  Novak scored a goal on four shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Jets. Novak opened the scoring 4:05 into the first period, beating Connor Hellebuyck on a partial breakaway to give the Preds an early lead. The goal is Novak's first since March 19 -- he came into Thursday with just one assist in his previous nine contests. The 26-year-old center is up to 41 points (16 goals, 24 assists) through 68 games this year, two shy of his career high set last season.

Novak has four points over six games since he inked a three-year contract extension March 4. The 26-year-old has become an integral part of the Predators' offense, filling a middle-six role. For the season, he has 14 goals, 38 points, 86 shots on net and a minus-3 rating through 57 appearances. He should be able to challenge for his marks of 17 goals and 43 points from last season.

  Novak signed a three-year, $10.5 million contract extension with the Predators on Monday. Novak has developed into a solid middle-six contributor that sees power-play time over the past two seasons with Nashville, picking up 30 goals and 77 points, 22 of which have come with the man advantage, over 102 games. The 26-year-old forward should continue to produce at a similar rate over the next three campaigns.
