The Texans signed Winfree to a contract Monday.

Winfree worked out with the Texans on Saturday and appears to have flashed enough to warrant a 90-man roster spot. The wide receiver spent training camp time with Houston leading up to the 2025 season as well, and it remains to be seen if the 29-year-old will do enough to make a case to eventually survive cutdown day.

Mendoza returned to working with the Raiders' second-team offense at Monday's practice, Ryan McFadden of ESPN.com reports.

With Kirk Cousins not participating in the team period of Saturday's session due to his scuffle with teammate Maxx Crosby during Friday's practice, Mendoza took first-team reps in place of the veteran signal-caller. However, on Monday, Cousins was back in business and had his best performance of training camp to date, per McFadden. As the regular season approaches, Cousins continues to trend toward drawing the start in Week 1, but beyond that, given that Mendoza was the top overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, it will be only a matter of time before he gets his chance to lead the Raiders offense for good.

Amos (ankle) exited Monday's practice early, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Amos was activated from the active/PUP list Friday after finally recovering from the lower-leg injury he went down with in Week 10 of last season. The cornerback's return appears to be short-lived, and the ankle issue may very well be partially due to weakness caused by the prior leg injury. It is unclear how long the second-year player will be out and if he will need to miss regular-season time.

The Panthers waived Metayer on Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Metayer signed with the Panthers in late July. The undrafted free agent out of Arizona State initially joined the Steelers after the draft before being waived in early June. The tight end's longshot 53-man roster bid will come to an early conclusion, as the team utilized his spot to sign guard Joshua Gray in a corresponding move.

With Zane Gonzalez (undisclosed) having been placed on IR, Patterson is now the only kicker on the Dolphins' active roster.

During the 2025 regular season, Patterson started all 17 games for the Dolphins en route to making 27 of his 29 field-goal tries and all but one of his 35 PATs. With Gonzalez no longer in the mix, Patterson is on track to reprise his role as the team's top kicker, with his fantasy relevance linked to how well Miami's offense takes off with new QB Malik Willis at the helm.

Gonzalez (undisclosed) has been has been placed on IR by the Dolphins.

Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley previously noted that Gonzalez was considered week-to-week after suffering an undisclosed injury during Saturday's practice. In the wake of Monday's move, Riley Patterson -- who Gonzalez had been competing with -- is now the only kicker on the Dolphins' active roster.

Mims (undisclosed) was spotted working on a side field during the individual period of Monday's practice, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.

Per Gabriel, Mims, who left Friday's practice with an apparent injury and then didn't work Saturday, was present in pads for Monday's session, but it looks like the wideout is being eased back into the mix. Mims thus falls in the day-to-day category as Friday's preseason opener against the Falcons approaches.

The Cowboys signed Williams to a three-year, $105.9 million contract extension Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

According to Rapoport, the totality of Williams' deal is five years and $153.15 million with $101 million guaranteed. Dallas acquired Williams from the Jets ahead of the trade deadline last season, sending Mazi Smith, a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 first-rounder to New York. In seven regular-season games with the Cowboys, Williams logged 21 tackles (nine solo), including 1.5 sacks, and an interception. He's expected to anchor the middle of the defensive line for the next several seasons.

Kittle (Achilles) was seen running routes, catching passes and doing conditioning work prior to Monday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

According to Wagoner, it was the most extensive work Kittle has done at practice this summer, as he continues to work his way back from a torn Achilles. Kittle remains on the active/PUP list for San Francisco, but he's continued to say he's on track to play Week 1 against the Rams in 31 days. He'll turn 33 years old in two months but figures to remain a red-zone presence for Brock Purdy. Kittle is no longer a top-tier fantasy tight end, but he should be productive when on the field in an efficient 49ers offense.

New Chargers OC Mike McDaniel said Monday he'll likely use a "hot hand" approach in the backfield this season, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.

"Bad news, fantasy owners," McDaniel said regarding the roles for Hampton, Kimani Vidal and Keaton Mitchell. "Good news is I see all three of those guys producing at a very high level. Bad news is I can't tell you which games those are." Hampton is being drafted in the second round of best-ball drafts currently, which appears to be a rich price for a player involved in what could be a convoluted backfield in 2026. Hampton wasn't handpicked by McDaniel, and the team signed Mitchell to a two-year, $9.25 million deal at McDaniel's request during the offseason. Vidal has the trust of coach Jim Harbaugh after what he did in Hampton's place last season. There are a lot of mouths to feed in this offense as a whole, making Hampton a high-risk, potentially-high-reward fantasy pick.
