  • Sam Reinhart C | FLA

Panthers' Sam Reinhart: Still sidelined Thursday

Reinhart (foot) won't play Thursday versus the Wild, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Reinhart is set to miss his sixth straight game while battling a number of issues, including a foot problem. Given the Panthers' place in the standings, there will be no rush to get Reinhart back in action, and he continues to lack a timeline for his return. The Panthers play a back-to-back versus the Islanders and Rangers over the weekend, and it's unclear if Reinhart will be available for either of those games.

  • Ethen Frank C | WAS

Capitals' Ethen Frank: Expected to miss Thursday's game

Frank (lower body) wore a non-contact jersey during the morning skate, per Capitals radio announcer John Walton, which suggests that he won't play Thursday against Utah.

Frank also missed Tuesday's 3-0 loss to St. Louis. He has 12 goals and 24 points in 60 outings in 2025-26. Frank will likely serve in a bottom-six role once he's ready to return.

  • Red Wings' Sheldon Dries: Returns to AHL

Dries was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday.

Dries has no points, two shots and eight hits in five outings with Detroit in 2025-26. He also has 20 goals and 37 points in 48 outings this season in the minors with AHL Grand Rapids.

  • Mammoth's Barrett Hayton: Considered week-to-week

Head coach Andre Tourigny said Thursday that Hayton (upper body) is considered week-to-week, Brogan Houston of the Deseret News reports.

Hayton suffered an upper-body injury during Tuesday's matchup against the Oilers, and he's facing a multi-game absence late in the season. The 25-year-old has recorded 10 goals, 15 assists, 54 PIM, 34 hits, 29 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating while averaging 15:07 of ice time over 67 appearances this year, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be in the mix to return before the end of the regular season.

  • Noah Ostlund C | BUF

Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Dealing with upper-body issue

Ostlund missed practice Thursday after suffering an upper-body injury, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.

Ostlund has found the back of the net just once in his last 18 outings, recording 17 shots while adding seven helpers. If the 22-year-old center can't suit up against the Red Wings on Friday, it could mean more ice time for Zach Benson, as well as seeing Alex Tuch reclaim a power-play role.

  • Ducks' Jansen Harkins: Won't play versus Flames

Harkins (upper body) will not be in the lineup to face Calgary on Thursday, Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune reports.

Harkins is currently mired in a 26-game goal drought during which he registered a mere 24 shots while chipping in five helpers. Given his lack of offensive upside, few fantasy managers figure to be impacted by the 28-year-old center's potential absence. Nathan Gaucher could step into a fourth-line role in Harkins' absence.

  • Blues' Robert Thomas: Ruled out Thursday

Thomas (upper body) will miss Thursday's tilt against San Jose, according to Lou Korac of NHL.com.

Thomas was injured Tuesday against Washington when he was hit by Pierre-Luc Dubois, who received a match penalty for his misdeed. Thomas has 16 goals and 30 assists in 53 games this season, including nine points on the power play. He is day-to-day at this time and could return as early as Saturday in Toronto. Dalibor Dvorsky will move up to the top line, replacing Thomas.

  • Islanders' Matthew Highmore: Two goals for Bridgeport

Highmore scored twice in AHL Bridgeport's 3-2 win over Charlotte in Wednesday.

Highmore has picked up the pace with five goals and three assists over his last 11 contests. For the season, the 30-year-old forward has 13 goals, 34 points and 78 shots on net over 62 appearances with Bridgeport. He saw a one-day stint in the NHL in October but hasn't been in the mix for a call-up since.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Records two power-play helpers

Thompson notched two power-play assists and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins.

Thompson had gone seven games without a helper, and he had just two goals in that span. He set up Jason Zucker twice in Wednesday's contest, helping the Sabres add one standings point to their total for the year. Thompson has been a big part of the team's success with 36 goals, 38 helpers, 22 power-play points, 242 shots on net, 75 hits and a minus-5 rating over 72 appearances in a top-line role.

  • Bruins' Casey Mittelstadt: Scores in 500th career game

Mittelstadt scored a goal in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Sabres.

Mittelstadt tied the game with 6:00 left in the third period, forcing overtime. This was the 27-year-old forward's 500th career game, and it came against the team that drafted him eighth overall in 2017. Mittelstadt had gone 11 games without a goal entering Wednesday, though he had six assists in that span. He's up to 14 goals, 37 points, 71 shots on net and a plus-8 rating over 62 appearances this season, mainly in a second-line role.
