MacEwan was placed on waivers by the Senators on Sunday. MacEwan has two goals and an assist in 30 games with Ottawa this year, though just one of those points has come in his last 17 contests. Should he clear waivers, the 28-year-old MacEwan will likely remain with AHL Belleville as a depth option.

MacEwen provided an assist and five hits in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Kraken. MacEwen got on the scoresheet for the first time since his two-goal game versus the Kings on Oct. 14. The 28-year-old has seen steady fourth-line usage this season, though that's a role that rarely leads to offense. He's produced three points, 11 shots on net, 20 hits, nine PIM and a plus-3 rating through 10 appearances. MacEwen has seen less than 10 minutes of ice time in nine contests, so he has little opportunity to chip in.

MacEwen scored two goals in Monday's 8-7 overtime win over the Kings. Despite seeing just 5:14 in ice time, the least among all Ottawa forwards on the afternoon, MacEwen had a huge impact on the game as he beat Darcy Kuemper twice in the second period. The journeyman fourth-liner came into the contest with only 15 goals in 217 career NHL games, so he's highly unlikely to repeat this performance any time soon.

MacEwan was removed from injured reserve and will play Sunday against Washington, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. MacEwan will return after missing the last 17 games. He has three points and 40 hits through 24 appearances this season. Expect the 27-year-old to be in a limited, bottom-line role.
