Chatfield ended a five-game point drought when he set up a Jordan Martinook tally in the first period. With the Hurricanes, Chatfield has emerged as a reliable shutdown defender, though he doesn't tend to rack up a lot of non-scoring production. He's at 14 points, 90 shots on net, 55 hits, 50 blocked shots, 26 PIM and a plus-17 rating over 62 appearances, well behind the pace that saw him put up 22 points across 72 regular-season outings in 2023-24.

The 28-year-old blueliner opened the scoring midway through the first period, converting a 2-on-1 break after a feed from Jordan Staal. Chatfield then helped set up Sebastian Aho for what proved to be the game-winner in the second frame. The performance snapped Chatfield out of a 15-game goal slump, during which he'd managed only one assist.   Chatfield notched an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Islanders. Chatfield ended a nine-game point drought with the helper on a Sebastian Aho tally in the first period. While Chatfield has just two points over 13 contests in January, he's also posted a plus-8 rating and 17 hits in that span. The 28-year-old has held down a top-four role this season, earning 11 points, 72 shots on net, a plus-20 rating, 45 hits and 43 blocked shots over 50 appearances in a shutdown role.

  Chatfield scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Sharks. With less than three minutes left in the third period, Chatfield knocked down a clearing attempt and then flipped a knuckling shot through traffic that found its way under Vitek Vanecek's arm and into the back of the net. It was Chatfield's third goal of the season, but all three have come in the last 11 games, a stretch in which he's also supplied two helpers, 15 shots on net, 10 blocked shots, six hits and a plus-2 rating.

  Chatfield posted an assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Panthers. Chatfield is humming along with four points over his last six games. He doesn't see more than traces of power-play time, but he's been impressive in a second-pairing role so far in 2024-25. Chatfield is at eight points, 31 shots on net, 22 blocked shots, 15 hits, 10 PIM and a plus-17 rating through 23 appearances. His defense stands out the most, but Chatfield is on pace to surpass his 22-point regular season from 2023-24, largely due to an increase of over three extra minutes of ice time per game.
