  The Blue Jackets released Rask from his professional tryout offer Wednesday. Rask picked up nine goals and 21 points through 47 games split between Minnesota and Seattle last season, so although he's been cut by Columbus, a few NHL teams may express interest in signing him once injuries begin to arise.

  Rask signed a professional tryout agreement with the Blue Jackets on Wednesday, per CapFriendly. Rask appeared in 47 games between the Wild and the Kraken last year, logging nine goals and 12 assists. The 29-year-old Swede will look to compete for a bottom-six role with the Blue Jackets in training camp, though he may have to settle for a two-way contract at best.

  Rask posted 21 points in 47 games between the Wild and the Kraken in 2021-22. By now, the book is written on Rask -- he's a solid secondary scorer with no physicality and not much speed. He's done well in his career to make the most of low shot totals. The 29-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent this summer if he doesn't put pen to paper on a new deal with the Kraken. Wherever he plays in 2022-23, he'll likely serve as no more than a middle-six option who is often a candidate to get scratched if he slumps given that he doesn't bring enough intangibles to command a full-time role.

• Kraken's Victor Rask: Fills empty cage

  Rask scored an empty-net goal on two shots in Friday's 3-0 win over the Sharks. Rask ended a four-game point drought with his insurance tally Friday. The 29-year-old has played well for the Kraken with eight points in 17 appearances since he was traded from the Wild. In 46 outings overall, the Swedish forward has 21 points, 56 shots on net and a plus-5 rating.

  Rask notched an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Avalanche. Rask helped out on Kole Lind's goal just 1:12 into the game. During his four-game point streak, Rask has put up two goals and three helpers. The Swedish forward has picked up seven points in 12 games since he was dealt to the Kraken from the Wild despite mainly playing in a bottom-six role.
