  • Oilers' Mattias Ekholm: Adds helper in loss

    Ekholm notched an assist, four shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-3 rating in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

    Ekholm has racked up four assists over the last three games, though he has a minus-2 rating in that span. The 35-year-old helped out on a Connor McDavid tally in the third period. Ekholm is up to one goal, five assists, 13 shots on net, 13 blocked shots, 14 PIM and a plus-2 rating over six appearances this postseason while featuring in a top-four role.

  • Oilers' Evan Bouchard: Puts up assist Saturday

    Bouchard notched an assist, three shots on goal and three blocked shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

    Bouchard had been held off the scoresheet for the first time in the series in Game 4. He has a goal and five helpers over five contests versus the Panthers as he continues to make a substantial impact on offense. The defenseman's had a strong postseason with 23 points, 67 shots on net, 33 blocked shots and a plus-10 rating across 21 appearances.

  • Bruins' Victor Soderstrom: Inks one-year contract

    Soderstrom signed a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Saturday.

    Soderstrom was traded from Chicago to the Bruins on Friday. The 24-year-old blueliner was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by Arizona and played in 53 regular-season games with the Coyotes, scoring once and adding 10 assists. He signed a two-year contract with Brynas IF of the SHL in September, but he likely has an out to return to the NHL this season and could land a spot with Boston going into the 2025-26 campaign. Soderstrom had nine goals and 28 assists in 49 SHL regular-season games in 2024-25.

  • Blackhawks' Victor Soderstrom: From Windy City to Beantown

    Soderstrom's NHL rights have been traded from the Blackhawks to the Bruins in exchange for Ryan Mast and a seventh-round pick, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports Friday.

    Soderstrom did not play in the NHL last season, opting to play in the SHL with Brynas IF instead. During the 2024-25 campaign, the 24-year-old posted 37 points in 49 regular-season games. It remains to be seen if this move is a precursor for a return to North America with the Bruins organization, but it should be noted that he has one year left on a two-year deal with Brynas signed in September of 2024. Soderstrom has 11 points in 53 career NHL games.

    Ekholm logged two assists, three shots on goal, four blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Panthers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

    Ekholm helped out on a Darnell Nurse goal during the Oilers' second-period comeback, and he also assisted on Leon Draisaitl's game-winner in overtime. The 35-year-old Ekholm continues to be exactly what the Oilers need in a top-four role. He has a goal, four assists, a plus-5 rating, 14 PIM, nine shots on net and 11 blocked shots over five playoff appearances.

    Oilers' Jake Walman: Pots go-ahead goal in win

    Walman scored a goal, added four hits and blocked seven shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Panthers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

    The Oilers looked to be in danger after going down 3-0 in the first period, but Walman's tally put them ahead 4-3 at 13:36 of the third. The lead didn't last through the end of that frame, but Leon Draisaitl delivered more overtime heroics to tie the series at 2-2. Walman has gotten on the scoresheet in six of the last eight games, posting a goal and six assists. Overall, he's at nine points, 33 shots on net, 38 hits, 59 blocks and a plus-11 rating over 20 playoff outings.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Snaps slump with two points

    Nurse scored a goal on four shots, dished an assist, blocked four shots, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Panthers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

    Nurse scored to bring the Oilers within a goal at 12:47 of the second period and set up a Vasily Podkolzin tally 2:18 later to tie the game. Prior to Thursday, Nurse had gone seven contests without a point. The defenseman hasn't been a major factor on offense this postseason, picking up seven points through 20 outings, but he's added 56 hits, 41 blocked shots, 42 shots on net, 31 PIM and a plus-4 rating while skating in a top-four role.

    Oilers' Jake Walman: Assist streak continues

    Walman logged an assist, two shots on goal, three hits and two blocked shots in Friday's 5-4 double-overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

    Walman has earned five helpers during his four-game streak. He set up Corey Perry for the game-tying goal at 19:42 of the third period, the latest equalizer in Cup Finals history. The 29-year-old Walman is now at eight points, a plus-11 rating, 31 shots on net, 31 hits and 49 blocked shots through 18 playoff appearances. While he's played in a third-pairing role this postseason, Walman has been impactful in all zones, doing exactly what was expected of him when the Oilers acquired him from the Sharks in March.

    Bouchard scored a goal on eight shots, added two assists, blocked four shots and logged four PIM in Friday's 5-4 double-overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

    Bouchard was involved in all of the Oilers' first-period tallies. He's produced eight multi-point efforts this postseason, and this was his first three-point game since he had three assists in the playoff opener versus the Kings on April 21. Bouchard is at seven goals, 14 helpers, 52 shots on net, 26 blocked shots and a plus-11 rating through 18 playoff outings.

    Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Two more assists in win

    Schmidt logged two assists and two hits in Friday's 5-4 double-overtime win over the Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

    Schmidt helped out on first-period tallies by Sam Bennett (on the power play) and Seth Jones. This was Schmidt's second two-assist game in a row and his third this postseason. The defenseman is up to three goals, eight helpers, 20 shots on net, 30 hits, 16 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating over 19 appearances. He continues to make a positive impact from his third-pairing role.
