  • Nick Jensen D | OTT

Senators' Nick Jensen: Adds assist in win

Jensen logged an assist and two blocked shots in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Stars.

Jensen has contributed three helpers and eight blocked shots over his last four contests. The 34-year-old defenseman isn't always consistent on offense, but he's playing in a top-four role that allows him to get some looks at times. For the season, he has two goals, 14 assists, 52 blocks, 50 shots on net, 39 hits and a plus-15 rating over 42 appearances.

  • Red Wings' Erik Gustafsson: Two points in victory

Gustafsson potted a power-play goal and added a helper Sunday in a 6-2 win over Seattle.

Gustafsson registered the primary assist on Patrick Kane's first-period goal, and the defenseman netted his first power-play marker of the season early in the middle frame. This was Gustafsson's first multi-point effort in 2024-25. He has two goals through five games in January after failing to find the back of the net through the first three months of the season. The left-shot blueliner appears to have cemented his place in the lineup after being a periodic healthy scratch up until Dec. 5. He's chipped in two goals and 11 points through 34 appearances.

  • Senators' Jake Sanderson: Posts helper Sunday

Sanderson notched an assist, three shots on goal, four blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Stars.

Sanderson has earned three helpers over his last four games. This was his first point at even strength since Dec. 21 versus the Canucks, when he had a goal and two assists. The defenseman continues to play a massive role for the Senators, racking up two goals, 22 assists, 87 shots on net, 85 blocked shots and a minus-14 rating over 42 outings this season.

  • Capitals' Martin Fehervary: Slides apple in victory

Fehervary garnered an even-strength assist Saturday in a 4-1 win over Nashville.

Fehervary helped out on Ethen Frank's first career NHL goal in the third period, which stood as the game-winner. Fehervary added two PIM, one blocked shot, three hits and a plus-2 rating in 21:42 of ice time. The 25-year-old's offensive contributions have been modest this season, but he's off to a great start in January with one goal, three helpers and a plus-5 rating through six games. Overall, the Slovak blueliner is up to 10 assists, 11 points and a plus-8 rating through 43 appearances in 2024-25.

  • John Carlson D | ANA

Capitals' John Carlson: Lends helper in Nashville

Carlson provided an even-strength assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Predators.

Carlson registered the secondary assist on Andrew Mangiapane's 10th goal of the season in the third period. Carlson has notched three assists through six contests in January, but he hasn't scored since Nov. 27, a span of 21 games. Washington has eight players with at least 10 goals this season, so Carlson hasn't been relied upon in that category. For the season, the right-shot blueliner is up to three goals, 27 points, 12 PIM, 95 shots on net, 33 hits, 79 blocked shots, 18 takeaways and a plus-16 rating through 43 outings.

  • Roman Josi D | NSH

Predators' Roman Josi: Collects helper in loss

Josi produced a power-play assist in a team-high 26:35 of ice time in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Capitals.

Josi has already doubled his production from December with a goal and three helpers through four games in January. The star blueliner isn't scoring at a point-per-game pace like he did last season, but his start to January could be the beginning of a productive second half in 2024-25. Josi is spearheading Nashville's back end in scoring with eight goals and 28 points through 38 appearances.

  • Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Removed from IR

Gostisbehere (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Sunday, per the NHL media site.

Carolina assigned Ty Smith to AHL Chicago in a corresponding move. Gostisbehere will return from an eight-game absence in Sunday's matchup versus Anaheim. He has compiled six goals, 27 points, 66 shots on net, 27 blocked shots and 30 hits through 35 appearances this season.

  • Canucks' Erik Brannstrom: Lands on waivers

Brannstrom was placed on waivers Sunday, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports.

Brannstrom figures to join AHL Abbotsford, should he clear waivers. The 25-year-old defenseman had been a healthy scratch in Vancouver's last six games after logging three goals and eight points in 28 contests earlier this year.

  • Jets' Dylan Samberg: Posts assist in Saturday's win

Samberg notched an assist, three shots on goal, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Avalanche.

This was Samberg's second game back from missing 21 contests due to a broken foot. The 25-year-old led the Jets with 24:47 of ice time Saturday, and he's immediately resumed a top-four role on the blue line. He's unlikely to be a significant source of offense, instead serving in more of a shutdown role. Samberg is at seven points, 30 shots on net, 35 blocked shots, 26 hits, 18 PIM and a plus-14 rating through 23 outings in 2024-25.

  • Ty Smith D | CAR

Hurricanes' Ty Smith: Assigned to AHL

Smith was assigned to AHL Chicago on Sunday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Smith had appeared in the Hurricanes' last eight games, recording a goal and an assist, in the absence of Shayne Gostisbehere (upper body). It appears that Carolina will dress five defensemen Sunday against the Ducks.
