  • Canucks' Linus Karlsson: Called up Wednesday

Karlsson was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday.

Karlsson has no points over two NHL appearances this season. He's impressed when available at the AHL level, racking up 18 points over 17 contests for Abbotsford. He'll likely see bottom-six minutes if he gets into Vancouver's lineup.

  • Blue Jackets' Cole Sillinger: Sitting out Wednesday

Sillinger (upper body) won't play Wednesday versus the Maple Leafs.

Sillinger has one goal over five appearances since he returned from a one-game absence due to an illness. It's unclear when he sustained the injury, as he logged 19:10 of ice time versus the Islanders in the Blue Jackets' last game Monday. Columbus will dress seven defensemen for this contest.

  • Flyers' Anthony Richard: Up from minors

Richard was called up from AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Richard has eight goals and 19 points in 18 appearances with the Phantoms this season. He's also supplied two goals and six points across seven outings with Philadelphia. Aleksei Kolosov was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.

  • Penguins' Rickard Rakell: Set to return Thursday

Rakell (personal) took part in Wednesday's practice, paving the way for him to play Thursday versus Anaheim, Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site reports.

Rakell has 23 goals, 40 points, 77 hits and 53 blocks in 48 outings in 2024-25. He'll likely resume his role on the top line alongside Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust. That might in turn shift Anthony Beauvillier from the Crosby line to Evgeni Malkin's unit and knock Cody Glass off the top six.

  • Jets' Mason Appleton: Slated to return Wednesday

Appleton (lower body) is expected to be activated off injured reserve and play Wednesday versus Colorado.

Appleton last played Dec. 28. He has six goals, 15 points, 35 hits and 20 blocks in 37 appearances in 2024-25. Appleton is projected to serve on the fourth line alongside Morgan Barron and David Gustafsson. Adam Lowry will exit the lineup due to an upper-body injury.

  • Adam Lowry C | WPG

Jets' Adam Lowry: Designated for IR

Lowry (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, per the NHL media site.

Considering Lowry was deemed week-to-week by head coach Scott Arniel on Wednesday, it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him landing on injured reserve. Additionally, the extra roster spot will allow the Jets to activate Mason Appleton (lower body) off IR ahead of Wednesday's clash with Colorado.

  • Adam Lowry C | WPG

    Jets' Adam Lowry: Is week-to-week

Lowry (upper body) is week-to-week, coach Scott Arniel told Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press on Wednesday.

Lowry left Monday's 5-2 loss to Utah because of the injury. He has 11 goals, 26 points, 88 hits and 41 blocks in 48 appearances in 2024-25. The loss of Lowry might be partially offset by Mason Appleton (lower body), who is close to returning and might draw into the lineup Wednesday.

  • Nico Sturm C | MIN

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Put on injured reserve

Sturm (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, per Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.

Sturm last played Monday, so his placement can be retroactive to that date. He has five goals, 11 points, 53 hits and 17 blocks in 41 appearances in 2024-25. The Sharks used the roster spot freed by placing Sturm on IR to claim Walker Duehr off waivers from Calgary.

  • Sharks' Alexander Wennberg: Delivers helper in loss

Wennberg provided an assist in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Predators.

Wennberg has two helpers over five contests since he returned from a one-game absence due to an illness. The 30-year-old center moved to the wing for the Sharks' back-to-back in Boston and Nashville. One of Wennberg or Mikael Granlund has often been shifted to the wing at times to stay in the top six. For the season, Wennberg has done pretty well with 22 points, 58 shots on net, 48 blocked shots and a minus-16 rating through 49 appearances.

  • Luke Kunin C | FLA

Sharks' Luke Kunin: Finds twine in loss

Kunin scored a goal on three shots and added three hits in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Predators.

Kunin ended a seven-game point drought with his first-period tally. The 27-year-old hadn't scored since Dec. 23 against the Canucks, though it's not unusual for him to have some slumps as more of a physical checking forward. He's up to 11 goals and seven assists over 50 appearances, matching his point production exactly from 77 contests in 2023-24. Kunin also has 73 shots on net, 127 hits, 50 blocked shots, 33 PIM and a minus-14 rating this season.
