Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Comes up short in elimination game
Hill stopped 31 of 32 shots in Wednesday's 1-0 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 5.
Hill did everything he could to keep the Golden Knights' season alive, but his best performance of the playoffs still wasn't enough. The 29-year-old allowed 16 goals over five games against the Oilers in the second-round loss. Hill's status as the Golden Knights' top goalie isn't in question moving forward -- he signed a six-year extension with the team in March, so he'll continue to see substantial playing time for a contender heading into 2025-26.

Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Guarding goal in Game 5
Bobrovsky will protect the road goal versus the Maple Leafs in Game 5 on Wednesday, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports.
Bobrovsky leveled the series with a shutout win in Game 4, making 23 saves. The 36-year-old has a 2.62 GAA and an .888 save percentage over nine playoff outings, though those marks are slightly worse on the road (2.85 GAA, .883 save percentage over five games). Still, the Panthers have momentum after finding success on home ice and will look to keep it up in Toronto in this pivotal contest.

Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Expected to start in Game 5
Hill is set to start at home against Edmonton for Game 5 on Wednesday, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.
Hill will look for a better result after allowing at least three goals in each of his first four games against Edmonton in the second-round series. Vegas is down 3-1, so the Golden Knights need a win to force Game 6 in Edmonton on Friday. The Oilers' offense has been dominant in the 2025 playoffs -- they're averaging a league-leading 4.20 goals per game.

Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Remains out Wednesday
Pickard (undisclosed) isn't expected to play in Game 5 against Vegas on Wednesday, according to Tony Brar of Oilers TV.
Pickard wasn't on the ice for Edmonton's morning skate. He's set to miss his third straight game. The 33-year-old netminder is 6-0 with a 2.84 GAA and an .888 save percentage across seven playoff appearances this year. Stuart Skinner is slated to start Wednesday, while Olivier Rodrigue will serve as the backup.

Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Slated to start Wednesday
Skinner is expected to start on the road against Vegas in Game 5 on Wednesday, per Tony Brar of Oilers TV.
Skinner has struggled in the 2025 playoffs with a 3.95 GAA and an .857 save percentage across four outings. However, he's coming off a 23-save shutout, so perhaps he's turned a corner. Logan Thompson G | WAS
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Slated to start Game 5
Head coach Spencer Carbery said Wednesday that Thompson is slated to start Thursday's Game 5 at home against the Hurricanes, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.
Thompson hasn't been particularly sharp over the last two games, posting a 4.03 GAA and .877 save percentage en route to back-to-back losses. The Capitals are now facing a 3-1 deficit in the series, but the team appears set to lean upon the 28-year-old once again Thursday. Thompson was much more effective over his first seven appearances in the playoffs, going 5-2-0 with a 2.01 GAA and .931 save percentage, so he'll attempt to bounce back in Thursday's Game 5.

Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Falls in Game 4
Hellebuyck stopped 21 of 24 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Stars in Game 4.
Hellebuyck has lost nine straight road playoff games, including five this postseason. He doesn't have any more margin for error -- this game put the Jets down 3-1 in the series, which shifts back to Winnipeg for Thursday's Game 5. Aside from a Game 2 shutout, Hellebuyck has been middling versus the Stars, allowing 11 goals across the three losses. Still, the Jets are poised to roll with him to the end, even as they face an uphill battle.

Stars' Jake Oettinger: Wins again in Game 4
Oettinger stopped 31 of 32 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Jets in Game 4.

Over four games in the second round, Oettinger has been sharp with just eight goals allowed on 113 shots, good for a .929 save percentage. The 26-year-old will likely get the chance to close out the series in Winnipeg on Thursday in Game 5.
