  • Nicolas Roy C | COL

Maple Leafs' Nicolas Roy: Four points in last six games

Roy scored a goal and added an assist Tuesday in a 4-0 win over the Devils.

Roy's goal -- a tap past Jacob Markstrom's left pad -- came one second after a Leafs power play expired. It was his fourth goal of the season (36 games). Roy isn't a regular offensive contributor, but he does have four points (two goals, two assists) to go with nine hits over his last six games. With Auston Matthews (lower body) out after taking a puck off the foot, Roy may see more opportunity in the short term. It may not be enough to make him a fantasy asset at such a deep position, but the Leafs will go with the hottest hand given their desperate need for points, and Roy seems to be a touch warmer than Scott Laughton right now.

  • Blackhawks' Jason Dickinson: Hurt versus Islanders

Dickinson (undisclosed) won't finish Tuesday's game against the Islanders.

Dickinson didn't play in the second period and was ruled out before the start of the third. The 30-year-old joins Connor Bedard (upper body) and Frank Nazar (upper body) as injured centers for the Blackhawks. Dickinson can be considered day-to-day for now, but he's already had a shoulder injury cost him time this season, and if that issue was aggravated, he'd be in line for another absence.

  • Golden Knights' William Karlsson: Unlikely to make Olympic roster

Karlsson (lower body) is not expected to be available for Sweden's Olympic roster, Darren Dreger of TSN reports Tuesday.

While this isn't an official update on his status from the Golden Knights, it's safe to assume he won't be back on the NHL roster until after the Olympics as well. Karlsson has already missed nearly two months and looks to be out for another two months at a minimum due to his lower-body injury. It was previously reported that he was expected to be back before the Olympic break, but without an update from Vegas, his timeline to return remains murky.

  • Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Out of action Tuesday

Matthews (lower body) won't play Tuesday versus the Devils.

Matthews' injury, sustained Sunday versus the Red Wings, will end up costing him at least one game. His next chance to play is Thursday versus the Jets. In Matthews' absence, look for John Tavares to move up to the first line, while Nicolas Roy and Scott Laughton could also be set for increased minutes.

  • Maple Leafs' Dakota Joshua: Shifts to IR

Joshua (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, per the NHL media site.

Joshua is under observation in Detroit after suffering a kidney injury against the Red Wings on Sunday, according to Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun. It's unclear when Joshua will be available to return to the lineup, but he will miss at least the next three games, starting with Tuesday's matchup against New Jersey. He has produced six goals, 10 points, 32 shots on net, 26 blocked shots and 127 hits through 36 appearances this season.

  • Sharks' Adam Gaudette: Won't play Wednesday

Gaudette (lower body) won't play against Minnesota on Wednesday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Gaudette will miss at least one game after getting injured in Monday's 5-4 win over Anaheim. He has contributed eight goals, 14 points, 49 shots on net and 32 hits across 33 appearances this season. Following his call-up from AHL San Jose on Tuesday, Pavol Regenda will probably replace Gaudette in Wednesday's lineup.

  • Jack Eichel C | LV

Golden Knights' Jack Eichel: GTD for Wednesday

Eichel (lower body) is going to be a game-time decision Wednesday against Nashville, according to SinBin Vegas.

Eichel has sat out six straight contests but appears to be closing in on a return to game action, even if he's unable to give it a go Wednesday. The star center was rolling prior to getting hurt, earning four goals and 17 points over his last 12 games. Once he's back in the lineup, Mitch Marner will shift back to the wing, which will provide Vegas with more depth up the middle in the form of Eichel and Tomas Hertl.

  • Blue Jackets' Isac Lundestrom: Moves to IR

Lundestrom (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, per the NHL media site.

Lundestrom has missed two games after being injured in last Saturday's practice. He is week-to-week, and it's unclear when he will be available to return to the lineup. Lundestrom has accounted for one goal, four assists, 30 shots on net, 16 blocked shots and 13 hits across 35 appearances this season.

  • Sharks' Adam Gaudette: Injured Monday

Gaudette sustained a lower-body injury during Monday's 5-4 win over the Ducks, per Eric Stephens of The Athletic.

Gaudette notched an assist and a plus-1 rating in 10:45 of ice time prior to departing Monday's divisional matchup. As a result of the right-shot forward's injury, the Sharks recalled Pavol Regenda from the minors Tuesday. Gaudette should be considered questionable, at best, for Wednesday's home game against Minnesota.

  • Ross Colton C | COL

Avalanche's Ross Colton: Bags apple Monday

Colton notched an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Monday's 5-2 win over the Kings.

Colton has had a quiet December, earning just two assists with 23 shots on net, 24 hits and a plus-1 rating over 13 appearances this month. The 29-year-old can do better than that, but the Avalanche's current good health at forward has seen him slip into a bottom-six role. Colton is at 15 points, 80 shots, 88 hits and a plus-9 rating over 38 appearances this season and will be one of the Avalanche's most versatile options in the lineup.
