  • Capitals' Martin Fehervary: Not in lineup Thursday

Fehervary (rest) will miss Washington's regular-season finale against Pittsburgh on Thursday, per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post.

The Capitals are dressing just five defensemen along with 13 forwards, but they should shift back to the usual six blueliners for Game 1 of their first-round series against Montreal on Monday. Fehervary is concluding the regular season with five goals, 25 points, 139 hits and 150 blocks across 81 appearances.

The Capitals are taking the unusual step of dressing 13 forwards and five defensemen as they look ahead to the playoffs. He'll probably be back in the lineup for Game 1 of Washington's first-round series against Montreal on Monday.

Chychrun (rest) will play Thursday versus the Penguins, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.

Capitals' John Carlson: Still out Thursday

Carlson (rest) won't play Thursday versus the Penguins, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.

The Capitals will play with 13 forwards and five defensemen for their regular-season finale. Carlson has rested the last three games, and while there's no glaring concern about the 35-year-old's status, that much rest will at least raise some eyebrows. It's unclear whether his rest will impact his status for Game 1 versus the Canadiens on Monday.

Slavin (rest) isn't expected to suit up for Thursday's regular-season finale against Ottawa, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Chatfield made 79 appearances for the Hurricanes during the regular season and logged seven goals, 11 assists, 64 hits, 64 blocked shots and 54 PIM while averaging 18:53 of ice time. He should return to action for Game 1 of Carolina's first-round series against New Jersey on Sunday.

Seider logged two assists and a plus-4 rating in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Devils.

Seider helped out on third-period tallies by Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat. The 24-year-old Seider bounced back from a stretch of just two assists over 14 contests to pick up five points across his last two games. For the season, he has eight goals, 37 helpers, 159 shots on net, 210 hits, 179 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 81 outings.
