Howard (hand) was designated to return from the injured reserve list Wednesday.

The 2025 sixth-round pick from Ohio State fractured a bone in his hand in early August, causing him to miss the Steelers' first six games this season. He now has 21 days to be added to the team's active roster before reverting to IR. Once fully healthy, Howard is expected to compete with Mason Rudolph for the Steelers' No. 2 quarterback spot.

The Texans signed Wayne from their practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

The 25-year-old from Pittsburgh adds much-needed depth to the Texans' receiving corps, as Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) are both dealing with injuries. Wayne appeared in three games with the Texans in 2024, failing to record an offensive stat over 64 total snaps (40 on offense, 24 on special teams). Now back with the active roster, he's likely to contribute on both offense and special teams in Houston's Week 8 matchup against the 49ers.

Mariota is in line to start Monday's game against the Chiefs, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Per Jhabvala, Jayden Daniels is dealing with a low-grade hamstring strain and is not on track to play this week, positioning Mariota for his third start of the season. Mariota thus represents a Week 8 fantasy lineup option for those who roster Daniels or who are otherwise in need of quarterback help, with six teams on bye this week. In his previous two starts against the Raiders and Falcons in Weeks 3 and 4, respectively, Mariota went 1-1 while completing 31 of 48 pass attempts for 363 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while adding 60 yards and another score on eight carries.

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Irving (foot) will not suit up for Sunday's road matchup against the Saints, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Irving won't practice Wednesday or be a candidate to return Week 8, but it would at least be encouraging to see him resume handling limited reps at some point before Tampa Bay's bye in Week 9. Versus New Orleans, Rachaad White will be slated to draw another start, while Sean Tucker will likely handle No. 2 reps. Irving's next opportunity to retake the field will come Sunday, Nov. 9 versus the Patriots in Week 10.

The Dolphins signed Myarick to their practice squad Wednesday.

The 30-year-old from Temple was let go by the Dolphins in late August after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster, but he's since been brought back to the practice squad. Myarick's last in-game action came with the Giants in 2022, when he caught seven of eight targets for 65 yards and a touchdown over 16 regular-season contests. His signing adds depth to Miami's tight-end corps, with Darren Waller (pectoral) being placed on injured reserve Wednesday.

Daniels (hamstring) is expected to sit out Monday's game against the Chiefs, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Daniels suffered a low-grade right hamstring strain during Washington's loss to the Cowboys in Week 7, and while it's encouraging for the second-year quarterback to have avoided a long-term injury, he still appears set to miss at least one contest while working his way back to health. The signal-caller's expected absence sets up Marcus Mariota for his third start of the season Monday in Kansas City. Meanwhile, head coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that top wide receivers Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Deebo Samuel (heel) are both trending in the right direction and expected to practice this week, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters that Rapp (knee) won't practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

The Washington product is now dealing with an apparent knee injury following the Bills' Week 7 bye. McDermott noted that Rapp's injury is still being evaluated, but it's serious enough to hold him out of Wednesday's practice. He's played 342 defensive snaps over the Bills' first six games this season, recording 26 total tackles. Rapp likely needs to upgrade to at least limited practice participation Thursday or Friday to have a chance at playing in Sunday's matchup against the Panthers.

The Giants stated Wednesday that Gano (groin) has been designated for return from IR and is slated to practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Gano has missed four consecutive games due to a lingering groin injury. The transaction kicks off a 21-day window wherein he can practice without counting against the 53-man roster limit. He can be fully activated from IR at any point in that span, making Gano potentially eligible to retake the field as early as Sunday versus the Eagles. Jude McAtamney has filled in as New York's top placekicker with Gano sidelined, and across four regular-season appearances has completed both of his field-goal tries but missed three of his 12 extra-point attempts.

Kincaid (oblique) will be limited at practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

Kincaid was inactive for the Bills' Week 6 loss to the Falcons after logging three straight limited practice listings. On the heels of the team's bye, the tight end will remain limited Wednesday as his team prepares for Sunday's game against the Panthers. In his absence versus Atlanta, fellow TE Dawson Knox caught one of his two targets for 19 yards, while Jackson Hawes wasn't targeted.

Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters that Jones (calf) will not practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

The 33-year-old's DNP on Wednesday comes as no surprise, as McDermott told reporters that Jones was considered "week-to-week" following the Bills' Week 6 loss to the Falcons. He's appeared in five of Buffalo's six contests this season, recording eight total tackles over 181 defensive snaps. If Jones is forced to miss his second consecutive game in Week 8 against the Panthers, expect Deone Walker to serve as one of the Bills' top interior defensive linemen.
