  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Plucks apple in win

Nurse recorded an assist, three shots on goal and two blocked shots in Monday's 1-0 win over the Kings.

Nurse ended a four-game slump with the helper. The 29-year-old defenseman has had a couple of good stretches this season, but there have been a number of slumps in his production as well. Overall, he's at 18 points, 104 shots on net, 68 hits, 67 blocked shots, 26 PIM and a plus-8 rating through 40 appearances in a top-four role.

  • Blackhawks' Louis Crevier: Tallies in loss Monday

Crevier scored a goal on two shots, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Monday's 5-2 loss to Calgary.

Crevier has been in the lineup for eight straight games, and this was his first point since his goal Nov. 27 versus the Stars. The 23-year-old has been over the 20-minute mark in the last two games, even with Alec Martinez back in the fold after a following a month-long absence. Crevier has just two goals with 17 shots on net, 24 hits and 26 blocked shots through 15 appearances this season, but it looks like his development has taken a step forward. That will put pressure on players like Wyatt Kaiser, Nolan Allan and T.J. Brodie to elevate their play at the risk of being scratched.

  • Flames' Brayden Pachal: Strong showing in win

Pachal posted an assist, five blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Monday's 5-2 win over the Blackhawks.

The five blocks were a season high for Pachal, who has seen steady ice time in a bottom-four role. The 25-year-old defenseman has two points and a plus-4 rating over five contests in January. Overall, he's up to four points, 39 shots on net, 51 PIM, 96 hits, 48 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating through 42 appearances.

  • Kevin Bahl D | CGY

Flames' Kevin Bahl: Nabs helper in Monday's win

Bahl recorded an assist and two blocked shots in Monday's 5-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Bahl set up the second of Jakob Pelletier's two goals in the contest. The 24-year-old Bahl ended an eight-game point drought with the helper. The defenseman hasn't been a huge factor on offense but has held onto a top-four role as a physical presence. He's up to 13 points, 46 shots on net, 61 hits, 67 blocked shots, 19 PIM and a plus-1 rating through 42 appearances, which is enough all-around production to be considered in deep fantasy formats.

  • Jake Bean D | CGY

Flames' Jake Bean: Finds twine Monday

Bean scored a goal and went plus-2 in Monday's 5-2 win over the Blackhawks.

The goal was Bean's first point in eight games since the holiday break, and it stretched the Flames' lead to 4-1. The 26-year-old defenseman hasn't often gotten involved on offense while filling a third-pairing role this season. He's at two goals, three helpers, 31 shots on net, 21 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 29 appearances.

  • Nate Schmidt D | UTA

Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Ends slump with assist

Schmidt logged an assist in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers.

Schmidt didn't get on the scoresheet in December and also struggled early in January. His helper Monday ended an 18-game slump, during which he produced 13 shots on net, 14 hits, nine blocked shots, four PIM and a minus-2 rating. The 33-year-old has seen an uptick in ice time to compensate for the absence of Aaron Ekblad (undisclosed). Schmidt has nine points, 28 shots on net, 44 hits, 27 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 42 appearances this season, and his fantasy intrigue is highest when he's involved on the power play.

  • Panthers' Uvis Balinskis: Scores in Monday's loss

Balinskis scored a goal and blocked two shots in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers.

Balinskis has gotten on the scoresheet in consecutive contests for just the second time this season. His goal gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the first period. The 28-year-old blueliner is up to two goals, 10 assists, 52 shots, 34 hits, 29 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating through 41 appearances. Balinskis was out of the power-play mix for much of December, but he's back to seeing time on the second unit in the absence of Aaron Ekblad (undisclosed).

  • Erik Johnson D | COL

Flyers' Erik Johnson: Remains stuck in press box

Johnson has been scratched for 24 consecutive games after sitting out Monday's 4-3 win over the Panthers.

Given head coach John Tortorella's propensity to tinker with his lineup, it's a significant surprise that a veteran like Johnson hasn't been able to get into the lineup. The 36-year-old Johnson has two points, 23 hits, 10 blocked shots and nine PIM over 15 outings. There's no telling when Johnson might get into a game again, so he doesn't need to be monitored in fantasy.

  • Flyers' Rasmus Ristolainen: Picks up power-play assist

Ristolainen produced a power-play assist, three shots on goal and two hits in Monday's 4-3 win over the Panthers.

Ristolainen has earned four assists and a plus-1 rating over his last eight outings. The defenseman helped out on the first of Noah Cates' two goals in the third period of Monday's comeback win. This was Ristolainen's first power-play point since the 2022-23 campaign, and he's up to a goal, 11 assists, 63 shots on net, 72 hits and 62 blocked shots through 44 appearances this season.

  • John Marino D | UTA

Hockey Club's John Marino: Closing in on return

Marino (back) will be a game-time decision Tuesday against Montreal, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports.

Marino has yet to suit up in 2024-25 after undergoing lower-back surgery in October. The right-shot blueliner was traded from the Devils to Utah in June of 2024. Marino will take the ice in warm-ups Tuesday, and if he is able to play, he'll slot in on the third pairing. The 27-year-old would be a welcomed addition for a club that has dealt with major injuries to its blue line, including Sean Durzi (shoulder), who has only played in four games this season.
