O'Connor provided an assist in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Kings. O'Connor snapped a six-game point drought with the helper. The 28-year-old has often seen top-six minutes this season, though he was on the third line Wednesday. He'll likely stay there moving forward, as the Avalanche are expected to get back Valeri Nichushkin (suspension), Jonathan Drouin (upper body) and Miles Wood (upper body) for Friday's game versus the Capitals. O'Connor's picked up just three points with 20 shots on net, 28 hits and a minus-3 rating over 17 appearances, though he may be able to do more in a smaller role that's better suited to his skills.

O'Connor scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Senators. The tally was O'Connor's first point of 2024-25. He's been pressed into a second-line role for much of the season due to a number of injuries to other forwards. O'Connor missed a large portion of 2023-24 after undergoing hip surgery and appears to still be getting his overall game back up to speed. He's added 11 shots on net, 23 hits, nine PIM and a minus-4 rating through nine appearances. Once the Avalanche get healthier, he'll likely be a regular on the third line.

O'Connor scored an empty-net goal, dished an assist, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Thursday's 3-1 preseason win over the Golden Knights. This was O'Connor's second game of preseason action. The 28-year-old's 2023-24 campaign was abbreviated by hip surgery, but he hasn't been limited since camp opened. The Avalanche signed O'Connor to a six-year extension in September, solidifying his place as an important part of the team's middle six. O'Connor has produced between 24 and 26 points in each of the last three years while also adding some grit and penalty-killing skill.

O'Connor signed a six-year, $15 million contract extension with the Avalanche on Monday. O'Connor was heading into the final season of his contract and set to be a UFA after the 2024-25 campaign before inking a new deal Monday. The 28-year-old battled a hip injury in 2023-24 -- he appeared in 57 regular-season contests, generating 25 points and a plus-13 rating. The right-shot forward also missed the entirety of the postseason due to the injury. O'Connor will fill a middle-six role while seeing time on the penalty kill for Colorado.

O'Connor (hip) will hit the ground running when training camp opens, telling reporters Wednesday, "I was skating mid-June, so it gave me lots of runway before this season to sort of ramp it up and be feeling good come camp," per Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com. O'Connor has reached the 20-point threshold in each of the last three seasons, including last year when he was limited to just 57 regular-season contests but set a new personal best with 13 goals. Assuming he can stay healthy for the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign, he could top the 30-point mark for the first time in his five-year NHL career.
