving yards in the contest.

  • Colts' Parris Campbell: Shows speed in preseason opener

Campbell had a 37-yard reception on his only target in Sunday's preseason win over Carolina.

Campbell played 10 snaps and showed his outstanding speed when Jacob Eason hit him in stride on a deep ball. He showed he's back to full strength after coming back from October 2020 surgery to address MCL and PCL injuries in his left knee.

  • Mike Strachan WR | WAS

Colts' Mike Strachan: Impressive preseason opener

Strachan had three receptions for 57 yards on five targets in Sunday's preseason win over Carolina.

Strachan was seen having an impressive training camp and backed it up with a strong showing Sunday. He's in the mix to win the fifth receiver role.

  • Dezmon Patmon WR | CAR

Colts' Dezmon Patmon: Five receptions in preseason opener

Patmon had five receptions on six targets for 49 yards in Sunday's preseason win over Carolina.

Patmon is battling Mike Strachan and Ashton Dulin for perhaps the final roster spot at wide receiver. Strachan was seen having a strong camp, but Patmon was impressive Sunday and showed it will be a close battle.

  • 49ers' Austin Watkins: Out 6-8 weeks with broken foot

Watkins broke his foot in Saturday's preseason opener and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, NIck Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

The injury is believed to have happened early in the game against the Chiefs but was only discovered after the game ended. Given all the players ahead of him on the depth chart, this injury will likely end Watkins' long-shot bid at securing a spot on the 49ers' 53-man roster.

  • Vyncint Smith WR | IND

Jets' Vyncint Smith: Gets some time with starters

Smith caught three of four targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 12-7 preseason win over the Giants.

Smith's first reception came on a 12-yard pass thrown by starting quarterback Zach Wilson. With Elijah Moore (quadriceps) out, Smith and Keelan Cole both ran some routes on the outside opposite Corey Davis while the starters were out there. Smith's in good position to secure a roster spot with New York and will look to strengthen his case Week 2 of preseason against the Packers.

  • Jets' Jamison Crowder: Mans usual spot in slot

Crowder caught his only target for four yards in Saturday's 12-7 preseason win over the Giants.

Crowder made the catch on the Jets' second drive, then had an eight-yard grab on the next play negated by a pass interference penalty on teammate Keelan Cole. The veteran slot receiver worked with the starters here, though Crowder likely will yield some snaps to rookie Elijah Moore (quadriceps) once the latter heals up. Crowder and the rest of the starters should see more action Week 2 of preseason against the Packers.

  • Keelan Cole WR | LV

Jets' Keelan Cole: In mix for starting spot

Cole caught his only target for a 16-yard gain in Saturday's 12-7 preseason win over the Giants.

Cole's catch came on a pass thrown by starting quarterback Zach Wilson. The Jets' receiver deployment throughout Wilson's two drives in the game suggest Cole's currently rotating with Vyncint Smith as a starter on the outside opposite Corey Davis, though rookie Elijah Moore (quadriceps) may be ahead of both Cole and Smith in the competition for that spot. The Jets' wide receiver rotation will be worth monitoring when they face the Packers in Week 2 of preseason.

  • Ben Skowronek WR | PIT

Rams' Ben Skowronek: Out with fractured forearm

Skowronek suffered a fractured forearm during Saturday's preseason loss to the Chargers and will undergo surgery Monday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

The rookie seventh-round pick doesn't yet have timeline for his return, but it's safe to consider him unavailable for the foreseeable future. Skowronek was competing for a depth role in the Rams' receiving corps.
