  Simon agreed to a two-year contract with HC Sparta Praha on Saturday. Simon joins his hometown team in the Czech Extraliga after playing in 72 games for Pittsburgh and Anaheim last season. He recorded 13 points, 88 shots on goal and 72 hits during the 2021-22 campaign. Simon mentioned in the press release that the Penguins invited him to attend training camp, but he decided he wanted to return home instead.

  Simon picked up four assists in 17 games after he was traded from the Penguins to the Ducks in March. Simon saw time all around the lineup with his new team. He played in a career-high 72 contests this year, earning 13 points with 88 shots on net, 72 hits, 34 PIM and an even plus-minus rating between the two clubs. The 27-year-old showed promise a few years ago with the Penguins, but that's mostly faded away now for a player that projects to just be a bottom-six option. He'll get to test free agency this summer.

The 27-year-old Simon has earned three assists with a plus-4 rating and 13 shots on net in nine games since he joined the Ducks at the trade deadline. The Czech winger has 12 points, 80 shots, 66 hits and 30 PIM through 64 outings overall.
