Kakko scored twice Saturday in a 6-2 win over Buffalo. Kakko has seven points (three goals, four assists) in 10 games since his arrival in a trade with the Rangers on Dec. 18. He has always had game-breaking offensive skills coupled with elite vision and strong puck skills, but he has never put that all together in the NHL. Kakko may be rounding into his draft day scouting report on the Kraken's top line.

Kakko notched an assist in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Oilers. Kakko has settled nicely into a top-six role with the Kraken, earning four points and 11 shots on net over seven contests. Seattle scores by committee, so don't expect Kakko to be a point-per-game threat, but the 23-year-old looks to have benefited from a change in scenery after falling out of favor with the Rangers. The winger has 18 points, 56 shots on net, 35 hits and a plus-9 rating through 37 appearances this season.

Kakko notched two assists in Monday's 5-2 win over Utah. Both points came in the third period as the Kraken broke the game open, and Kakko set up the game-winner with a pass from his own end that sprung Jaden Schwartz for a breakaway. Kakko is seeing time on the first line and top power-play unit as Seattle gives the second overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft every chance to break out, and he's responded with a goal and three points in his first five games with his new squad.

Kakko scored a goal on three shots and added five hits in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Avalanche. The goal was Kakko's first in three games as a member of the Kraken. Matty Beniers won a faceoff and Kakko released a quick shot through the legs of the official to surprise Mackenzie Blackwood, though the Avalanche replied with a goal of their own just 11 seconds later to tie the score at 2-2. Kakko's role hasn't changed much since he was dealt from the Rangers -- while he was listed on the Kraken's top line Sunday, his 14:41 of ice time indicates he's still viewed as a middle-six winger. Kakko has 15 points, 50 shots on net, 32 hits and a plus-8 rating over 33 appearances in 2024-25.

Kakko was traded from the Rangers to the Kraken on Wednesday in exchange for Will Borgen, a 2025 third-round pick and a 2025 sixth-round pick, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. The Rangers continue to retool their roster amid a brutal slump, and this time, it'll lead to them parting with the second-overall pick from 2019. Kakko has yet to live up to that draft position -- his best season was in 2022-23 when he had 18 goals and 40 points in 82 games. Kakko should slot into a middle-six role and have a better chance at power-play time in Seattle, but his new team's offense-by-committee approach is unlikely to unlock more scoring in his game.
