The 37-year-old Johnson is seeing steady usage on the Avalanche's third pairing this season. He's up to 15 points, 61 shots on net, 65 hits, 79 blocked shots and a plus-16 rating through 66 appearances. Johnson could reach the 20-point plateau this campaign for the first time since 2016-17.

  Johnson (illness) took part in practice Monday after skipping Sunday's session, according to Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now. Johnson appears to be on track to play Tuesday against Calgary. Johnson will accompany the Avalanche on the team's upcoming four-game road trip, so he might be ready to play Tuesday versus Calgary. He has earned three goals, 14 points, 78 blocked shots and 63 hits across 63 appearances this season. If Johnson can't play against the Flames, Caleb Jones could draw into the lineup.

Johnson forced a giveaway in the Avalanche's zone to lead a 2-on-1 that ended with Zach Parise scoring Colorado's first goal. Johnson's been uncharacteristically involved on offense of late, posting a goal and four assists over the last six games. His 14 points are the most for Johnson since 2016-17 when he recorded 32 as a member of the Blue Jackets.
