John Tavares C | TOR
Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Five-game, six-point streak
Tavares put up an assist Thursday in a 6-5 win over Winnipeg.
Tavares extended his point streak to five games (six points; one goal, five assists). He's on pace to deliver a 30-goal, 75-point season with about 215 shots. Tavares hasn't put up many points on the power play (two goals, three assists) because the entire team has struggled there. So, the recent assistant coaching change could add a boost to that total.

Gabriel Vilardi C | WPG
Jets' Gabriel Vilardi: First goal in six games
Vilardi had a goal and an assist in a 6-5 loss to the Maple Leafs on Thursday.
The goal snapped a seven-game goal drought for the sniper, who continues to pace toward career highs in goals and points. Vilardi has 35 points, including 17 goals, and 83 shots in 39 games. That career pace hinges on health, though, something that the winger has been unable to sustain in any of his six previous seasons. Now might be the time to consider leveraging Vilardi's success in a deal, as injuries seem to have a way of finding him.

Mark Scheifele C | WPG
Jets' Mark Scheifele: Career season continues
Scheifele scored twice and had an assist in a 6-5 loss to Toronto on Thursday.
Scheifele almost had a hattie, but was stymied by Dennis Hildeby with just six seconds remaining. He has been a bright spot for the struggling Jets, who have dropped to the bottom of the NHL courtesy of a 1-6-3 record in their last 10. And his output Thursday may have been a show-you moment for Team Canada brass, who left him off the country's roster for the upcoming Olympics. Scheifele has 20 goals, 48 points and 87 shots in 39 games this season, and he is on pace for his first-ever 100-point season. He has the most points this season of any Canadian not to crack the team.

Calum Ritchie C | NYI
Islanders' Calum Ritchie: Goals in consecutive contests
Ritchie scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Mammoth.
Ritchie has scored in back-to-back games since he was scratched versus the Blue Jackets on Sunday. If head coach Patrick Roy was looking to send a message to the 20-year-old, it appears to have been received well. Ritchie could get a bump in usage if Bo Horvat (lower body) misses time after leaving Thursday's contest. Ritchie is up to six goals, 10 points, 34 shots on net, 18 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 30 appearances this season.

Barrett Hayton C | UTA
Mammoth's Barrett Hayton: Pockets pair of helpers
Hayton registered two assists and went plus-3 in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Islanders.
Hayton was one of six Mammoth skaters to earn multiple points. He set up Dylan Guenther's first two goals of the game. This was Hayton's first multi-point effort all season, and it could spark his offense in the second half. The center has four goals, seven helpers, 60 shots on net, 26 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 36 appearances in a middle-six role. He's shooting just 6.7 percent thus far -- a little positive regression should be in order, though he could also do better than 1.67 shots per game, as he's often been closer to two per contest in recent years.

Alexei Protas C | WAS
Capitals' Aliaksei Protas: Scores again Thursday
Protas scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Senators.
Protas took a bit of a beating Thursday, briefly leaving the game after going feet-first into the board in the first period. He also took a hack around the ankle later in the contest, but he was able to finish it despite the physical toll limiting him to 14:55 of ice time. Protas has four goals and five assists during a five-game point streak, and he's up to 16 goals, 31 points, 89 shots on net and a plus-21 rating over 41 appearances at the halfway mark of the Capitals' season.

Dylan Strome C | WAS
Capitals' Dylan Strome: Nets power-play marker
Strome scored a power-play goal on four shots, added two PIM and went minus-3 in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Senators.
Strome's five-game point streak ended Wednesday despite the Capitals 6-3 win over the Rangers in that contest. He bounced right back Thursday, though the 2-0 lead his goal produced didn't stick. The 28-year-old center is up to nine goals, 32 points (nine on the power play), 70 shots on net, 27 blocked shots and a plus-10 rating over 39 appearances. After reaching a point-per-game pace in the 2024-25 regular season, Strome looks to have regressed back to production in the 60-65 point range.

Ridly Greig C | OTT
Senators' Ridly Greig: Tallies in win
Greig scored a goal on four shots and added two hits in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Capitals.
Greig has three goals over his last four games. He helped the Senators erase a 2-0 deficit, scoring late in the second period to tie the contest. The 23-year-old forward is up to five goals, 14 points, 59 shots on net, 42 hits, 43 PIM and 23 blocked shots across 34 appearances. He was listed on the fourth line Thursday but has typically functioned as a middle-six forward regardless of what the Senators' lineup looks like on paper.

Auston Matthews C | TOR
Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Massive four-point game
Matthews (lower body) scored three goals and added an assist in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Jets.
It was Matthews' 14th NHL hat trick. His third goal stood as the winner; it was his 419th regular-season snipe in the NHL, which puts him one goal from tying Mats Sundin for the most in franchise history. Matthews is on a personal three-game point streak (interrupted by injury) that includes four goals, four assists and 19 shots. He suddenly seems inspired, and that's the best gift that his managers received this holiday season.

Jonathan Marchessault C | NSH
Predators' Jonathan Marchessault: Out again Thursday
Marchessault (lower body) won't play versus the Kraken on Wednesday, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.
Marchessault is set for his seventh straight game. The 35-year-old winger is still considered day-to-day, but it's not yet clear if he's close to returning. His next chance to play is Saturday in Calgary.
