John Marino D | UTA
Hockey Club's John Marino: Earns first helper of season
Marino logged an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Blues.
Marino has been eased back into action after missing the first 42 contests of the season due to a back injury. That ended Saturday, as he was called on for 24:14 of ice time in the absence of Mikhail Sergachev (upper body). Marino is likely to stick in a top-four going forward, though he's more of a shutdown defenseman than a big point producer -- his career high is 26 points in 56 outings in 2019-20, his rookie year. His helper Saturday was his first point of the season to go with two shots on net, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over three appearances.

Michael Kesselring D | BUF
Hockey Club's Michael Kesselring: Lights lamp on power play
Kesselring scored a power-play goal on six shots and blocked two shots in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Blues.
The goal was Kesselring's first since Dec. 7, and he had just three helpers over the 18 games in between. The 25-year-old saw a larger role Saturday, logging 21:11 of ice time because Mikhail Sergachev (upper body) was out of the lineup. Kesselring has thrived this season with five goals, 13 assists, two power-play points, 85 shots on net, 54 hits, 38 blocked shots, 42 PIM and a plus-10 rating through 45 appearances. His production can help in deeper fantasy formats, and he may be an option in standard formats for as long as Sergachev is sidelined.

Josh Manson D | COL
Avalanche's Josh Manson: Two apples in win
Manson put up two assists in a 6-3 win over Dallas on Saturday.
Manson isn't an offensive guy -- he has 12 points, including 11 assists, in 35 games this season. However, he has managed 80 hits and 47 blocks, so he may give you some value in deep leagues that count those categories.

David Jiricek D | PHI
Wild's David Jiricek: Gets first goal of season
Jiricek scored a goal and added two hits in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Predators.
The goal was Jiricek's first point over five games as a member of the Wild. The team has sheltered the 21-year-old defenseman even with the organization's defensive depth being heavily tested with three top-four blueliners injured currently. Jiricek has two points, eight shots on net, 12 hits, seven blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 11 appearances between Minnesota and Columbus this season.

Luke Schenn D | BUF
Predators' Luke Schenn: Helper, fight in win
Schenn logged an assist, two hits and seven PIM in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Wild.
Schenn snapped an 11-game point drought when he helped out on a Colton Sissons tally in the first period. Schenn racked up 39 hits and 12 blocked shots during his scoring slump. His physicality is his calling card, but it may not overcome his total lack of offense in 2024-25. The defenseman has three points, 169 hits, 59 blocked shots, 36 PIM, 53 shots on net and a minus-10 rating through 45 appearances in a bottom-four role.

Roman Josi D | NSH
Predators' Roman Josi: Records two helpers
Josi notched a pair of assists, three shots on goal, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Wild.
Josi's point streak is up to five games (one goal, six assists). He is riding his second-longest streak of the campaign and his best stretch of play since November. The 34-year-old blueliner is up to 32 points, 119 shots on net, 73 blocked shots, 37 hits and a minus-18 rating over 41 outings this season in his usual top-pairing role.
-
Brady Skjei D | NSH
Predators' Brady Skjei: Fills empty cage
Skjei scored an empty-net goal on four shots and added two PIM in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Wild.
Skjei ended a six-game point drought by netting the final goal of this contest. The 30-year-old blueliner remains in a steady top-four role, but he has had trouble getting anything going on offense this season. He's at four goals, 14 points, 91 shots on net, 46 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 45 appearances. Skjei is on pace to miss the 30-point mark for the first time in four years.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Oliver Ekman-Larsson: Bags three-pointer in win
Ekman-Larsson scored a power-play goal on two shots and logged two assists, one on the power play, in Saturday's 7-3 win over Montreal.
Ekman-Larsson snapped a five-game pointless run with his first multi-point performance since Oct. 16 against the Kings. He potted the game-winner early in the third period, completing Toronto's comeback from a 3-0 first-period deficit. Ekman-Larsson has three goals and 15 assists through 46 outings this season. Saturday's effort was his first game with three points since Feb. 8, 2022.

Cale Makar D | COL
Avalanche's Cale Makar: Sixth-fastest defender to 100 goals
Makar scored two goals in a 6-3 win over Dallas on Saturday.
The snipes included his 100th goal, coming in his 362nd game. Makar is the sixth-fastest defenseman in NHL history to reach the milestone. George Boucher (223), Bobby Orr (299), Paul Coffey (300), Ray Bourque (329) and Denis Potvin (348) were the five fastest. On another note, Makar blocked a wrist shot off the inside of his left ankle during the game, and while he seemed to shake it off, it could be worth monitoring.

Erik Gudbranson D | CLB
Blue Jackets' Erik Gudbranson: Not close to returning
Gudbranson (shoulder) isn't expected to return until the end of March, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports Saturday.
Gudbranson hasn't been in the lineup since Oct. 15 due to the injury. He had six goals, 26 points, 74 PIM, 92 hits and 170 blocks in 78 appearances with the Blue Jackets in 2023-24. When healthy, Gudbranson will likely serve in a bottom-four role.
