Zach Werenski D | CLB
Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski: Five-game, nine-point streak
Werenski had a goal and an assist in a 6-2 win over the Kraken on Thursday. The goal stood as the game-winner.
Werenski has nine points (two goals, seven assists) in a five-game point streak, and his 48 points put him in second in the NHL, one point behind Cale Makar in scoring by defensemen. Werenski makes the game look simple, and if he can pick up the pace slightly, he could flirt with a 100-point season.

Denton Mateychuk D | CLB
Blue Jackets' Denton Mateychuk: First NHL goal
Mateychuk had a goal and an assist in a 6-2 win over the Kraken on Thursday.
It's his first NHL goal and first multi-point NHL game, and he also blocked six shots, another career mark. Mateychuk is part of Columbus' youth movement, and his upside is high. He had 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists) in 27 AHL games prior to his call-up.

Zach Bogosian D | MIN
Wild's Zach Bogosian: Goals in consecutive games
Bogosian scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Bogosian has three points over his last four games, including a goal in each of the last two contests. He's single-handedly trying to cover for the absences of Jonas Brodin (lower body), Brock Faber (upper body) and Jared Spurgeon (lower body). Bogosian may benefit from extra ice time in the short term, but he's little more than a streaming option in fantasy. His four goals this season represents his most in a campaign since he scored seven with the Sabres in 2015-16. He's added five helpers, 50 shots on net, 47 hits, 50 blocked shots, 23 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 42 outings.

Calvin de Haan D | NYR
Avalanche's Calvin de Haan: Regaining playing time
De Haan played for the second game in a row in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Wild.
De Haan had been scratched for the prior four games. He may have a path to steady playing time if Samuel Girard (upper body) ends up being out for a while. For the season, de Haan has six assists, 36 shots on net, 42 hits, 45 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 32 appearances. He has not gotten on the scoresheet since he had an assist Dec. 10 versus the Penguins.

Josh Manson D | COL
Avalanche's Josh Manson: Earns two assists in win
Manson logged a pair of assists, four hits and a plus-4 rating in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Wild.
Manson has a pair of two-assist games to go with five scoreless outings since he returned from an upper-body injury following the holiday break. The 33-year-old defenseman is up to 10 points, 40 shots on net, 73 hits, 43 blocked shots, 18 PIM and a minus-4 rating over 31 contests this season. Manson won't always provide much offense, but he's a steady source of physicality on the Avalanche's second pairing.

Samuel Girard D | PIT
Avalanche's Samuel Girard: Late scratch Thursday
Girard will miss Thursday's game against Minnesota due to an upper-body injury, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.
Girard has two goals and 18 points in 42 appearances in 2024-25. He's regarded as day-to-day, so he still might be an option to draw back into the lineup Saturday versus Winnipeg.

Mattias Samuelsson D | BUF
Sabres' Mattias Samuelsson: Battling illness
Samuelsson is a late scratch for Thursday's tilt against Ottawa because of an illness, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
Samuelsson has two goals, five points, 43 hits and 34 blocks in 26 appearances in 2024-25. Dennis Gilbert is projected to draw back into the lineup due to Samuelsson's absence.
-
Jacob Bryson D | WPG
Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Returns to practice
Bryson (illness) attended Thursday's practice but is not projected to be in the lineup versus the Senators, Justin Alpert of the Sabres' official site reports.
Bryson had missed two games due to the illness, but his presence at practice indicates he is now healthy enough to play if necessary. He has three assists, eight shots on net and 31 blocked shots across 24 appearances this season. Bryson has not held a full-time spot in the lineup since early December.

Jake Walman D | EDM
Sharks' Jake Walman: Unavailable for Friday
Walman (lower body) will not join the Sharks on their trip to Utah for Friday's tilt, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Walman will miss his eighth straight game as a result. He has five goals and 25 points in 31 appearances in 2024-25. The Sharks will be back at home to host Minnesota on Saturday, so it's at least possible that Walman might play in that outing.

David Savard D | MON
Canadiens' David Savard: Not traveling Friday
Savard (upper body) will not be with the Canadiens when they travel to Washington on Friday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
Savard will be shelved for his fourth consecutive contest due to his lingering upper-body issue. Prior to getting hurt, the blueliner was offering decent offensive production with five points in his last seven outings. The veteran hasn't reached the 30-point threshold since 2014-15 when he was with Columbus and is well behind the pace required to do so this year even once he returns to full health.
