  • Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Has torn ACL

Romanov will miss the next six-to-eight months and undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, the team announced Wednesday.

Romanov's timetable doesn't completely rule him out for the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign, but even in a best-case scenario, he would be returning for only the Islanders' final few games. He has no points, a plus-2 rating, three shots, five hits and seven blocks in three outings this year. Romanov's long-term absence creates an opportunity for Scott Mayfield or Matt Kessel to play far more often this campaign than they might have otherwise.

  • Red Wings' William Wallinder: Earns helper in NHL debut

Wallinder logged an assist and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Senators.

Wallinder dressed as a seventh defensemen Tuesday, which could happen on occasion since the Red Wings' forward group has sustained some injuries. The 24-year-old blueliner logged 9:07 of ice time in his NHL debut. Wallinder will likely be limited to third-pairing minutes at best as he adjusts to the NHL.

  • Red Wings' Nate Danielson: Logs first assist of season

Danielson produced an assist in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Senators.

Danielson has opened the season on the fourth line, logging less than 10 minutes of ice time in each of Detroit's first three games. He's added just two shots on net and two PIM from that spot. The 22-year-old center won't carry much fantasy value while he's buried in the lineup, and it wouldn't be surprising for him to end up at AHL Grand Rapids once the Red Wings get healthier up front.

  • Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: Tallies late in loss

Slafkovsky scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Hurricanes.

Slafkovsky has played on the second line to begin the year, following the Canadiens' signing of Chris Kreider. The 22-year-old Slafkovsky is still on the top power-play unit and should find success, but he's been limited to one goal, five shots, three hits and a plus-1 rating over three contests. Given his established chemistry with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, it's a bit of a surprise to see Slafkovsky on the second line, but he should benefit the first time there's a shuffle in the Canadiens' top six.

  • Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Sustains undisclosed injury

Montembeault sustained an undisclosed injury during Wednesday's practice, per Canadiens beat reporter Priyanta Emrith.

Montembeault left the skate as a result of the injury. There wasn't an immediate update, but he is being evaluated. If Montembeault isn't an option for Thursday's home game against Nashville, then the Canadiens will need to call up a goaltender. Jakub Dobes might get the start regardless of Montembeault's availability, but Dobes chances of getting the assignment naturally increase if Montembeault is injured.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Deposits empty-netter

Svechnikov scored an empty-net goal on three shots and added four hits in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Canadiens.

Montreal stayed in the mix throughout the game, but Svechnikov's empty-netter put the game out of reach. This was his first goal of the season. The power winger has four points, including two on the power play, and he's added 15 shots on net, 15 hits and two blocked shots from a top-line role.

  • Filip Forsberg LW | NSH

Predators' Filip Forsberg: Supplies two helpers

Forsberg registered two assists and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

Forsberg helped out on both of Nils Hoglander's tallies in the contest. The two wingers are playing on a line with Matthew Wood at center to begin the campaign. Forsberg has come up empty on five shots so far, but he has three assists and four hits over three contests. The 32-year-old winger has typically averaged more than three shots per game in his career, so expect his volume -- and success -- to increase as the season progresses.

  • Maple Leafs' Jack Roslovic: Pair of points in win

Roslovic scored a goal on four shots and added an assist in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Predators.

Roslovic has seen top-line usage at even strength at times this season. He's already picked up three points, 10 shots on net, three hits and a plus-2 rating over four contests. In the right situation, Roslovic can be an effective complementary scorer, and it appears that's exactly what he's getting in Toronto. He's worth a look in fantasy formats that focus on offense.

  • John Tavares C | TOR

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Nets first goal of campaign

Tavares scored a goal on six shots in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Predators.

Tavares helped spark the Maple Leafs' offense with a second-period tally to answer the game's first three goals from Nashville. This was Tavares' first goal of the season, along with two assists, 14 shots on net, four blocked shots, four PIM and a minus-2 rating. The 36-year-old center continues to fill a second-line role and a spot on the first power-play unit. He's reached the 70-point mark in four of the last five years and could do so again in 2026-27 as long as his usage is steady.

  • Devils' Jesper Boqvist: Scores in season debut

Boqvist scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Mammoth.

Boqvist sat out the first two games as a healthy scratch before bumping Stefan Noesen from the lineup Tuesday. Boqvist's goal came in 9:49 of ice time. The 27-year-old forward likely doesn't have a path to much more than bottom-six usage, and he could get replaced in the lineup once Connor Brown (lower body) is healthy.
