  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Gets helped off ice after win

Lindgren sustained an apparent lower-body injury at the end of overtime in Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Red Wings, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.

Lindgren shook off the injury long enough to perform in the shootout, but he needed assistance from his teammates to exit the ice at the end. The 32-year-old's injury comes at a bad time, as Logan Thompson (upper body) was not available Thursday. Lindgren's status wasn't updated after the game, leaving the Capitals' goaltending situation murky heading into Saturday's home game versus the Hurricanes. With the win, Lindgren improved to 8-6-3 with a 3.37 GAA and an .884 save percentage over 18 appearances.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Leaves Thursday's game

Ersson (lower body) won't return to Thursday's game versus the Bruins.

Ersson allowed five goals on 20 shots in two periods of action. It's unclear when the injury occurred. Dan Vladar took over in goal and will likely handle the bulk of the goaltending duties for as long as Ersson is out.

  • Alex Lyon G | BUF

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Expected to start Thursday

Lyon is expected to start at home against the Kings on Thursday, per Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site.

Lyon has a 12-6-3 record, 2.70 GAA and .911 save percentage in 23 outings in 2025-26. Lyon has won his past nine appearances while stopping 227 of 245 shots (.927 save percentage) over that span, though that stretch includes the duration in which he didn't get into a game from Dec. 31 to Jan. 19 due to a lower-body injury. The Kings have won their past three games while outscoring the competition 12-8.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Set to face Montreal

Wedgewood is expected to start on the road against Montreal on Thursday, per Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette.

Wedgewood has a 20-3-5 record, 2.14 GAA and .918 save percentage in 30 appearances in 2025-26. He's getting his first start since Jan. 21, when he stopped 15 of 16 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to Anaheim. Montreal is 29-17-7 this campaign, but the Canadiens have a mediocre 3-3-1 record over their past seven games.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Starting in goal Thursday

Vasilevskiy will protect the home goal versus the Jets on Thursday, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.

Vasilevksiy has won four straight games, including a 28-save shutout over the Mammoth on Tuesday. The 31-year-old hasn't allowed more than two goals in any of his last eight contests, so he is very much in form. The Jets have scored just 12 goals over their last six games, so Vasilevskiy is in position to keep his hot stretch rolling.

  • Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Guarding goal Thursday

Bussi will protect the home goal versus the Mammoth on Thursday, Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News reports.

Bussi will get the nod in consecutive games for the third time in January. He is 6-2-0 with a 2.27 GAA and a .904 save percentage over his first eight outings of the month. The Mammoth have won five of their last six games, scoring 22 goals in that span.

  • Predators' Justus Annunen: Drawing start Thursday

Annunen will defend the road crease against New Jersey on Thursday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.

Annunen has seen limited playing time in recent weeks, but he'll tend the twine Thursday after sitting out the Predators' last three games. He's made three appearances in January, going 1-1-0 with a 3.51 GAA and .889 save percentage.

  • Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Set to face Boston

Ersson is set to start on the road against Boston on Thursday.

Ersson has allowed at least three goals in five of his past six outings. He's 8-9-5 with a 3.39 GAA and an .860 save percentage in 23 appearances this season. He'll be up against the red-hot Bruins, who are 11-2-1 across their past 13 outings while averaging 4.00 goals per game over that span.

  • Lukas Dostal G | ANA

Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Tending twine against Vancouver

Dostal will start Thursday's road game against Vancouver, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.

Dostal sat out the second half of a back-to-back set Monday in Edmonton, but he'll return to the crease Thursday for the fifth time in the Ducks' past six games. He's in the midst of a six-game winning streak in which he's posted a 1.93 GAA and .931 save percentage.

  • Maple Leafs' Anthony Stolarz: In goal versus Kraken

Stolarz will get the starting nod for Thursday's road clash with Seattle, Luke Fox of Sportsnet reports.

In his first game back from a long-term, upper-body injury, Stolarz gave up five goals on 30 shots (.833 save percentage). It was a less-than-stellar performance, but getting the netminder some work before the Olympic break certainly makes sense. The Maple Leafs head into a back-to-back versus Calgary and Edmonton on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, so Stolarz figures to get one of those games as well.
