NHL Player News

  • Jets' Gabriel Vilardi: Two points in Sunday's win

Vilardi scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Rangers.

The 26-year-old winger completed his big game by potting the shootout winner. Vilardi has struggled to make a consistent impact in March, getting onto the scoresheet in only four of 12 games while collecting four goals and six points. Sunday's goal was his 27th of the season, tying his career high, and his 20th power-play point of 2025-26 -- the second straight campaign he's reached that mark.

  • Kings' Quinton Byfield: Picks up pair of points

Byfield scored a goal on three shots and added an assist in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Mammoth.

Byfield was part of a pair of quick responses to Lawson Crouse goals in the first period. He set up Alex Laferriere on the Kings' first goal, and Byfield got the second one unassisted in the middle of the frame. The 23-year-old Byfield has two goals and three assists over his last four outings, giving him 15 goals, 38 points, 145 shots on net, 52 hits, 37 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a minus-10 rating over 67 appearances on the year.

  • Mammoth's Kevin Stenlund: Collects pair of assists

Stenlund recorded two assists, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Kings.

Stenlund has four helpers over his last four outings despite missing a game due to a lower-body injury in that span. The 29-year-old center continues to work in a bottom-six role, though he's gained enough responsibility to get extra minutes when protecting a lead or keeping a game close. He was also on the ice in overtime, picking up the secondary helper on Nick Schmaltz's game-winner. Stenlund is at 18 points, 58 shots on net, 52 blocked shots, 36 hits and 24 PIM through 69 contests this season.

  • Mammoth's Nick Schmaltz: Tallies twice in overtime win

Schmaltz scored a pair of goals on seven shots and added two hits in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Kings.

Schmaltz had gone eight games without a goal, picking up just three assists with 20 shots on net in that span. The 30-year-old was able to break out of the funk with a second-period tally, and he added the game-winning goal 1:46 into overtime. Schmaltz has a career-high 26 goals, including a personal-best seven game-winners this season. He's also at 63 points, matching his high-water mark from last year, while adding 172 shots on net, 45 blocked shots, 26 PIM and a plus-23 rating through 71 appearances in 2025-26.

  • Ryan Strome C | CGY

Flames' Ryan Strome: Gets game-winner in overtime

Strome scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Lightning.

Strome hadn't scored over the last seven games. He's still been productive in a middle-six role with six points across nine outings since he was dealt to the Flames. Overall, the 32-year-old forward has 15 points, 45 shots on net and a minus-8 rating over 42 appearances between Calgary and Anaheim this season.

  • Morgan Frost C | CGY

Flames' Morgan Frost: Scores again in overtime win

Frost scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Lightning.

Frost has three goals on 10 shots over his last four games. The 26-year-old has grown into a steady top-six role this season, offering decent offense on a low-scoring team. He's now at 17 goals, 35 points, 119 shots on net, 45 hits, 33 blocked shots and a minus-17 rating over 70 appearances. Frost is on pace to get back to the 40-point mark this season after missing it last year.

  • Flames' Mikael Backlund: Buries goal Sunday

Backlund scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Lightning.

Backlund snapped a three-game skid with the second-period tally. He gave the Flames a 3-1 lead, but it didn't last. The 37-year-old center continues to be a leader on offense with 16 goals, 39 points, 167 shots on net and a plus-10 rating over 70 contests for the low-scoring Flames. Overall, Backlund's offense is still fairly modest, though he'll have some appeal in deeper fantasy formats.

  • Leo Carlsson C | ANA

Ducks' Leo Carlsson: Dishes pair of helpers

Carlsson recorded two power-play assists and three shots on goal in Sunday's 6-5 overtime win over the Sabres.

Carlsson set up Chris Kreider's first-period tally and also helped out on Mikael Granlund's equalizer late in the third. Carlsson has earned three goals and three assists over his last four games, and his effort Sunday gave him his first power-play points since Feb. 27 versus the Jets. The top-line center is up to 58 points (16 on the power play), 150 shots on net, 31 PIM and a plus-1 rating across 58 outings.

  • Ducks' Mikael Granlund: Nets equalizer Sunday

Granlund scored a power-play goal on two shots in Sunday's 6-5 overtime win over the Sabres.

Granlund has scored in back-to-back contests since he shook off a six-game slump. The Ducks look to have a battle opening up for the second-line center job, with Granlund and Mason McTavish competing for those minutes. Granlund has 14 goals, 29 points (six on the power play), 90 shots on net and a minus-11 rating over 46 appearances this season, but his ability to handle all situations and his veteran leadership could help him keep the spot over McTavish as the Ducks look to keep their claim to the top spot in the Pacific Division.

  • Golden Knights' Raphael Lavoie: Buries pair of goals for Henderson

Lavoie scored twice in AHL Henderson's 7-2 win over Texas on Sunday.

Lavoie has six multi-point efforts during a seven-game point streak, earning nine goals and six assists in that span. The 25-year-old forward is up to 22 goals and 41 points across 34 appearances this season. He's been good in the AHL but has no points in 17 NHL contests over the last three campaigns.
